JudoMinja Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 It confused me when his avatar mimicked annes, but now that it mimicks mine I don't get confused. I know where I've posted and what I've said, so when I see it come up I know its him. It's amusing, but yes. Confusing. Maybe we should put up our suggestions for good slamjet avatars?I like this one- Quote

bcguy Posted March 10, 2012 Report Posted March 10, 2012 That was actually a old test, made some time in the 1970s mabey early 1980s. DOE wanted to see how tough the walls of a nuclear reactor would be if they could take the impact of a f4 such as the image you are using for your self. Now, watching a f4 fantom rolling going down the runway in a ball of flames past me on the flightline, that is altogether a different story Quote

bcguy Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 (edited) Kirkland was the base I was stationed that that is half military, half DOE. The video of the F4 Fantom fighters in this thread was conducted at Kirtland a few years before I was to be permanently stationed there as a heavy lift helicopter mechanic. It is where the Us Government runs Sandia National Labs where 20 thousand scientist and support personal work to perform such radical test, such as the f4 fantom rocket sled test, the flying laser lab a Boeing 747 was developed and many thousands of other "star wars" and other scientific test are conducted. Lots of very strange things are at the base. One of the more unusual test facilities was the EMP wood trestle. Any aircraft that was to be tested for EMP harness testing was to be conducted at the EMP trestle. The trestel has lots of warning signs on it. If you had a pace maker, you were to never approach the facility. One of our helicopters, a HH-60G Pavehawk "Black hawk in army terms" once flew past the trestle during a test, and the aircraft almost lost control. Yo can read about the trestle here.In Memoriam: Carl Baum, trestle-makerI remember driving off the main road on base..which led to one of the two largest nuke storage facilities in the country, to a area where a downed fighter was sitting on the desert floor. It had radioactive symbols on it and had been on the desert floor since the 1950s. If I ever did obtain my Bachelor's degree in Science, this would have been one of my first choice locations in which to work. Edited March 12, 2012 by bcguy Quote

JudoMinja Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 For sure not short. Actually, my physical stature is very short. That's why my friends gave me the nickname Minja (midget ninja). Maybe my writing style overcompensates for my physical size. Quote
