Guest Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 How is it that I began by referencing someone's suggestion that married couples ought to pray every time, and the debate is whether a couple should ever pray? Quote
Vort Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 How is it that I began by referencing someone's suggestion that married couples ought to pray every time, and the debate is whether a couple should ever pray?Because the fundamental question is whether praying before sex is good or appropriate. If it can be established that such a practice is appropriate sometimes, it will be much easier to argue that it is appropriate always. On the contrary, if it can be established that such prayer is never appropriate, then obviously it follows that it is inappropriate to do so before every sexual encounter. Quote
Misshalfway Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 Hmmm. You are reading people's comments much differently than I am. For example:These comments sound to me like people saying it's wrong or inappropriate to pray before sex.I don't read "wrong" or "inappropriate" in any of this.I read..."gosh that's a little overzealous" for me or "that's a mood killer".My comment was completely tongue and cheek. As the person who made the comment, my fundamental point was that I thought it was odd that someone would think it necessary to bless their marriage bed every single time they're going to use it. As far as the rest, that's just looking for something to argue about, if you ask me. Quote

Your comment implied that you thought that "always" was a wrong answer. But to determine if "always" is wrong, we need to determine if "ever" is wrong and work from there. Quote
MorningStar Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 I prayed during labor and I was half naked. How wrong of me! Quote

Connie Posted August 27, 2012 Report Posted August 27, 2012 I was just thinking back to when I had just been re baptized. I was having a conversation with the Elders Quorum President about not remembering to pray as often as I should. I told him that one of the places I did remember to pray was in the shower. I don't remember his exact words. But, the point he made was that it is disrespectful to pray to Heavenly Father while you are naked. Was he right? Because it seems to me that if Heavenly Father did not want us talking to Him while we were naked. the first thing He would have done after he created Adam would have been to have him put on something to cover his nakedness. What does everybody else think.Off subject: Whenever I refer to Heavenly Father as He or Him I always use capital H. Is this correct? Brother RayHello Brother Ray. Hope you are well.I haven't read all the responses in this thread so forgive me if this has already been quoted. From the Gospel Principles manual, Chapter 8, it says, "We can pray whenever we feel the need to communicate with our Heavenly Father, whether silently or vocally. ...wherever we may be and whatever we may be doing."Hope that helps. :) Quote
AnthonyB Posted August 28, 2012 Report Posted August 28, 2012 Hmm no problem with praying, speaking in tongues might be a whole different matter. :) Quote
NightSG Posted August 28, 2012 Report Posted August 28, 2012 Well, I suspect the best reason for praying before sex is that if there is an inappropriate time and/or condition for praying, after good sex is probably it. Quote

We took pictures during labor of me pretending to point at him angrily/squeeze his hand. He makes a great terrified face. Quote
