Cats land on their feet...

We were out with my sister and her husband the other night and somehow managed to start talking about cats and how they always land on their feet. The following question came up.

If you tie a piece of buttered bread to a cat's back, how will it land?

Any thoughts?

It will land with major consternation in an attempt to get the darn buttered bread off it's back while cursing it's trainees for not understanding the main lesson - "I Cat am the MASTER!"

*stupid flea-bitten monster fuzzballs*

Boy, was I surprised! It was quite a great perspective of Jolly Old St Nick. It really simplifies one aspect of what makes the red suit so much a part of the Christmas Spirit. One word - Wonder.

And the Easter Bunny - quite simply - Hope.

The movie follows a simple formula of good versus evil. It's the Guardians of the children - Santa Claus (called North), Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, and Sandman (I didn't know about sand in your eyes thing until my son told me about it!) against the evil Bogeyman (Pitch Black) who is working to bring despair to the children. It's like the Avengers!

In a 1987 study, published in the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, of 132 cats that were brought into the New York Animal Medical Center after having fallen from buildings, it was found that the injuries per cat increased depending on the height fallen up to seven stories but decreased above seven stories. The study authors speculated that after falling five stories the cats reached terminal velocity and thereafter relaxed and spread their bodies to increase drag.

The Straight Dope: Do cats always land unharmed on their feet, no matter how far they fall?
