M_T_E Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 Is there anything special about this day? My online missionary is attempting to convince me to be baptized on this day. Or well be ready to be baptized on said date. She seems determined to get me into that font. Quote
pam Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 Nope. Probably just a date she set as a goal. Quote
dahlia Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 Yeah. My missionaries set a date for me as well. I wasn't ready/had stuff to do. Strangely, though, without really planning for it, I was baptized a month to the day later. Quote
M_T_E Posted January 22, 2013 Author Report Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) Her goal is nearly a month out. She said pray on her words and discuss it tomorrow. She first brought up baptism in a literal sense that I should do so on the 18th. I told her initially although I was in this to simply learn, she knows I believe and feel the holy spirit and that the BoM is true and that this is the one true church. Though she seems surprised by the amount of knowledge I have gained in the almost month I have spent learning. Probably why she is more eager to get me to be baptized or atleast handed to local missionaries. How old we're you when you were baptized dahlia? Edited January 22, 2013 by M_T_E Typo Quote

skippy740 Posted January 22, 2013 Report Posted January 22, 2013 The date is negotiable. But it is the purpose of missionary work... to bring others to baptism. If you haven't read these yet, I recommend reading 3 Nephi 11 and Alma 32. This may help you along the path. Quote

I kind of figured since I declined the first time and she realizes that I am a stubborn individual that setting a date would be a way to further get me interested. Or well.. Encourage me further. Although I did decline her first time, I have no problem encouraging others to go forward. Actually am trying to convince a friend to meet with missionaries currently. Quote

M_T_E Posted January 22, 2013 Author Report Posted January 22, 2013 Nope. Probably just a date she set as a goal. This just clicked with me, I believe I read somewhere that missionaries are highly encouraged to have investigators attend atleast two Sunday services prior to baptism. I requested the first two Sundays off from work for February so I can attend and have an opportunity to learn and get more immersed. I guess her date must be based around that, since I am hesitant to be involved with the local missies. Quote

She has taught me a lot in 20 days of talking, so I can see why she is eager to get me moving forward even though I wasn't looking to convert when I started this. Quote

M_T_E Posted January 23, 2013 Author Report Posted January 23, 2013 Well it's official, she forwarded me and her notes on me to local missionaries. Just got a call and voicemail a couple hours ago. She said she feels I am "ready". She made a bold move that I wasn't expecting. Guess it won't hurt to call back tomorrow. Quote
dahlia Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 That wasn't to long ago. You asked how old I was, not when was I baptized. I was baptized in 2011. I could be misunderstanding your response. Quote
BadWolf Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 It will be special if its your baptism date. Quote

pam Posted January 23, 2013 Report Posted January 23, 2013 Because your baptismal day is always special. It's a date that you will probably always remember. Quote
M_T_E Posted January 24, 2013 Author Report Posted January 24, 2013 Can't quite say I went into this looking to convert though. Quote
