yes my dreams, it's something that seemed to follow me from my days as a neo pagan and, well I still take a lot away from them.

I believe they are often my mind sorting out thoughts, my fears, questions I cannot ask or receive any answer to.

Or just it messing around.

Not all my dreams make me think, but some do, some do.

Ok, so you asked. What type of answer are you looking for?

Personally, I get my best answers when I pray by myself, quietly, during my "Me" time. Words don't have to be fancy, or even nessarily spoken out loud, but the emotion behind it is sincere. After I ask, I take some more "Me" time to do something quiet, and listen for a while. Sometime I'll get an answer right away, sometime it's a few days before I get there (God is patient person). Answers don't come like someone blasting a megaphone in your ear (not normally, anways), but more subtle. To me, it's that sense of peace, pulling in particular direction.

The closet thing I can think to compare it to is those times I am lost, and need to take a minute to collect myself, and then have this gentle feeling that "Oh, that's the way I need to go"

Well believe it or not this is exactly what i have been told by the elders as to how to be lead by the spirit. I have tried to "listen" for years and i dont feel like it happens.

Have you prayed about it before you listen? God answers prayers on His time. Not necessarily when we want the answers which is almost always immediately.

Yes i have waited for months sometimes for an answer, read the bible, read the watchtower publications for an answer......what else is there? Im sorry i dont trust myself, a "gentle" leaning to go a certain way is often marred by what i want or think i want or think God wants.

Mabye im looking for more of a certain action or feeling.

The bible says there is one faith, does that mean an organization, or the christian faith, or just whats in your heart?

That's when I feel I can trust those feelings and discern whether they really are from me or God: I know what my 'voice' sounds like, and overtime I've gotten better (but far from perfect) are reckonizing what God's voice feels like.

Maybe turn the question around: "is the true faith somewhere else? Should I look somewhere else?"

No no, for the answer to my prayers about my faith. i was saying that i have looked at all the areas we are taught for answers to my prayers. We are taught that the publications may answer some of our questions....because the leaders are God's appointed channel of dispensing spiritual truth.

Because, I think if you are looking for what we have that other Christians do not, that is a key aspect to LDS belief.

My first post asked basically how do you know you have the truth. The answers that have been given are similar to what we as JW's would say. So does anyone really know? i have prayed alot and yet i have doubts? I wonder what i am missing?

In addition to the scripture from Moroni 10:3-5 that I think Skippy posted a couple of pages ago--try Galatians 5:22-23 in the Bible. Paul is talking generally about the fruits of living in the Spirit according to the Gospel; but I've also found these to be present at the times God has been speaking to me. I've also noticed a sensation I can only describe as "intelligence"--knowledge that wasn't coming from me. As Paul puts it in 2 Timothy 1:7--"power, and . . . love, and . . . a sound mind".

Hmmmm, look back in your life. Can you find some kind of situation where, with the experience of hindsight, you can see that it really was God who was guiding you? I'll bet, with enough thought, you can. What do you remember about that experience?

This! Maybe God not answering your prayer is leading you to ask some different questions.

Its not the history of the church that led me to believe The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Lords church restored to the earth. I read the Book of Mormon and gained a testimony of its truthfulness. I invite you to do the same.
