Rosie apparently didn't get the job hosting The Price is Right. The reason? She ad-libbed the line, "Remember to spay and neuter your Republicans."

Duh, ya think that might have had something to do with it?

Doesn't she get that it's not always the right time to spout wacko political views...during a job interview?

Duh, do you think your reliance on stupid hater blogs to get your whacko anti-Rosie information might have something to do with that fact that you got the story completely wrong?

Rosie made the revelation during a crowd-pleasing twenty-minute standup routine on the L.A. stop of the Human Rights Coalition's True Colors tour on Saturday [a tour with Cyndi Lauper]. The outspoken Democrat joked that one of the reasons the "Price" gig didn't happen was because she ad libbed the line, "Don't forget to spay and neuter your Republicans."

You see all of you Rosie-haters, It was a comedy sketch. She wasn't being serious. Barker's office even confirmed there had never been an interview since people like you actually took the story out of context and believed it was true.

As far as her not needing the money to take the job, there is also more to the story.

In order for her to take the job, she would have to uproot her family from New York to LA. She did consider it, but finally decided it was more important not to upset her family, as she has young children who she was afraid would suffer from the move. So because she doesn't need the money, i.e., doesn't need a job, she decided to stay in New York for her family.

All you Rosie-haters, I've seen you "LOL" at her a number of times, and each time you've been wrong about her.

I don't hate her, Emma...but I do find her abrasive and annoying, I feel sorry for her...but as I said in another thread...she sets herself up for alot of this abuse...You are right...it is not fair, but when you put strong views out there with no tolerance for other peoples views...you set yourself up for retaliation. Fair or not.

She has made herself a characature.

Hey, I'm not saying anyone has to like her. I have no problem with any of you disliking her politics, her humor, her outspokenness, or anything like that.

What I am opposed to, and I have seen it on this board a number of times, is when you post "Rosie incidents" that are flat-out wrong about what really happened.

She did not go to an interview and say "Remember to spay and neuter your Republicans." Whoever originally said that is a liar. Then it's on a blog, then CK gets it and repeats it as fact. It wasn't!

She said it in a comedy sketch, and therefore it was perfectly normal for her to say such a thing in that context.

Barker's office was contacted and verified she had never been interviewed by them.

So then my problem is that the story is so outrageous I immediately see red flags, so I check it out, and sure enough the story is a lie.

By the way, I do this all the time for republicans, and people I vehememently disagree with as well.

Make all the fun of her you want for the things she really said in the context she relaly said it! Go for it!

I don't hate her..

I think she's great....

A beautiful example of the truly loony left in the country.

hehehe. . . . remind you of anyone here on the boards?

Emma

Whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep at night, Emma.

Meaning what?

CK, Like I told Yediyd, you don't have to like her. I have no problem with that.

Just don't repeat stories about her that are untrue or out of context.

Isn't that a reasonable request?

nah.. I don't automatically consider someone as a nut just because I don't agree with their politics. Its how extreme they are, and both the right and left is guilty of this.

Using this definition of nuttiness, though I would have to conclude that Rosie is a nut, based on things I've seen of hers.

Though she is no more nuttier (is that even a word?) then Rush Limbaugh, just different extremes of the ideological spectrum..

I agree with you on this. Not only are they equally extreme (often for just the purpose of extremism) and both sides have gotten crossed regarding what it means to be a lineral or conservative.

Whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep at night, Emma. That phrase is my way of symbolically waving the hand and shrugging the shoulders and saying, "Meh...whatever."

So I got the context of Rosie's story wrong. It wasn't intentional. Saw-reeeee! B) I didn't make up something she didn't say, however. The fact that she said it at all is indicative of something... :hmmm:

Yes, that's she's a comic.

C'mon, admit it. If Rush had said something like that about democratics, you'd have been howling. :P

In 2004 someoe did a study and determined 21 percent of people 18-29 got their news from Stewart.

He and Steve Colbert make for quite the hilarious hour.

Okay, here is a somewhat objective report of the incident: http://www.actressarchives.com/news.php?id=6490

While I agree that the story smelled overdrawn from the git-go, it would not surprise me in the least if a good portion of Rosie not getting the position had to do with her divisiveness. If she wants to do partisan humor, let her get a gig on Air America, and see if she can succeed, where so many have failed, at giving Guru El-Rushbo a run for his money.

Now THAT would be awsome....a debate between Rush and Rosie!!!!!!

Thanks for the link PC. I'm still confused as to if she went somewhere else and auditioned, or if the 20-min. comedy sketchwas her audition.

Ultimately it doesnt matter, as I agree with you. She would never have been able to keep her beliefs to her self and it would have distracted from the show.

I wonder if she has thought of Air America. She'd be good at it.

She claims she never really interviewed/auditioned. I'm quite certain that the comedy bit was not her test run.

Strident political views--especially those that tilt eastward--would not disqualify her...intentionally and repeatedly antagonizing middle class America might.
