Republican because the recipients of the gifts need to work hard all year and be a good boy or girl.  The lazy bad kids don't get squat.

Santa Claus is obviously a politician (Republican or Democrat and in some case religions) - that promises extra and unearned gifts to all those that go along with and are part of their particular cause.
