Canuck Mormon Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Did anyone else notice the PayPal button on the top right of the site? Is this new? I remember reading that someone suggested the site could accept donations for some upgrades. Quote
Dr T Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 She added it today, after the suggestion. Quote
BenRaines Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 The button is new. Heather was being asked about ability to post pictures and they can be done better with new software. At this point the site is maintained by Heather and paid for by Heather and a few advertising dollars. I do not think it is a positive cash flow busines. She placed the PayPal button there for anyone who would like to donate to keep it running and add features. Would also be nice to see a list of supporters of the site. Ben Raines Quote
Canuck Mormon Posted July 10, 2007 Author Report Posted July 10, 2007 This is by far the best LDS discussion site I've been on. I plan on donating as soon as my wedding (this weekend) is over and we pay down our credit cards a bit. I would hate to see this site fold. Quote
BenRaines Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Please do not be concerned. It is not an issue of seeing site fold. More of an issue of being able to add some new bells and whistles with pictures. Ben Raines Quote
Marsha Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 I too will support this forum. I do agree that it would be nice to see a list of supporters. Marsha Quote

Guest Yediyd Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 All you people that owe me 20$ can just send it to Heather!!! I'm feelin' generous!!!!!! Quote
pam Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Nope. I use it for all my Ebay purchase as well. Now whether you use it to collect money I don't know. But for the things I use it for I am not charged a fee. Quote
FrankJL Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Paypal does charge you when you use it to accept paypal payments on ebay, which is ironic considering e-bay hits you with a final value fee too, and e-bay bought paypal some years ago, so they just get to hit you with two fee's when you use it. Quote
pam Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I wondered if they charged to accept payments. I just knew when I was paying for a purchase on ebay I wasn't being charged a fee. Quote
Heather Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 It never costs you to send money. If you have a basic account, and only accept money from a buyer's bank account, you don't pay any fees to accept money either. But, if you want to accept credit cards, then it does charge you a fee, no matter where the money comes from. I setup the donation button with an account that accepts credit cards, so there is a small transaction fee, but nothing too major. Quote
pam Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 The fee wouldn't matter to me anyway Heather. The fact that I can come to this site and enjoy myself (most times ) is worth it. Thanks for having this site. I have enjoyed it for many years and hope for many more to come. Quote
Guest Yediyd Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Frank...if she tells you...she will have to kill you!!! Quote

Thanks for the idea :) Actually, Heather...I don't think that is a good idea, here is why: in Matt. chap. 6 Jesus talks about almsgivers and their rewards. Personally, I would rather see my reward in the great site this turns out to be, and not get the praises of men for what small contribution I may come up with. Putting an icon on our names is just a way for us to be like the Pharisees, and just do good for the praises of man. Does that make any sence? I'm not trying to be a jerk....just my opinion. Quote
Heather Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 LOL too true! Didn't think of it that way. Quote
