pam Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 My understanding has always been that a woman could be sealed to more than one man as long as all are deceased and as long as they were married during life. Is my misunderstanding incorrect or has something changed on this? Anddenex 1 Quote
Latter Days Guy Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Found this but don't know if it directly answers your question or not! http://askgramps.org/3359/can-a-woman-be-sealed-to-more-than-one-man Quote

I manage and run that website. It is because of the comments on the facebook page that I am asking. But someone did quote from the CHI 1 which is basically saying what I have always understood. Quote
Latter Days Guy Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Just checked a bit more and it would seem your correct! And thanks for all the work you've put in on the Ask Gramps, its a great resource for people like me who have non member partners! Oh and shouldn't it be Ask Granny! Quote
Guest Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Were they saying on FB that you can't? Maybe they conflated the eternal order of women only sealed to one man in the eternities to say you can't perform sealings of women to all her husbands by proxy. It's easy to forget that the sealing is not complete until the deceased accepts it but that they can't have the opportunity to accept it unless the sealing is performed. Quote

Maureen Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 From reading the Facebook conversation, those situations might be a case of reality not following written procedure. M. Quote

Vort Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 The overwhelming majority of grandfathers who have ever lived are currently dead. Sobering but true Vortic Fact o' the Day. Backroads and carlimac 2 Quote
PolarVortex Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Vortic Facts? I had privately nicknamed them Vortoids long ago. Vort 1 Quote
Vort Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Vortoids? They make medicated pads for those. Pretty sure the adjective "Vortic" originated with you. Quote
PolarVortex Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 Perhaps you're right, the -oid isn't very nice at all. Why don't we call them Vortifacts? They fall like hailstones and deserve their own noun. Vort 1 Quote
garryw Posted February 18, 2015 Report Posted February 18, 2015 My understanding is that, although JS Jr. married already married women, they only were sealed to one of the husbands (him). So I think women have to be dead to get multiple sealings, but only one will be valid so the others are just meaningless "paperwork". Quote
pam Posted February 18, 2015 Author Report Posted February 18, 2015 Gramps is dead?!?! Did you really not know that? :) Quote
Anddenex Posted February 25, 2015 Report Posted February 25, 2015 Pam, your understanding is the way I have understood the practice. It really doesn't matter what Joseph Smith or Brigham Young had done as things change regarding practices (9th AoF). pam 1 Quote
