We have looked at listings in Lynnwood, Lake Stvens, Marysville, and Arlington. A 3 bd would be nice as we have 3 kids. Also we aould just like to know about the church members in the area and hopefully make some new friends. All our family lives here in Utah and Wyoming so we've never been more than 2 hrs away. The Church is strong here in Washington, in my opinion! I wish I could give you more info about Everett. I will ask around at church or better yet, make a few calls to see where you could get more information. Good luck with your move! I was always looking for a slicker and hat that were NOT bright yellow. They have them for kids- in cute florals and plaids, but then again, at night OSHA yellow does stand out!Forget the umbrella - rain there in the Pacific NW does NOT fall straight down, it comes at you sideways and upwards from the sidewalk!! The wind will grab your 'brella and blow it out backwards! Don't waste your money.Talking of the rain and rain slickers sure makes me homesick! Wow, is that ever true about the umbrellas getting ruined all the time....the poor kids! Bu that is the price we pay for the gorgeous, green scenery! Hopefully I get some responses on this. ThanksTrev Hi Trev,I am not a member of the church but lived in the Everett, Lynnwood area for 8 yrs before moving with my husband in the Navy. Lynwood and Everett have their nice areas but there is also a lot of crime in those areas. It is definately big city life. I would avoid most of Everett. As for Lake Stevens, Marysville - nice areas as I remember but definately a mixed group of people. There is a lot of Native Americans in the area due to tribal lands. There is also a lot of transent population where people move in and out. Some of it is military (navy base) and others are trying to live avoid issues. However there is a lot of very nice people in all the groups. Just very different from Wyoming and Utah since I lived near Wyoming growing up in Northern Colorado (Ft. Collins area). Marysville has one of the largest casinos in the state with the tulalip tribe. The schools in both areas are descent. They are growing communities and probably less small town as they use to be and more a part of the greater Seattle area now. Arlington is a nice area. I have friends up there who love it and wouldn't move. It is feels like a small town but close enough to the larger towns to get shopping and other supplies easily. As for the church, I cannot say but definately would say that from the missionaries I have met from that area as well as the ones I am at now, friends, etc. It is a nice area for church life. Not sure where this, "No one in the NW uses an umbrella," line is coming from. I live around the Olympia/Tacoma area, and I see people use umbrellas regularly when it rains hard. Then again, most people drive or take the bus everywhere...it's pretty rare to see pedestrians or anyone who'd need an umbrella for an extended walk outside. Maybe in Olympia moreso than Tacoma. Only had an umbrella once - the wind turned it inside out and that was it for me. The rain seldom falls straight down - it falls sideways and it also feels like it rains up from the sidewalk. I also lived on the Oregon Coast, for over 25 years- halfway between the Washington and California boarders. Again - same thing. Only the tourists from states other than Washington and Oregon bought umbrellas and tried to use them. Watched most of those umbrellas get blown inside out too.
