anatess2
I'm taking this out of the Last Movie you Watched thread and making it its own because... it was really really good. Okay, so there were several bloody scenes, people getting run over by chariots and the like... to be expected. Besides the wonderful scenery and excellent cinematography - especially the chariot race - what really set this movie apart is the subtle plot changes that made this movie a refreshing oasis in modern America. I can't really divulge such plot changes without ruining the movie for everybody but yeah, when this comes out on video, I wouldn't mind watching it on the Sabbath. pam
I have no desire to see it. To me..no one can play Ben Hur like Charlton Heston. Backroads and lonetree

Charlton Heston is incomparable. The new Ben-Hur is the "Young Ira" from The Longest Ride and I really liked him in that movie. And he did a great job with Ben-Hur too. But yeah, I have to say, the story made this movie, the acting was just okay.

I didn't know this before but Boyd was hoping to star in Cleopatra alongside Elizabeth Taylor, but the timing did not turn out right. Larry Cotrell
Ben-Hur (1959) was more extravagant than the new one. However, the new one was fantastic. I really enjoyed it. Blackmarch
