You don't have to be a member or have a testimony to appreciate what the church is doing with the mall.  Just have to have some sort of understanding of how large amounts of money get handled by various owning entities.  Most people don't have a clue (I only have a portion of a clue).  Basically:

* The church has a bazillion dollars in savings (people think this is somehow wrong, but it isn't).
* When you have savings, you HAVE to pick an investment vehicle (people don't get this).
* Owning and maintaining real estate is as valid an option as "keeping it in the bank", in that all vehicles have risk/return profiles (people don't get this either).

I get that and you get that...but there are numerous critics that don't.

Not you meaning Carb but if you don't like Casablanca @Carborendum, you got problems pal.

I guess I've got problems.  I think Casablanca is one of the worst movies of all time!  (notice the exclamation point -- I could also bold it.  But that would be over the top).  It was completely lacking in color -- meaning it was filmed in black and white.  Why would they do that?  Is that really supposed to be artsy?  I think not.  Didn't the filmmakers even know about Kodachrome and Technicolor?  It looked like some art school pic trying to masquerade as something classical.

And the sound was just pathetic.  I mean, c'mon.  Where is the surround sound?  The THX?  The Dolby?

And those old style planes and architecture they used for set design.  Then the wardrobe.  Heck.  It was like something out of the Forties.  What's that all about?  Then don't even get me started on their treatment of Sam as the token Black guy.  Oh! Heavens...

Yup, complainers can come up with pure sophistry sometimes.

We need to be honest @pam. If the church came out tomorrow with a cure for cancer that was quick, painless and given to everyone free of charge and immediately-critics would STILL not be satisfied. It's the blunt truth.

You have serious problems but they have nothing to do with your taste in movies or your pathetic attempt at humor pal.

What are you calling pathetic?  That was worthy of Steve Martin.  Yes, I do have a high opinion of my sense of humor despite what my wife and kids tell me all the time.

Of course not, because until they come out with a cure for heart attacks, anything happening immediately in my ward would cause mass carnage among the observers.

Heck, if the building burned down, most of them would cook while they were arguing about whether to use the north or the south doors.

Gator, you need to keep in mind that Carb is only a one-wife man (as far as I know). They see things a little differently from many-wives men.

Very true. Combine that with his extremely limited mental ability and that can lead to problems. Serious and scary problems.
