2nd Patriarchal Blessing

Has anyone ever known of anyone receiving a 2nd Patriarchal blessing?  I know it's been done because the lineage was left out.  But have you ever heard of it happening because a person was not comfortable with their original one?

I know of one and have heard of another.  The first felt they had reached the end of the expectations of their first blessing and sought a second.  The second was like your case.  They were uncomfortable with the first and sought another.  They are discouraged for the most part and might be difficult depending on who is approving.

Except for the times when lineage got left out, it's done VERY rarely.  If you're looking at it, it would be a conversation to have with your bishop.

My bishop has already told me that he would give me a recommend to get a new one.  I have been struggling with a few things and am trying to build my faith before going ahead with it.

I just never had heard of it being done before.

Since your Bishop is willing, go for it!

For you?  Go talk to your bishop Sunday    There's no set timeline, but it's usually sought with the first year of membership.

I’ve never heard of a second patriarchal blessing although I have heard of baptisms.

I have heard of it but it is rare - I have heard of people getting turned down.

I knew of a person who felt that there should haven been more that something was missing. - They received permission and did get a 2nd.  In the blessing of the 2nd they were told that there were parts left out of the first blessing because they were not ready to hear them yet and received the confirmation that them obtaining the 2nd part was necessary.

I am like probably most people who would love to hear more but mine is pretty full and takes me all the way through my life.  I would think in some rare ocassions the spirit may prompt for a 2nd but my guess is this is like one in 10,000 type number we are talking about, (very rare).

So, my father mentioned that his blessing leaves out his lineage. I told him that he c/should go to his current patriarch and get that given to him. But he is of the mind that you only get one.

Any sources I could recommend to him so that he might be motivated to get that?

I have never heard of 2nd PBs for any reason except for lineage not declared, but apparently others have, know of, experiences where there might be leeway. Intriguing.

I've been asked about this before. This is the council from the brethren ... "second patriarchal blessings are not encouraged."
