Guest Posted March 8, 2018 Report Posted March 8, 2018 (edited) Has anyone tried looking up scriptures on the Church website recently? I can't find a search bar. All we have is the overall search bar. Then you have to click the scriptural subcategory separately to find a list of scriptures. I don't like that arrangement. I liked the fact that footnotes and references would show up in the previews. Now ithey don't. Edited March 8, 2018 by Guest Quote
Jane_Doe Posted March 8, 2018 Report Posted March 8, 2018 They're been trying a new format (they asked me to provide feedback on it), and it's being glitchy. Like Monday I couldn't get the AofF to load up. As to the foot notes, I know that at least in the old version, on the righthand side their was an option to toggle them on/off. I personally like them on for studying, off for me quoting scripture. Quote
NeuroTypical Posted March 8, 2018 Report Posted March 8, 2018 https://www.lds.org/scriptures or scriptures.lds.org I type either into my browser, and get where I wanna be. Actually, if I just type the "s", the rest of the link shows up automatically, although your experience may vary. Quote

And I got back to the interface I like. But having the option inevitably means that they're transitioning to the new format which is missing certain features. I can hope that they put those features back in like google maps did with measuring distances on the maps. Quote

So I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for lost features to be restored. Their answer to my request was functionally "no" and implicitly "there's something wrong with you, you should repent of your sin of speaking ill of the Lord's software". What I can't get on my phone is both the video and text. I get a lot more out of reading and listening if I can listen to the spoke word as I read the text. That way it's more reinforced in my mind. But when I go to the video, the text is inaccessible. So, I went and uninstalled the GL app. I downloaded a version of the LDS scriptures for my study. I downloaded the video and text separately directly to my phone. Then I used two different apps to both listen and read at the same time. So, yes, I'd agree that the GL app has problems, err, uhmm... "features". it's almost like they don't want us to use the GL app. Quote

There's a second place for audio-only that leaves the text visible. If you decide you want to go back, let me know and I'll give details. Quote

NeuroTypical Posted March 8, 2018 Report Posted March 8, 2018 (edited) Nope. The bishop has stewardship over everyone in his ward - even the tares. The harvest isn't yet - still time to turn into wheat! Edited March 8, 2018 by NeuroTypical zil 1 Quote
