Guest Posted May 5, 2018 Report Posted May 5, 2018 Yes, unlikely source: NYT. Report about US backed Kurdish troops killed a whole lotta Russians a couple months ago. I don't remember hearing about it. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/02/13/world/europe/russia-syria-dead.html I love how the headline makes it sound like the US were the aggressors. But the article clearly states that the US and Kurdish forces were the victims of an unprovoked attack by the Russian-backed Syrian forces. But take a look at their statement: Quote Most of the fatalities were attributed to an American airstrike on enemy columns that was called in by American-backed Kurdish soldiers who believed they were under attack. Yes, they were under attack. So far, it appears that no one is contesting the idea that the Kurds and the US were just hanging out in their base in a completely defensive posture. Both sides acknowledge this. Yet, the NYT only said the Kurds "believed" they were under attack. Mmm Hmm. Quote
JohnsonJones Posted May 5, 2018 Report Posted May 5, 2018 I believe this made the news repeatedly a few months ago if it's the same incident where Russian "Mercenaries" attacked a few American troops. At first the Russians stated they only lost a few, but then it increased to a couple dozen and by the time Intelligence findings had come out or something they stated they had lost several hundred Russian "mercenaries" in that engagement. Traveler Posted May 5, 2018 Report Posted May 5, 2018 It is very difficult to believe anything covered in the news. If one does not understand the bias of the reporting then most likely the news they think they are getting is actually fake. When Traveling in Europe often there were places to purchase items that were advertised as genuine fakes. How interesting – I thought – our news outlets should use that as a byline to the information they provide. The Traveler Quote
