Momon 8:25

I would have read this verse at least once a year for the last few decades, but it's only a few minutes ago that I have come to understand it in a new light.

25 And behold, their ^aprayers were also in behalf of him that the Lord should suffer to bring these things forth

My understanding of this verse is that those same prophets who prayed for the coming forth of the Book of Mormon also prayed for the person who would bring it forth - past prophets praying for a future prophet who is now a past prophet, in mortal terms. I wasn't previously aware of this.

Well we know that Lehi was aware of Joseph by name as he prophesied to his son Joseph. I would imagine that Mormon was also aware of Joseph since he saw our day. But it would make sense that perhaps many others have also.

Often scripture is like an onion with many layers of meaning.  Your perspective brings a wonderful addition to my own but also caused me to pause and ponder.  Perhaps this verse could also think of “him” as plural and as such refers to the many saints (including sisters) of these last days that have brough forth these truths through out all the world – to every nation, tongue and people.
