When you told me your son got through fine I was happy for him obviously, but also surprised given what I heard. Quote

Until very recently, I assumed that everyone in Houston glided through the hurricane like my son and his family did. Obviously I was mistaken. Yes, your son was in the perfect spot. Centerpoint placed priority on Houston proper because it is the hub for... well... EVERYthing. First responders, emergency supply hubs, transportation, etc. So, his power was among the first to get power restored. I'm outside the population center by quite a distance. So, my area was pushed until later. I finally had power back on Friday. But my internet was spotty until today, maybe some time last evening. This was the longest I've been without power in my entire life. It was getting scary. I had been thinking about getting a generator. But I just didn't ever take the time to look into it very much. Now I know I have a couple of options. Normally, I'd do several things to prep for this kind of thing. But for some reason, my mind was caught up in other things to the point that I completely spaced most of what I'd do for emergency prep. And I happened to forget when we had the worst power outage ever (AFAIK). Vort 1 Quote
