has anyone used another member in another state to buy something used?
bcguy replied to bcguy's topic in General Discussion
He concurred that he was to get a picture of him, and his drivers license sent to me. Something sounded kind of fishy when his shop said he was sick, yet, he broke his hip. That is a big difference. The only other reason he may not have called back was possibly sent to the hospital due to his hip issue and thus, could not return my call. -

Hire a security company, a locksmith or a retired police officer for half a day and have them represent you. Then rest assured, if the product matches the description, not stolen based on serial number, then the transaction can proceed between the proxy buyer you hired, and the seller. -

He said he is going to get a picture of him self, and his drivers license plus more pictures of the item so that's good news. We will be doing the transaction via pay pal "pay pal does not expose your credit car number to the seller" so it seems good to go one more pictures roll my way. -

Problem is, this is a specialty item. Ebay is now no where a bargain anymore and this item gets LOTS of bids there. Economy in his area sucks, and is isolated. The shop he works at is online, nice shop, I called it, and thay got him to the phone. He is upgrading and wants to take the funds from this to buy a better product. -

In this day and age, you can get anything from anywhere but there is the question "will I get what I paid for" from a private party. -
If an intruder came into your home what would you do*?

As soon as the break in attempt happens, then the automatic German Sheppard bark box goes off. I don't think he would attempt to break in then. Last time some one attempted to break into the owners truck at a collage campus, the owners dog on leash was awaken on other side of truck, he went around and pounced on the thief with fangs growling at his face as the dog stood on his chest. -

There may be something you want to buy, and you could be shelling out 1 thousand or more dollars. But at the same time, because of distance between you and the seller, you cannot see it for your self for example, if it is in the next state. You want to make sure you are getting what is offered instead of the seller cashing the check and disappearing. One way to find out the trustworthiness for example is eBay feedback profile if it is a Ebay sale. It is very reliable. Case point, wife did not dig into the persons profile after getting a movie dvd from the person. We latter found out, the movie was not even on dvd yet. We dig into his profile, and at least two occasions the buyers accused him of pirating. I'm talking about bigger ticket items costing thousands. I would be comfortable having a trusted members of the church to check out the item, make sure it works, then have the seller box up the item, and exchange it for the money order that I send to the member of the church. That member then would have a shipping company wrap it, then send it. I reimburse the member for time and shipping cost. Unless there is a more trusted way of doing this, I think this is the best option I know of. Does anyone here know of anyone in the Anchorage Alaska Stake? This is where the item is -
In this day and age, fraud, misrepresentation and other issues makes it difficult to buy something from afar based on some ones words. This of course, never used to be a problem 20 year ago. I am looking at plunking down between 1-2 grand for a automotive scanner and thought of the idea of using a trusted member of the church who may live next to the seller to check out the item, see it run, then hand them a money order in exchange for the item. Then take the item, and wrap and ship it for a small fee. I am looking at a scanner in Rialto CA and trusting the persons words. Thanks :)

My sleap apnea is resolved with the cpap. I get the worst sleep if for any time I do not use it. Now, is there a habbit that I should do by not eating at a cirtain time? I also go for long walks it tends to relax me and makes my body feel good after I come home before going off to bed. I will take up some of these ideas on medications. My wife is part of the problem also, Cannot do anything about it. she likes watching tv and using the internet in the master bedroom. Tonight it was 11:30 a hour after the agreed time. I asked her to turn it off and she said "okay Hitller" I said never say that. You can never compare that monster compared to the comment you made tonight.

I hope I spelled that correctly :) I have sleep apnea and have a cpap that helps a great deal. In the last two-three years, I have also been experiencing insomnia. I get up at 3 am watch tv till 4 -5 am and go back to bed. Part of the issue is of course, the wife. She likes to keep the tv on till 10:30 and some times latter in the master bedroom. She has struke a deal with me to have it turned off at 10:30. But I wonder if the effects of having a noisy device like a tv has some what caused my insomnia? Also, has anyone here had or have insomnia and figured a way to sleep at least five hours? Anyone here tried melatonin and it worked? Thanks

people are so judgmental. What verse is it that shows jesus saying "he who has not sinned toss the first stone?" When a bunch of locals are ready to stone a woman for sinning?

Life can be difficult like the turbulence of a river, or the calmness of the straits. Life is like a Roller coaster but, you and only you can select the path that the coaster can lead. Pick the track with a crack in it, it is much shorter to your destination, but will you select it anyway because some one else did and survived? You may not! That track can be the path to drugs! No one but your self picks and chooses your course in life. But being CONSCIOUS of others on how hay precieve you as well as god will really determine your destination. Just do your BEST and it will work out in the end. Don's dwell on death like I did as a kid. If I go tomorrow, so be it. For there is a death, there is a birth in this world. Just do your best at being moral, ethical, show trust, be chase "hard in these times". Most of all, AVOID the wrong people, the wrong locations.

I wonder just how darn important these ports were? I imagine the fuel storage or fuel offloading was damaged, thus not enough fuel getting to the fuel stations. This could happen to a part of the US that depends on its ports for import and export uses where the ports are damaged or blocked. Tsunami disruption spreads deep into Japan - Yahoo! News

Do what you think is best. Also, as a learning lesson from visiting a Russian sub, the way they stored food was to put all the cans on the floor in the hallway and cover it with plywood. The same can be done for a room or what ever part of a house. Put plywood on cans with carpet. Or, on plywood. Then have little trap doors to open up on the floor to pull out the cans when needed. If you have room, then use shelving.

Some how, the URL never was saved with the rest of the text. The system is by omega hydroponic

This topic may be of interest for people who have a large enough place, a barn or storage space that is not being use to grow hydroponic garden. Even then, a small space may work. Take a look at one method of growing hydroponic. It is self maintaining other then the occasional of adding growing medium. It is also compact form of growing your veggies hydroponically.

Probably good idea to put it on a tough ID bracelet. Who knows maybe your unconscious, and this id would help medics identify who you are, what med you may be allergic to, and also out of town contacts. Lastly, when was the last time all of you people were vaccinated? Disease usually crops up after a disaster.

I am sure just about everyone here has followed the events that unfolded in japan last week. Even if the disaster was 200 miles away, it can still indirectly affect your town..if it had the same circumstances in japan. With Tokyo 190 miles away from Sendia, Tokyo, seems to be having a food shortage. CNN.com - Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News Sendai is also having serious issues with resources. Food, Electricity, Power, Fuel, Food and now, the nuclear threat is imposing serious challenges to survive. My question to you all, do you have your GO BAG and FUEL containers of fuel ready to go? If you are going to stay, do you have enough of all the essentials to survive a big disaster? Does anyone here also have a check off checklist to fill out of what is needed per person per day? Lastly, don't depend on local emergency first responders if there is a need during a disaster. Chances are, they will be overwhelmed. Worst cast, the fire truck may not even leave the fire station if the quake damages the garage doors, preventing them from opening. This was one of the reasons why the fires spread quickly in Francisco. My emergency list is as follows: -Water supply for a month -Food supply for a month or more -Sanitation -way to dispose of for a month. Sewer pipes may be cracked. -Canisters of Fuel stored away with fuel stabilizer. -Emergency pool of water, water pump and fire hose. Fires erupt after quakes. -4X4 with winch. -4x4 trailer to haul the extra gear -Hamradio -GPS - Use GPS to record your houses lat/long location incase fire or Tsunami wipes out location -Arm band gps- incase you are injured and imbobalized, you can radio out your location -Riffle or shotgun yes security is important -Out of area emergency communications -Medicine -prybar - One guy was stuck in his bathroom for a few hours because the house frame twisted, keeping his door shut tight. What if the house was on fire? keep a pry bar in windowless rooms to pry open the door. -Chainsaw - to cut the down trees across the road. List goes on and on. I think if you had the money, a 4x4 and trailer, then most of these items can already be sitting inside the trailer in a locked garage.

I am also a vet. I have seen guys getting married for the WRONG reasons. Often a lack of maturity. Those that do get married, are married for the right reason. A woman or man has to get use to the fact of what it is like to be single again. It is hard for the marriage "A woman wants her man next to him and not be lonely" -
running red lights is tricky. If you misjudge, it can mean the difference between life and death or disability. Is is worth it? I usally stay the speed limit "my vehicle drive like a tractor" I also drive some times like a hyper miller. I see the green turning yellow 1/8 of a mile down the road and take my foot off the throttle. By the time light turns green, I have not stopped yet, and just speed up. It saved in fuel economy! Talking about hyper mileing, scedule your stops as one single trip, instead of several trips. Write errand list down and when you are going to do them. Or like me, walk to your destination. Its good for the body.
