  1. SilverDove, The only thing I can see that you are not "doing correctly" is....All new members are supposed to pass around a box of cream-filled chocolates. Well....I'm waiting. Seriously, welcome! Hope you like it here. :)
  2. Welcome. The Gospel is indeed worldwide...and growing. Hope you enjoy your stay here.
  3. https://www.lds.org.uk/ Look around and I think you may find some local help. Don't just read the Book of Mormon, read it with prayer & fasting. Glad you are here. Hope you stay with us.
  4. Did I miss it, or did no one mention the slaughter of UCLA by BYU? 59-0! And that was with BYU taking out their starters in the 3rd quarter.
  5. Howdy. Hope you stay and learn....along with the rest of us. BTW: Your last name isn't Rush, is it? One of my favorite movies: August Rush
  6. mormongurl2, Don't know what you are apologizing for. But what the haystack.........I forgive you. Stick around. The fun is just beginning.
  7. My question on this issue has been: If we resurrect with our bodies, what purpose will some of our anatomy serve in the Kingdoms? Will we need a digestive system? Yes, Jesus reportedly ate fish to show His apostles that he did have a body, but will we need to eat? And what the end functions? Will we need to excrete? Gas? Will our noses still create mucos? Will our other organs be needed? Will kidneys still have to process waste? To what purpose will our bodies serve us as perfected beings?
  8. What came to my mind is something David O McKay used to quote: Sow a thought, reap an action; Sow an action; reap a habit; Sow a habit; reap a character; Sow a character; reap an eternal destiny.
  9. Temple ceremonies, partaking of the sacrament, priesthood blessings--these are all things in which I believe a serious concern for reverence is needed. However, I do know for sure that God has a sense of humor..............................everytime I look in a mirror!
  10. Chaplain, Why do you see space travelers as "demonic"? Why do you think that "...we would be doomed to subservience"? That is negative thinking. I would think that a man of God, even one limited to the Bible, would be a positive thinker. Why not consider that because such creatures (we humans are creatures in that we are creations of God) are advanced that they have also learned to be kind in the truest sense? Having a PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) as Paul H. Dunn was fond of saying is an attribute of one who believes.
  11. Chaplain, your statement is egotistical and rather limited in understanding as to our Father's plan and the vastness of the universe. It reminds me of the Catholic church and its opposition to the teachings of Galilleo and Copernicus, the Church insisting that the univerise was built for man alone and that all things revolved around the earth. Moses 1:33 "And worlds without number have I created; and I also created them for mine own purpose; and by the Son I created them, which is mine Only Begotten."
  12. OK, this is going to sound weird. There are two dreams I remember from my early childhood. The second one was when I was eight years old, just shortly after my mother died. That is not the one I am about to discuss here. The first dream I remember was much earlier than my eighth year, but I do not know exactly how much earlier. I think, somehow it applies to this thread, so here goes.... I am standing in a sunlit field, full of green grass and multi-colored flowers. I am a child and I am afraid. Before me is a forest, deep and dark and foreboding. I am being told by two beings behind me that I must enter the forest. The two beings behind me are a man and a woman, both in silver metallic suits, spacesuits I would call them today but then I was very young and had no idea of what a spacesuit might look like. They are standing in front of a large oval spaceship, also silver, and again I would not have known then what such a spaceship might look like. The ship stands on slender legs and a series of stairs extends to the ground from an opening in the ship. I do not want to go into the forest. I do not want to leave the man and the woman behind me, but they urge me on and I know I must go. I know I will not see them again, at least not for a very long time. End of dream. OK, you all put the phones down and stop calling your psychiatrists friends.
  13. "Raise up a child in the way [she] should go, and when [she] is old [she] will not depart from it." OK, you daughter is not yet "old", but she is older. You have obviously raised her well. Good job!
  14. Bettina, welcome. Alabama huh. Name of one of my favorite singing groups. Hope you enjoy yourself here.
  15. Nibowaka - One who sees all I had a Scout I worked with, not the person who gave me the name, who once told me that I spoke "Eye English". He said that he could tell what I wanted, or how I felt, just by watching my eyes. I do have a way with some people of feeling deep empathy and being able to communicate on a non-verbal level. This works best for me with youth.
  16. Hey, SW. What? You are not perfect. Well, you gotta go. Only us perfect people are allowed here. You can't see our hallos? Me I've think I'm being translated even as I type..............oh, I'm almost gone. No. Wait. That was just gas! Have fun.
  17. Seems like Sacrament meeting is the place to nod. To be honest, some of the speakers are...boring. I think the talks, at times, are more for their growth than for the congregation's benefit, though I do try to get something positive from each talk. Have fun on the board.
  18. Welcome, Yellowhill. Is your nick taken from a hill near you? Is it yellow with daffodills (sp?)...or with gold! Hope you enjoy your time with us.
  19. Wow. Great story of searching and faith. Welcome. Enjoy your stay.
  20. Hi, RachelAnne. Glad to have you with us. Please continue to read and ponder the scriptures, always seeking the Truth. God will bless you, as it says in Moroni 10: 3-5. Your family may not accept now the Light you are coming to know, but with time, faith, and prayer they may. Even if they do not, you have to decide to do what is right and live the fulness of the Gospel. May our Father bless you. Like you, I had difficulty with my family when I was first introduced to the Gospel. I was 16. My father threatened to throw the missionaries out of the house. None of the rest of the family had any interest. (My mother died when I was eight years of age; I have had her Temple work done, as well as for my father who has since passed on.) Be strong. Have faith.
  21. Hi. Glad to have you here. Hope you find the site useful and fun. More of your story...please.
  22. Re: Abandonment. Yes, on the cross Christ said, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" When we find ourselves separated from God, it is because of our sins; we abandon God. Christ was sinless and had God's blessings and presence all the days of his mortal life, except for that brief period on the cross. Christ is, in this case as in others, a special case. He had to suffer a momentary loss of God's attention to fulfill His Atonement. It was yet another test, as those in the desert shortly before his three-year mission. As in all things, Christ fulfilled His Father's will. Any other comments? Anyone?
  23. Breeb, I first read your post about fasting this morning, but I had to run off to work. I have been thinking about your issue all day. Now I know for a fact that there are some really smart people here and people who understand the Gospel, certainly people smarter than me and more in tune with the Gospel than me. Having written that, however, I have a few points to ponder that I would like to offer you. First of all, please turn to Mosiah 4:24-25. I know these verses do not apply to fasting, but I think the general principle applies to your issue. In these verses we read: "And again I say unto the poor, ye who have not and yet have sufficient, that ye remain from day to day; I mean all you who deny the beggar, because ye have not; I would that ye say in your hearts that: I give not because I have not, but if I had I would give. // "And now, if ye say this in your hearts ye remain guiltless...." As I wrote above, the principle here is what is important. If you say in your heart: "I would fast if it were physically possible for me, but I cannot", then you will remain guiltless. Or, so it seems to me. God does judge us according to the desires of our hearts, as well as our acts. In addition to having the righteous desire to fast, I would suggest also: Prayer is a major component of a fast. Pray deeply, fervently, as Enos prayed. Give as much as you comfortably can, maybe a little more, in your fast offering. These principles and actions, viz., a heartfelt desire to honor God with a fast, fervent prayer, and a generous fast offering, will go a long way in fulfilling the duty to fast. May our Father bless you in all your righteous desires.
  24. Note: Changed my UserName from my surname to Nibowaka, an American Indian name give to me decades ago by a friend. Thanks to everyone for your kindness and warm welcomes.
  25. Hi, Jim Welcome. Hope you enjoy your time with us. Are you an Oilers fan? I have been a long-time Dallas Cowboys fan. How's your weather these days? Has Gustav's rains gotten as far as your area?
