  1. It would seem this model would eliminate the possibilty of other significant angels. What I mean is that how do we know significant angels are limited to those in the Bible and Book of Mormon. Couldn't it also be possible that one of these cherubims(or whatever the proper terminology is) comes from an ancient people that Christ visited and had disciples. We know Christ visited other people than in Jerusalem and the Americas. What if he visited, say, the African continent and spread the gospel to inhabitants there. He established a church and one of these people was a great man that became a cherubim. We just don't have those records yet.
  2. I find it make alot of sense. It has increased my appreciation for Chirist's atonement.
  3. Not sure if it helps but the apartment my wife and I rent here in Pocatello, Idaho is $395 a month. A large LDS population here. I'm sorry to hear about everything, I wish I could help out more.
  4. It just doesn't seem that to me the Book of Mormon offers enough information to determine specifics. It talks only about certain groups of people. Perhap there were other groups of people not mentioned in the Book of Mormon and it is their remains we are digging up right now.
  5. I think the church should have the right to perform these ordinances for anyone who has passed away. Who cares if we do baptisms for the dead for Holocaust victims? Since the Jews don't believe our church is true then our ordinances should have no meaning to them. Who cares if Barack Obama's mother was vicariously baptized. He shouldn't, he's not LDS. Our ordinances shouldn't have any significance for him as far as he views his mothers salvation.
  6. Thanks for all the responses everyone BTW. There is not check if I sit at home "and do nothing." But I have my time and work. My time and work have a value. I convert that time and work into a more commonly accepted form when I go to work. I convert it into Federal Reserve Notes. I'm losing things I could have that are of equal or greater value and converting it into another form with equal or lesser value. Now gtting a bonus that would be an increase. Or getting paid vacation that would be increase. If I give a company my time and work at a value of $10 per hour(-$10 per hour). They give me $10 in exchange for that time and work(+$10 per hour) So -$10+$10=0, I haven't gained anything. So john doe, I wouldn't give you my time and work for an occasional $2, because my time and work is worth more than that. I would be taking a loss. But if I gave service I wouldn't recieve compensation for my time and work expended and woul dbe taking a loss. As we all know that is sacrifice.
  7. Now before continuing I just want to say I'm not trying to get out of paying tithing. I do pay tithing on my paycheck and I know it's the right thing to do. Anyway... But I'm losing my time and work in proportion to the currency I am gaining. So it would not be an increase. True I did not have that money before but I did have time and potential work. I gave up that time and work to get the money. Now for a business owner I can understand. You have the goods you produce. You are minus and the cost of producing those goods. You then sell the goods to replace the production cost(making you whole). But you also include a profit in the price(that's the increase).
  8. How is it an increase? It is replacing the time you lost. Not in an increase but compensation.
  9. Not really but I would like to hear real answers.
  10. Sorry to go off topic about insurance. But if a person goes to work for eight hours a day, five days a week. They are giving away their time and work. The company they work for then gives them money to replace that time and work that was given. So a person doesn't really get an increase. Their paycheck is making them whole. So does that mean you wouldn't pay tithing on your paycheck? I'm just curious what people's reasons are for paying tithing on their paycheck when it's not an increase. I can understand it being different for someone owning their own busines. Sorry for going off topic about insurance.
  11. I'm hoping that I'm much more open. It's good to know that I am coming across as such. When it started as an independence movement I was simply in charge of designing and maintaining the website. there were a few(3) others involved who started the independence movement. Since changing to a self sufficiency movement they have left. The website was in my name and I have the password so I retained control. I've tried to rebuild the organization into something that has a much better chance of working and helping people. Unfortunately my spelling hasn't improved. Hahaha. You mean the name deseretgov? Yes it's me. I am the one currently in charge of the organization. I asked my friend to help out. The problem is he doesn't get online much. We meet together in person whenever our schedules allow.
  12. In my research I have run into some alternative currencies that are tax exempt. The ones I encountered are time based. I'm assuming, based on my own research, and the type of currency I envision, that the Alternative currency would not be tax exempt. I would rather pay taxes on an alternative currency than hav ethe government come after me for not paying them. I'm sorry there is no one with formal training in these areas. But it would be great to have someone join who does. We are just in the start up phase so every bit of help is needed.
  13. Just finished and uploaded the DALO.pdf. It contains lessons on how to read, write, and type the Deseret Alphabet. Its available on the Deseret Alphabet page Nation of Deseret: Online Organization Interface.
  14. Do if you had de-hydrated water would that leave you with just oxygen. Maybe get two paintball CO2 tanks. Fill one with pure oxygen then other with pure hydrogen. Open them so they spray into each other and BINGO water. Ok I just made that up. Liquid is probably the most compact form you can carry water in.
  15. hahaha. Don't forget the Republic of Lakotah and the Republic of Texas.
  16. Alternatives currencies are very feasible. They are especially common during times of economic hardship. Many alternative currencies were used during the Great Depression. The most important aspect of alternative currencies is acceptance. The more people accept the currency the more use it will have. Here's a wikipedia article about alternative currencies: Link The US Dollar is still the national currency. Our currency will just be an alternative that is restricted to use within the Deseret region. Since the people who participate in the Nation of Deseret organization are still American citizens they must pay all taxes required by the government. And since the alternative currency will not be replacing the Dollar there will still be dollars to pay taxes with. But then you also have to factor in if banks will store the alternative currency. If so conversion between the alternative currency and dollars would be fairly simple. Probably. It will be up to the individual stores to accept the alternative currency or not. It would not a be a good busines decision for a busines to limit itself to accepting only the alternative currency. Especially this early in the development. The way I envision it is that the alternative currency will be more of a product. The alternative currency will be sold to registered members at a discount of say 5%. The currency would be redeemable at any accepting location at full value. So if a person has one of the alternative currency it could be used to buy one dollar's worth of good/services. But by purchasing it at a discount of 5% the registered member would only have to pay 95 cents for the one unit of alternmative currency. So in essence they would only be paying 95 cents for the one dollars worth of products. So who insures that the one unit of currency is worth one dollar? registered members would be required to accept the currency at full value in order to be a registered member. That's how some of the alternatove currencies that exist work. They don't have to do anything with us then. They can ignore our organization. Nobody is required to accept our currency. Nobody is required to learn and use the Deseret Alphabet. When our organization gets more momentum and makes more progress those who don't want anything to do with us may feel the benefit, but they still don't have to be involved.
  17. Thank you for looking. I hope you enjoyed it. No. Our Council of Fifty is named after the Council of Fifty organized by Joseph Smith. Joseph Smith was working to build a political Kingdom of God at one point. It was believed that thsi original Council of Fifty was to be a government under the rule of Christ before and during the Millenium. However, this Council fell into inactivity as the Saints moved west and the Utah became a state. But even in this Council of Fifty there were non LDS as part of the Council. It was also believed that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints would not be the only religion on Earth during the Millenium. All our Council has to do with the original, is the name. We are not a religious organization. The Council exists only to coordinate the various committees and departmenmts of the Nation of Deseret organization. One spot in the Council per committee. So yes, non LDS are allowed to serve on the Council. Anyone wishing to benefit from using the currency will be allowed to do so. The orginal Nauvoo Legion was a militia it was disbanded in the 1800s. Our modern organization uses the name and is a civilian organization dedicated to fulfilling three main purposes. These are: Service, Preparedness, and defense. The Nauvoo Legion is focused on providing service as a way to inprove communities. It is also going to help prepare people for disasters and emergencies, through training and classes. The Nauvoo Legion also is focused on learning and teaching self defense. Everybody should be able to defend themselves and their family if the need arises. Well the Nation of Deseret organization is not a religious organization so there really is not problem here. We may be promoting things that were promoted by the Early LDS church, such as the Deseret Alphabet. But non of these promoting a certain religion or trying to persuade people to become a certain religion. I hope I answered your questions. If you have any more feel free to ask. I'm more than happy to answer.
  18. I wonder where I can find my seer stone. I think he was refering to a different kind of...stones. Hahaha.
  19. I agree. It's like asking, is the internet good or bad?
  20. That's part of the discussion and planning that must be carried out. It's possible to make an entire ohuse self sufficient so making an entire region self sufficient is also within the realm of possiblity. You're more than welcome to start discussion on our forum about these topics. You can see it on the about page. It's the second map image.
  21. Not really, I just think that someday if there is a political Kingdom of God that those God's has ordained will be those that will lead that kingdom. Obviously God would not allow someone to lead His Kingdom who He has not called. Pam you concern would have been valid with the old organization however the new organization is not trying to establish our own government. We simply want to see the Deseret region become prosperous through self sufficiency. We don't want to take power from the lawfully elected of the Nataional, state, and local leaders. We also do not claim authority given to the leaders of God's church. Some of the things the Nation of Deseret organization does want is: Deseret region to provide it's own power. Local currency to improve local economies. Deseret region to provide it's own food, goods, and other services. Improved education within the Deseret region. Those are some of the things we are pushing for.
  22. I never said the leaders of Heavenly Father's church agree with me. What I did say is that I think someday there will be an political Kingdom of God and that those ordained by God will be the leaders of that organization. No justamere10 the Nation of Deseret has never met with nor has ever made a plan to meet with the General Authorities. The Nation of Desert used to be a independence movement, trying to form a sovereign nation. But it is not anymore. The Nation of Deseret was reorganized and is now an organization pushing for self sufficiency in the Deseret region. It is our goal to strengthen the local economy of the Deseret region to a point where if there are problems outside the Deseret region they wont affect us. That is the long term goal.
