  1. THE times, duh. jk
  2. I understand it to mean storms, tsunamis, earthquakes, seasons happening at strange times, etc.
  3. Yeah, I know, I know. I just saw an interesting connection there and thought I'd throw it in. Jupiter turned into a star in 2010 or whatever the sequel to 2001 is.
  4. It would be interesting to see a bit more evidence for this. There's lots of third/fourth/fifth hand stories going around out there. ESPECIALY from missionaries.
  5. So if/when humanity develops the technology to travel to other planets, we could short cut to the celestial kingdom by traveling to one that is already celestialized. Or if you don't think we will ever have the ability what if people from some planet out there travelled tried to take a short cut to the Celestial Kingdom by traveling to one that had already reached that level. But perhaps Celestialized planets cannot be reached, even with space warp. What are the qualities of being celestial? Well you have the glory of God. God is described as brighter than the noon day sun. Those who don't live a celestial life(or be translated) would burn up because of the sheer power. We also know the earth and wicked will burn. Know of anything else that burns things if they get to close? The sun perhaps? So A celestialized planet would have traits similar to the sun. Gives a new meaning to this quote from Brighman Young: Journal of Discourses, Volume 13 Could this also be why Joseph Smith described Kolob as both a Sun AND a planet?

  7. Yes in families with more than one wife there would be more children and thus a greater income need. However in families with more than one husband number of children would be restricted to the ammount the single wife could bear. Thus there would be a significantly smaller need for additional income in a family with more than one husband. So there wouldn't need to be more husbands to provide additionl income.
  8. I'd really be interested in that. That one little thought alone adds a whole new dimension to the events of the fall...well for me anyway. It's just makes perfect sense.
  9. That's something I never thought of before.
  10. I think this is very true and often overlooked.
  11. How do you explain this then? 2 Ne. 2: 22(emphasis added) 22 And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end.
  12. Why? Who says women aren't allowed to work too?
  13. I thought there wan't death before the fall.
  14. Seeing a bunch of men/women passionatly kissing other men/women gives me the Heebidiby Jeebies!
  15. If you have some please present it. My statements are based on my own opinions.
  16. I think that what we actually do determines our level of activity. But in strictly church attendance sense I use the following definitions: Active: Attends church as often as possible. Less Active: Attends church occasionally, off and on. Inactive: Holiday attendance, never attends.
  17. I find great truth in this statement. The Law of Concecration underwent a similar situtation. The Church wasn't ready for it. I think we are more similar to the Children of Isreal than we care to admit. EDIT: I voted yes by the way. I would be willing to live it but I don't know if my wife would.
  18. Well I don't know if Satan himself knows our desire, what we say, etc. but I'm sure those of his followers that are assigned to us do. I image Satan has one of the most advanced intelligence networks at his disposal. I think that Satan(refering to his organization not specifically Satan himself) can hear anything we say and see anything we do. There is no place Satan cannot go to "spy" on us. I don't believe he can read our thoughts, but he can plant some.
  19. The way i reason it out is that ofcourse God commanded them to multiply and replenish the earth becasue that was their purpose. But it could not be done in their current state. They had to have mortal imperfect bodies. But going from a perfect immortal physical body to a mortal imperfect one would have been punishment(aka a fallen state). So God could command them to eat the fruit or else He would essentially be punishing them for following His commandments. So God had to command them NOT to eat the fruit. But notice this line in the scripture below. Moses 3:17(emphasis added) 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it, nevertheless, thou mayest choose for thyself, for it is given unto thee; but, remember that I forbid it, for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. I don't know but to my imperfect mortal mind this almost seems like a little hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge, ya know ya know. It's probably not though. The very nature of the situation put God into a little bit of a corner so to speak. However if the scriptures said the God commanded Adam to eat fo the fruit then that would be a real contradition.
  20. This is interesting. I've been doing some armchiar research into Zelph and the connection with Native tribes. Pretty cool stuff.
  21. I don't have a problem with the "under age" women thing. It seems to be mainly something that stems from our upbringing and culture. For example in the middle ages most people only lived until about thirty-ish. Marriages between people were common around the age of sixteen or so. Not considering the pre arrainged marriages when people were infants. It's just because of our current culture/laws/upbrining that marrying people people age 14-17 seems wrong.
  22. I read an article the the Urim and Thummim wasn't actually a device but a action. So instead of being a noun Urim and Thummim becomes a verb. It was interesting to read but that was about it.
  23. Even if the former flame had died before they could be married?!
  24. Soon they will be selling LED and fiber optic "fireworks." Reusable and eco friendly! No fire hazard.
  25. I think you need to tak Obi-wan Kenobi's advice in Star Wars: "Let go, Luke." I'm not talking about letting go of your beliefs, but let go of your concern. Let go of your worries. What I'm getting from your posts is that you don't really have a problem with the church's doctrine, rather your confirmation of the truth. About enduring. I remember my mission president saying that we really need to replace the word enduring. We shouldn't have to "endure" to the end. Enduring sounds like we're constantly in pain and struggling. Actually having the gospel is a blessing not something that needs to be endured.
