Other Planets, Aliens, and can we inherit other worlds?
KristofferUmfrey replied to Elrond's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
That is no where in LDS scriptural cannon. -
That would be a translation... trans⋅la⋅tion /trænsˈleɪʃən, trænz-/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [trans-ley-shuhn, tranz-] Show IPA Pronunciation –noun 1. the rendering of something into another language or into one's own from another language. A commentary is something completely different... com⋅men⋅tar⋅y /ˈkɒmənˌtɛri/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [kom-uhn-ter-ee] Show IPA Pronunciation –noun, plural -tar⋅ies. 1. a series of comments, explanations, or annotations: a commentary on the Bible; news followed by a commentary. 2. an explanatory essay or treatise: a commentary on a play; Blackstone's commentaries on law. 3. anything serving to illustrate a point, prompt a realization, or exemplify, esp. in the case of something unfortunate: The dropout rate is a sad commentary on our school system.

Mental or Physical illness in the Millenium?
KristofferUmfrey replied to bytor2112's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Speaking of the Millennium the Lord tells Zechariah (14)... "16 And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. 17 And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. 18 And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. 19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles." So, yes, at least initially there were still be suffering in some form or another, until we come into complete obedience to the government Jesus will set up on the earth. -
Anybody else feel this way about Christmas?

Happy Hanukkah. -
You obviously haven't read the Book of Mormon if you assume it's a book of Biblical commentary.
-
Yes, you are correct... I don't care. I know that God appeared to Him, which account is right and which is embellished for the audience he was directing it to doesn't make me lose any sleep.
-
It's the same explanation.
-
You apparently missed my explanation... The Book of Mormon teaches that those who are without the Law (too young, mentally handicapped, never heard it) are not accountable to the Law. The thief accepted Christ as he was dying on his own cross, he accepted what he knew at THAT moment and was faithful to the Law he had, thus he was worthy to enter Paradise, and will obtain a resurrection of salvation. Charles Manson. Because if anybody needs the saving power of Jesus in his life, it's Chuck.

I'm not "advocating a Christmas event", just giving my two cents about what going to happen anyways. I'm not a complete humbug..... WelcomeHome

That's why God appeared to Joseph. Whether it was just the Savior or both, I'm still right. WelcomeHome

Well, it is the same name with the same picture, and it will have the same link under the post, so you decide. :) WelcomeHome

Be content in your pagan practices and justify them however you want. I've done my part in the topic and sounded the voice of wise counsel. God Bless. -
Leave it! It sounds exactly like what a little kid would say. Heck, I'm sure some adults have thought the same thing at church a time or two. WelcomeHome

I'm baffled at how people are so casual about God's commands. -

Israel tried to do that and they were vomited out of land of Israel. The Lord is serious about His injunction against paganism. Even the early Church brought their pagan books together and burned them. -

The Lord commands us not to mix the heathen forms of worship from the cultures around us, with our worship of Him. -
You guys need to get on the same page. Aesa is talking about His ascension into heaven at the beginning of Acts. WelcomeHome

Just because Jesus may have been friendly with pagans doesn't mean he approved of their lifestyle or festivals. He was nice to whores and thieves... does that mean a woman can justify prostitution because Jesus didn't cast out the prostitutes or thieves can continue to steal because He had meals with them?? -

The Plain Truth About EASTER "Dyed Eggs But did you know that dyed Easter eggs also figured in the ancient Babylonian mystery rites, just as they do in Easter observance today? Yes, these are pagan, too. It is recorded in Edward Davies' "The Mythology and Rites of the British Druids," page 210, that the ancient Druids bore an egg as the sacred emblem of their idolatrous order. Eggs were sacred to many ancient civilizations and formed an integral part of the religious ceremonies in Egypt and in the Orient. According to James Bonwick: "Eggs were hung up in the Egyptian temples. Bunsen calls attention to the mundane egg, the emblem of generative life, proceeding from the mouth of the great god of Egypt. The mystic egg of Babylon, hatching the Venus Ishtar, fell from heaven to the Euphrates. Dyed eggs were sacred Easter offerings in Egypt, as they are still in China and Europe. Easter, or spring, was the season of birth, terrestrial and celestial" (Egyptian Belief and Modern Thought, pp. 211-212). Why do people who believe themselves to be Christians dye eggs at Easter? Do they suppose the Bible ordained, or commands, this heathen custom? There is not a word of it in the New Testament. Certainly Christ did not start it, and the apostles and early Christians did none of it! Then why should you do it today? Why follow heathenism and try to convince yourself you are a Christian? God calls such things abomination!" -
