As a missionary in my last area, there was this obnoxious little kid that was allowed to run amok during sacrament meeting. One Sunday while I was giving my testimony, he was up on the podium making faces at the Ward, and the parents and grandparents did nothing. When I was done, I picked him up, flung him over my shoulder walked to the back and handed him to his Dad. They got the point. From then on whenever the kid saw me his face would crinkle up and he's do the little kid arm swing thing towards me, but he knew where he stood. If you know the family well enough, calmly walk over, look the father in the eye, pick the kids up and take them out. Someone has to parent the kids at some point.

Does God punish people on Earth?
KristofferUmfrey replied to jessse's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
People receive the natural consequences of their (and others) acts while on the earth. -
I would like to apologize for my impatience and sometimes contentious posts. I get frustrated at times because I feel the Lord leading me to the work I've begun to engage in but I have no idea why. I'm not worthy, like Paul I'm the chiefest of sinners, but unlike Paul I'm not saying that to be humble, but because I really am. Like Alma and the Sons of Mosiah I am the vilest of sinners. I ask the Lord "why?" and doubt but am continually drawn back to the work. Like Amulek, I have often been called but not taken up my calling and now I am trying to be obedient to that calling, in spite of myself. I don't know where exactly the Lord will lead me or how to start, so my frustration at myself and my feelings of inadequacy sometimes cause me to be harsh in my writing. The Lord has shown me I need to humble myself and humbly share what He has taught me through the scriptures instead of contentiously using my own words. So again I apologize, and beg your indulgence as I work through my trials and seek further direction from the Lord. If at all possible I would like my nickname changed from "KristofferUmfrey" to "PlainSaint" God Bless.

The Judgment of the 12 Disciples of The Lamb?
KristofferUmfrey replied to Mudcat's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I see this verse as having more to do with the Kingdom of God. "Heaven" is a kingdom, and I believe organized like a kingdom, with kings, priests, lords, etc... judging (ruling) over their given area (city, country, etc...) of responsibility. The NT seems to bear this out. I'll find the verses this PM unless someone beats me to it. -
I would have used the Magen David myself... but that wasn't the question was it? I have no clue what it was supposed to mean, but it cracks me up that they sell (or at least sold) necklaces with the symbol on it and Mormons wore them as a reminder of there trip to the Nauvoo Temle. Imagine trying to explain THAT to your Protestant friends.

If he was shaking up with some babe, would you turn down an invitation to go out with them somewhere? You should treat this situation the same way. You can show respect and do things with them without approving of what they are doing.

Sure... Lion of God - David Bruce Clark You are welcome -
Black, grey, brown, that toned down green color... there all good. White shirt and tie... requirement Like one other writer said I wasn't required to wear the suit jacket. In my 3rd area one of the sisters made me a nice purple homemade cardigan sweater, I loved it and wore it my whole mission.

Daniel: Eunuchs and Homosexuality?
KristofferUmfrey replied to KristofferUmfrey's topic in General Discussion
Calm down big guy. I don't know if this rage is directed at me, but with those big muscles I want to be safe. I said nothing of David and Jonathan but since it was brought up, I looked in Strong's and 2 Samuel 2:26 has a root listing and it is regular old love meaning "affection". I was just intrigued that there was no root attached to the Daniel verse and just wondering if there are some theologians out there that might know the status of eunuchs within ancient Judaic law. -
Anyone who has read my posts will know that by no means do I support homosexual behavior. So bear that in mind as I offer the following for discussion... A while back a radio preacher was talking on the story of Daniel in Daniel 1 where Daniel and his friends refused the food of the king. As the preacher read the following verse I was intrigued by a couple words in the passage... "9 Now God had brought Daniel into favor, and tender love with the prince of the Eunuchs." For some reason that verse struck me, so I went to my Strong's concordance to see which Hebrew word for "love" was used in the verse and was surprised to find the verse is shown but no number corresponding to a Hebrew root. Is it possible the root word show something more then brotherly love between the two and the Christian compilers of Strong's don't want to show it? Is it possible that because Daniel was a Eunuch and essentially a non-sexual person that a more intimate relationship with the Prince was and acceptable practice? Yes I do realize that other words in Strong's have no corresponding root but maybe someone more knowledgeable is the source language and text could give me some insight?

Margin of Error & Funky Town- If either of your responses was directed towards my post I apologize that you will not receive an witty reply in response since you along with Wingnut and Elphaba are on my ignore list to reduce my chances of replying in such a manner as to merit more rebukes from moderators who already have no desire to see my posts. If you don't like my posts, I suggest you do the same and place me on your ignore list. It really is a great little feature.

The translation of the Book of Mormon was given by God through the Urim & Thummim, so Joseph and Oliver may have used some hillbilly writing when writing it down initially but the writing was not their opinion of what the text said.

As long as the child is in no immediate danger the parent should be able to instruct the child as he/she sees fit during visitation. The child, when of age, can decide which path to follow (or none of them). This type of divorce degree is is essence making a law establishing one religion over another which is not permissible under US Constitutional law.

Where do you get "the end of the world" from anyways? What do you mean by the phrase? The Bible teaches the earth will be renewed and be inhabited throughout all eternity.

A war consists of small battles, and even the best army doesn't win every battle. Never give up, don't get down, hold you head up, and train (scripture study and prayer) for the next battle ahead. I'm rooting for you.

Actually Joseph was not a Seer as the angel had taken the Urim & Thummim and he gave the Seer Stone away saying he didn't need it anymore. There has not been a Seer since that day. Prophets and Revelators, yes, a Seer, no. Where does Bro. Kris come up with this crazy stuff?... "72 Now Ammon saith unto him, I can assuredly tell thee, O king, of a man that can translate the records: for he hath wherewith that he can look, and translate all records that are of ancient date: and it is a gift from God. 73 And the things are called interpreters; and no man can look in them, except he be commanded, lest he should look for that he had not ought, and he should perish. 74 And whosoever is commanded to look in them, the same is called seer." [Mosiah 5 (1990 Temple Lot Edition)]
