  4. Found some MRE's!
  5. Doing a deep dive right now and no success of finding surplus MRE's yet. Good idea though! In the meantime I am seeing lot of freeze dried meals that at least on picture looks delicious. Will try to sniff out what their shelf life is. This here is potentially best find so far...
  6. No food in the bug out bags of yet, but am working on making everyone 3 little "MRE" bags each to last 3 days just in case. The feast of perishables Not a bad idea actually! Adding some food to make some shareable meals makes good sense. Have to make use of that Trangia in there for something!
  7. Thanks! Glad to be back, and to see the forum is still going strong.
  8. There is a community made for it on Discord called: Have been in it for a long while without engaging in it, simply due to life being busy. Will say though that the community seems to have come to a still for the most part, but there are resources to find and perhaps some users willing to learn with anyone who seriously wants to learn too. In the meantime here are some resources that might be of interest(Credit to the owner of that server for gathering them): BOM, Deseret Alphabet Phonetify (An add-on for chrome that will translate all English text to a Phonetic Alphabet of choice, which includes Deseret!) Dechifro (Turns any web pages into Deseret and translates from English to Deseret) Deseret Keyboard Deseret Keyboard Online Keyboard for Mac OS and Windows Deseret Keyboard for Linux Books in the Deseret Alphabet Deseret Comics A Complete Guide to Reading and Writing the Deseret Alphabet
  9. My final idea to share for tonight.. I have started collecting these instant hot chocolate bottles now and again. Want to reach 12 bottles eventually. They can contain 400 grams in total and I want to fill them with dried green lentils (already have red lentils on store). Meaning there will be one to pull from storage each month to cook with. First time around I purchased glasses for the red lentils, but this here is far more economic. Not only are the containers less pricy, but you get some instant cocoa too! It's a win-win for me.
  10. Another idea I started in 2024! Rolled oats. Wanted to try mylar bags out for this. The idea was getting the oatmeal, plenty of cinnamon and also sugar on stock. The sugar and cinnamon being shaken together, it could be easy topping for warm oatmeal porridge. It might not be the most healthy thing, but one of the more easy, filling and affordable things to store in the long term I could think of. Took me ages to collect these buggers as I was waiting for them to be on offer (Solgryn is the superior oatmeal and I will fight anyone who questions it!). Inexpensive oatmeal should be perfectly fine and easy to find most places though. Dropped 2 oxygen absorbers into each of 6 big mylar bags, filled them with the oatmeal and then sealed it shut with a flat iron. It ended up with 6 big mylar bags with 3 x 700 grams of oatmeal in each packet. Meaning you can grab one to last two months time for a years worth of food storage. Will need a better place to put them, but they're the silver bags above. Mylar bags do cost some, but it was the best I could think of for the oatmeal here. With the cinnamon and sugar, it is a pretty cheap meal to have for long term storage.
  11. So in trying to be creatively frugal with my storage, I was just thinking someone else might like to see simple inexpensive ideas to do prepping. I am no expert by any means, so thoughts/ideas being shared is super welcome! My first idea to share is storing rice for porridges. I purchased 1-4 bottles of 2 liter sparkling water bottles each time I went by the shop, then used and cleaned them to be used. Also began purchasing 1-2 bags of porridge rice each time until I had enough to fill them with. I folded the oxygen absorbers to drop into the bottom of the bottles. Then using a simple piece of paper and some tape made something to funnel the porridge rice into the bottles with. Then filled each one of them up! It is a good idea to shake them a bit for the rice to settle down into the flask, and then to top it off properly. I could have done a better job of it. TThat was That was as much as I could do for one round back then, but I managed to fill them all within 2024. I now have 12 of these, so one for each month for a full year. As you can see the ones that were filled better, the oxygen absorbers sucked the bottle in. Read another tip of using cling film around each bottle to further isolate them. I am not sure if it does much, but I did it since I figure it wouldn't hurt! For 2025 I am collecting another twelve bottles for parboiled rice, this time in a blue color, just for the sake of color coordinating. It's super easy to store like that! And even if it felt like I was getting little traction by purchasing small amounts each time, then when it all is finally done, it feels rewarding. Doing a little bit by bit really grows faster than you expect it to.
  12. I am working on a family bug out box. The idea is to have two to be used as sort of "communal" family gear boxes, in case of everyone camping somewhere together to cover everyone on the extras outside of everyone having their own personal bug out bags. It's a slow project as I am not rolling in money, but the below is what I have so far! What I am fishing for here is some of everyone's wisdom in what things might be good to add. Was thinking, considering I live in the Scandinavia(Denmark), some hot water bottles would be a good idea to have too. I do have a Trangia to add to the box, but have yet to dig it out from storage. Below is what is in it so far:
  13. You probably don't need the advice now, but I just felt like giving my two cents. Everyone comes with some issues. It would be strange if we did not. We're here to be tested after all! This lady will have her own set of things she brings to the table. I think what is most important when looking for a partner, it is the ability to look at another being through spiritual eyes. Your worth is not what monetary gains you are able to scrape together through this life. It is important to do our best, but beyond that we need to have faith in the Lord that he will provide and make doors open according to our needs, as our life expands/continues to change. However it isn't just perceiving a potential spouse through spiritual eyes, but also how we perceive ourselves. It sounds to me that you are viewing yourself through the lens of the world if you will, and am being rather hard on yourself. I don't know you as a person, but by what you have written above, you are demonstrating positive traits in your spirit: An ability to look inward and reflect over your past actions/situation, and likely learning from them/it. An ability to consider how you might effect someone else's life, and the compassion to consider stepping back for what you consider better for them(whether right or wrong), at the cost of your own well being if needed. All qualities of great worth in a partner. As was said earlier - you too deserve to be loved! And you are the spiritual companion someone else needs. If not this lady, then someone else. Don't listen to the voice that diminishes your spiritual worth. Our spirit is all we leave this world with, and the ties we have made going through it. Your health and monetary situation is temporary, and serves you and your situation for whichever reason God has for it. You are also not alone. There are so many above the age of 30 that are single, afraid to get into the game and walk around thinking they have either lost their window and worth because of it. And that simply is not true. I hope your first meeting was a success!
