ok, so this past sunday, they were passed out to all, and we were asked to contribute 2-3 dollars on the "other" line with our tithes and offerrings. i felt much better about it, as it didn't feel like we were being charged for it, which is how it came across the first time it was brought up.of course, i will contribute, as that was not my objection...just the way it was pronounced from the pulpit.

Introducing The Baptist Mormon Preacher
miztrniceguy replied to dr.lynn's topic in Introduce Yourself
Dr. Lynn, my wife asks if you consider yourself a Trinitarian? -
OK, i am actually curious about that one. What about when he's visiting other countries? Can he attend a Temple there? Can he be a visitor in a ward? i'm curious about this, too...

but do you think that it is possible that a bishop may discern incorrectly?...and i don't mean this to be disrespectful, nor to imply i wish to deceive my bishop.
-
before the question is even asked....you know if they are a full tithe payer or not....and the person knows that you know . how would you know if you were not privy to their full financial statements? is this something you can discern? having never been a bishop, nor ever planning to be, i would not now if HF "tells" you.

please understand it is not about the 2 dollars, as i can certainly afford it. i have just never heard of this practice in the 8 yrs i have been active as an adult. and i have been in at least 10 wards during that time.

Thoughts on the new book, Teachings of The Prophet Joseph Smith. to be used in Priesthood and RS for the next TWO years, and donations requested as they are NOT free? Are other wards requesting donation?

Freefoodstorage.com- Anyone Heard Of It?
miztrniceguy replied to jillybeangirly's topic in LDS Web Links
i generally believe in the "store what you eat system". therefore, we have t freezers we stock up meat in. we usually buy half a cow at a time. last may we did that. no roasts, had all of it cut into steak or hamburger, and 2 briskets. sadly, a recent storm caused a power surge, tripping a breaker for the other freezer. sisnt find out untill freezer was completely defrosted. lost 15 roasts(from prior cow) a 20 lb turkey, a full ham, several trays of chicken, 10 lbs of boneless chicken breasts, and more. plus fried a router, a vcr, and a cordless phone. then today, i moved our refer and as i unplugged it, discovered cord was completelty fried, dont know how it was even supplying power. lucky i wasnt electrocuted. cord broke into seveal pieces while i was looking at it. not sure what we will lose from this, but hey, at least our house didnt burn down -
No - but if you planning on receiving the communion somewhere, you may need to repent afterwards. That's a joke. Here's my take: We call it the sacrament. One should take the sacrament when one is worthy to do so. Obviously none of us is 100% worthy so the question is HOW worthy does one need to be? If you have committed some grevious sin - I dunno, like adultery, armed robbery, listening to Britney Spears music or killing a goat with your bare hands, maybe you should talk to the bishop. Otherwise, I think it is a matter of humility... are you seeking to get on the path towards greater spirituality, ie repenting, moving in the right direction? Only you can decide... but a good bishops often gives wise counsel. I guess if you have done something atrocious, there's the possibility that the bishop might take formal action - like put you on double-secret probation or something. Only you can decide. so killing a goat with a tuba needent be repented?

177th Semiannual General Conference
miztrniceguy replied to StrawberryFields's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
How original. Perhaps, but I'm new here and that's something I wanted to know. Should I take your answer as a "yes" or a "no"? I usually reply to that question with my own: "Why is it when someone joins the church, they can't leave the rest of us alone?" Are you saying that you wish to be left alone? if he really wanted to be left alone he wouldn't be here -

wyoming....netherlands...outer darkness..all the same place? -
now this makes no sense to me....first line says you have a policy question, and not interested in opinions. at the end you ask "thoughts"? If what you want is policy, then you want a quote from the Church Handbook or some other such document. Asking for thoughts is to ask an opinion, not ask for facts. oh, and congrats to you!!!!

i hope nobody decides that this thread is an attack againt people with marble countertops by those with granite countertops, forcing someone else to provide the wikipedia definition of marble and countertops, followed by various assertions as to why it shouldn't be used, and there should be a dog barking at clouds on a green hill that isnt far enough away to be a forever family that cant we all get along and love one another and the apple on mars drinks wilk through its noseon saturdays at noon while sleeping.

i had several different jobs during my high school years...restaurant, fast food, paper delivery. After high school continued fast food for awhile, eventually leading to my first management position...shift manager at McD's. Next was the car wash business for a few years. first writing sales tickets as people drove up, selling extra services. After 1 month i was asst mgr, and 4 months was manager. Eventually returned to the Palm Springs area, where i had gone to high school. There i started in the convenience store business as a clerk in a Mobil station. after a month i was doing asst mgr job without title or pay. Left to try out the hotel industry, for a few months, then went back to c-store with a different company. Promoted to asst manager in 3 months, then started manager training program a month later. I spent about 20 years in the c-store business, managing stores for big companies and small companies. I was very good at it, and my specielty was taking over problem stores with slow sales and high theft(mostly employee). I year and a half ago i decided that with a wife and 2 kids, working 80 weeks, no days off, phone calls contantly wasn't worth the pay anymore. i needed something different. I now work as a customer service/sales in a call center for a Fortune 5 company. The pay is good, the benefits are awesome, and i am never called when i am not working. Today I found out i was top salesperson for my team last quarter. I just changed teams, and now work four 10 hour days. Although what i currently do is call center work, i do hope to move to other areas of the company. I wish we had a fraud dept here in MO, but we dont. I hope to move into another area of financial services when the time is right.
