  1. for most of my working life, 25+ yrs, i have been against income tax and for consumption tax. tax everything at 10%, exempt food staples (not twinkies and evian) and college tuition. you are not penalized for savings or investing. if you are thrifty and save then you don't pay. when you buy a big fancy house car or boat you pay 10%. no tax breaks, irs salaries spent on better things.
  2. my wife has an ebookwise reader and is looking for scriptures for it. any suggestions?
  3. ask her if she made a mistake, because you thought it was to be a different amount. next time count it in front of her. if you don't want to appear distrusting, do it as you make sure all the bills are the same way.
  4. i dont know if i will ever get rid of the land line. sound quality is usually better than a cell. i have a package deal for digital cable, long distance and roadrunner. and a family plan for 2 cell phones and home phone service thru at&t.
  5. at the time you were given the 120 i would have mentioned you thought they had said 135, but by accepting the 120 it might look like that is the agreed upon price, unless something was said about paying you the rest later. did you count it in front of her?
  6. did it occur to you it may be a friend or relative?
  7. i know how to slow global warming! make the vegetarians stop eating all the plants that convert carbon dioxide into oxygen, and instead eat more methane producing cows! i'm doing my fart...er, part!
  8. " Anyway, Im not really willing to follow the counsel." that sums it up right there.
  9. so sad! i can't say anything else
  10. lol...sure it wasn't on purpose? maybe he knew you were looking! just kidding, of course. as to something you don't want to share with mean, start a new thread in this forum and title it "women only, please". might be something to keep men out by the title, but then you never know.
  11. altho this thread is in the relief society forum group it shows under new posts to everyone. when i read thread titles under new posts, if the title interest me i read the thread without paying attention to what forum it is under. modest clothing is NOT a women only issue. men should be concerned about their own modest clothing, too. also, as i previously posted, i have a daughter who just turned 5 yesterday. i am very frustrated by lack of modest clothing for a 5 yr old girl. the pants they are making for them are the lowrider style that teen girls like. how would this not be a legitemate concern to me?
  12. i say send the nuclear waste on a rocket ship to the sun!
  13. i don't think it affects you one bit if you aren't drinking it or telling someone they should drink it. i was a c-store manager for over 20 years. didn't keep me from geting a temple rec or getting married in the temple.
  14. i was very happy when my daughter was telling me about the pledge in school last week. she is 5 and in pre-k summer school. we were talking about the words, which i had to think about since it had been so long, and she said "what about 'under God'?. dont forget that!
  15. i've heard it called "Cry and Tell a Story Meeting"
  16. i was unemployed when my mother died. i had just made 2 trips to see her. the bishop gave me gas money so i could make another trip for her funeral.
  17. and i figured benji would marry the gal he was partnered with on the show....they seemed to be all heated up over each other...but then, you can't beleive everything you see on tv.
  18. i love the show....my wife quit watching last season, as it became apparant they had favs and put thru who they wanted. we began to distrust the voting "results".
  19. all of this is a personal choice. it is up to you what you pay tithing on to consider yourself a full tithe payer. to me, the gift part is more hazy, but i do not consider welfare, unemployment, or other financial aid programs a gift. just my opinion, nothing else.
  20. Amen Brother! Before I met my wife i cannot tell you how many times i was asked" are you an RM?" Sometimes before anything else. Their loss, but did get frustating after awhile. I stopped going to church while in high school, about age 16 and didn't return until I was 34. Made for a lot of difficulty dating, especially with th "RM requirement". As if being an RM meant you would never fall away or sin! HA! That's such a lousy expectation. I finally met someone who loves me in spite of(or because of) my past. We've been married almost 6 yrs now.
  21. ive heard of kirby puckett and kirby vacuums
  22. i disagree....a gift is still an increase, as is welfare, unemployment checks etc..
  23. kirby who?
  24. my wife does medical transcription from home as her main source of income. also does charting for counted cross-stitching. she made her own website for it. also starting a foray into self-publishing, as she is a writer, and has not yet had a book published.
