  1. Fullness. Of. Joy. Ponder what that means. D&C 101:36 Wherefore, fear not even unto death; for in this world your joy is not full, but in me your joy is full.
  2. This dispensation started with God appearing to a young man in a grove of trees. I'd say that miracle is pretty convincing of God's reality...
  3. I tend to see this case the same way TFP does. The Savior even mentioned that His time had not yet come. It might explain the somewhat out of place nature of this particular miracle. But, the truth is that many of His miracles were such that they accomplished a need at the time. He served others with love and even tended to their temporal needs at times.
  4. Marriage is one the most important decisions in life to make. Marriage will either lead to some of the greatest moments of joy or some of the sharpest pains of heartache you will experience. There are ALWAYS unforseen occurrences that come about, no matter how thoroughly you plan your life. Differences of how you each deal with stress, how to spend finances when there isn't enough to pay all the bills, how you each deal with loss of family, possessions, and careers, and then deciding what moral decisions to make when faced with a myriad of choices all play into this decision of marital bliss/frustration. Please, make the decision prayerfully and with full intent to follow through with whatever the Lord answers.
  5. 2 Nephi 29:3 And because my words shall hiss forth—many of the Gentiles shall say: A Bible! A Bible! We have got a Bible, and there cannot be any more Bible. ..... 8 Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? ..... ..... 9 And I do this that I may prove unto many that I am the same yesterday, today, and forever; and that I speak forth my words according to mine own pleasure. And because that I have spoken one word ye need not suppose that I cannot speak another; for my work is not yet finished; neither shall it be until the end of man, neither from that time henceforth and forever.
  6. Depending on how rare of a steak you go, this post gives new meaning to desiring an 8 cow woman...
  7. True. http://www.foxnews.com/real-estate/2018/04/19/condemned-california-home-with-holes-in-roof-mildew-sells-for-1-23-million.html https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-million-dollar-condemned-house-20180418-story.html%3foutputType=amp Not to mention that many of the supposedly large tax revenues are being earned due to massive inflation rates.
  8. Agreed. That's why I stated the above quote. And the truth is, for every "keep the Sabbath day holy," there are going to be stories of needing to get the ox out of the mire, Nephi killing Laban at the Spirit's command, etc. And as such, we can see why we need the Spirit in our lives to guide us.
  9. Of course. That's not even the point I was making. I specifically mentioned anecdotal tales of miracles that occurred due to disobedience.
  10. Absolutely agree. The Lord is capable of doing His own work. I also believe that blessings are missed due to disobedience. Fortunately, the Atonement of Jesus Christ is there for us.
  11. I see where you are coming from, but... The member from the Elder's quorum that should have accompanied them missed out on faith promoting experiences that would have brought him closer to Jesus Christ because two missionaries would break a rule to teach a lone woman. Helped her? Maybe. Helped him, too? Nope. The fact is that missionaries are called to bring souls to Jesus Christ. Compromising the rules, unless absolutely directed to do so by the Spirit, is less effective in accomplishing that goal 100% of the time. Anecdotal tales of miracles performed through the breaking of rules leads me to believe that: 1. Someone else probably missed out on the blessings they could have received. 2. The story has become so stretched that the missionary himself probably doesn't remember the truth anymore.
  12. Pics or it didn't happen...?
  13. {Nevermind, it's not worth it...} Good luck with that!
  14. So, just to be clear, a man who served as the president of BYU, served as a supreme court judge, and has been an apostle of the Lord for almost 34 years, a man who the church (and you) sustain as a prophet, seer, and revelator, is wrong about the true nature of what happens after this life is over??? And you intend for others to believe your personal understanding of the scriptures is more correct than his understanding? Good luck with that...
  15. Elder Dallin H. Oaks seems to disagree with several points you have made in various threads. Is he wrong?
  16. He told you exactly what you have taught that is false. What you gave was an obvious attempt at misdirection.
  17. If a member of the stake presidency was in attendance at your meeting, wouldn't this mean that he presided while you conducted?
  18. Rob, are you really proposing that we reject the words of the current prophets and apostles in favor of what mainstream Christianity accepts? Are you really proposing that our modern apostles don't have as deep an understanding of the truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as you?
  19. Nope, you didn't. You couldn't provide one single scripture to say there cannot be more than one definition of damnation. The words of modern prophets refute it. The source of the words is God.
  20. And the idea has run its course as you are unable to produce a single scripture or LDS teaching that states that damnation cannot have more than one definition. LDS doctrine has been clearly shown by several in this thread (and a post by Gramps) that damnation, according to modern prophets and apostles, can also be defined as being stopped in one's progression. As LDS doctrine is not limited to the standard works, indeed we have continuing revelation through modern prophets, your attempts to limit the sources for obtaining a definition has been successfully thwarted. As the burden of proof proof rests with you, and you are unable to so prove, I readily accept your concession.
  21. Not a single one of the scriptures you quoted states that "damnation" can only have one meaning. Fortunately for us, we are not limited to the words of dead prophets in order to learn the gospel. President Ezra Taft Benson: "Beware of those who would set up the dead prophets against the living prophets, for the living prophets always take precedence."
  22. Just a couple of references that show that damnation is having one's progress limited is a LDS teaching: From the Bible dictionary: Damnation As used in the KJV this word has a wider meaning than is at once apparent from modern usage. Damnation is the opposite of salvation and exists in varying degrees. All who do not obtain the fulness of celestial exaltation will to some degree be limited in their progress and privileges and hence be damned to that extent. From the Guide to the Scriptures: Damnation The state of being stopped in one’s progress and denied access to the presence of God and His glory. Damnation exists in varying degrees. All who do not obtain the fulness of celestial exaltation will to some degree be limited in their progress and privileges, and they will be damned to that extent. And then there is the excellent answer from Gramps: https://askgramps.org/what-does-it-mean-to-be-damned-as-mentioned-in-mark-1616/
  23. For what reason should anyone do so? The burden of proof is upon YOU to provide scriptural references that states that your definition of damnation has one and only interpretation as this clearly deviates from standard LDS teachings. Everyone here agrees that one definition of damnation is being damned to hell. Nobody has disputed that as far as I have seen. Modern prophets have clearly taught that damnation also means being stopped in one's progress. This is indisputably a LDS teaching. As you are the one deviating from the standard LDS teachings, please provide proof that damnation does not have more than one meaning.
