Potential Spouse Disfellowshipped

You haven't shared, and shouldn't share....but what happens will probably depend on what has already happened. I noticed in your original post that you mentioned you broke the law of chastity, but the result will probably be different if it was intercourse than if it was something else. Hang in there. -RM -
Ok, that is twice that has been recommended....it that a western thing or can you get it back east here in the hinterlands? -RM

I don't fear. After all, "the only thing we have to fear, is fear itself." -RM -

No worries Spartan....and dang you were quick on the response today! Hope you have a great holiday! -RM -
Skippy, You might find the praxis model of difficult communication beneficial. Start by asking the scout privaltely... "What do you think about this baby?" "Why do you think that?" "What causes you to believe that?" "Here is what I think" "THis is why I think that" "What do you think now?" I've found it useful in similar circumstances. -RM

Potential Spouse Disfellowshipped

Thanks Spartan. I wasn't replying directly to the OP, but reather to MormonFlip. That statement simply isn't true. I think anyone looking at the general population realizes that there are numerous couples out there that are not obedient to gospel standards and YET are very happy. Similarly looking at individuals on this board, obedience to the same commandments doesn't neccesarily equate to maritial bliss. The general statement is flawed. I agree that the OP's specific situation is problematic. -RM -

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. There are many individuals whose relationships do not follow gospel principles that not only remain together or married, but happily so. -RM -
President Monson...Our Generation...October 2011

Yes, but if you believe in a judgement at all then we must all be ready to meet our God, as were our grandparents and great grandparents and our children's children children. -RM -
Jane, Do you know what his triggers are? Does he? How did you find out about him viewing porn? I think that those are important questions. If he doesn't yet know what causes him to look or want to look it will be very difficult for him to curb the behavior. If you know what triggers his behavior, AND you want to help him, then you can also be on alert for those triggers and help to redirect him. I think it is a good sign that he is willing to be open and honest with you. That is a positive. If he came and told you originally, then that should also be seen as a positive. The fact that he attends his meetings can be seen in one of two ways, either he wants to overcome this, OR he loves you enough to put in the effort to try to overcome it, or both. Let me ask another question, a bit outside of the church context for a moment. What do YOU think about his viewing of pornography. Forget for a moment what the church teaches about it, or what you thnk you are supposed to say. How does it make YOU feel. What bothers you about it? Have you shared that with your husband as well, not in anger, or in pain, but just open conversation? It sounds like he is open to talking to you. -RM

I like that one. -RM

At Jerome1232's suggestion, I thought we'd start another thread on tattoos. If you were going to get one and wanted it to relate to the church what would you get? A beehive? A portrait of President Hinckley? -RM

I bet J. Golden would give it a laugh though. -RM

The issue of Beard vs Non-Beard is crucial for both temporal and spiritual salvation...lol! <sarcasm off> I find it interesting to see what about the church interests others. -RM

Good point traveler. I've always wondered how long it took Noah to get two of all the 116,500 known species of snails together for the trip on the ark, and how he got to the arctic for the polar bears, or the amazon for the anacondas. I've wondered how we found them all, when with 7 billion people on the planet we are still discovering new species every day. :-) -RM

I hadn't thought about it quite those same terms before Gopecon, but those are some excellent points, and I think a very good parallel. -RM
