I would highly recommend the book "and they were not ashamed" especially if the two or you can read it together. -RM -

President Monson one of the 10 most admired men in the world
RMGuy replied to JudoMinja's topic in Church News and Events
Good information LW Here is another link to a non-church sire. Obama, Clinton top most-admired lists for 2011 ? USATODAY.com Remember that this is a USAToday poll, so not exactly scientific or objective, and only representative of the US for the most part...at best. Still, congratulations to President Monson for making it in at #10. He has been moving up :-) -RM -
I'm sure if you asked the missionaries to walk through the discussions with you they would be happy to oblige. -RM

Wrong thread Bini.....I think you are looking for the tithing thread....maybe you should talk to Dravin's Tithing Collector. -RM

I never question my leaders inspiration Dravin. :-) -RM

One more thought. You state in your first post that your income is $700 and that you paid $40. I'll refer back to my previous post: You could define income as gross pay (in which case to be a full-tithe payer $70 is required) You could define income as net pay-after tax etc (in which case if you grossed $700 then your 10% tithing would be somewhat less than $70) You could define income as a business does revenue-expenses=income (in which case if you grossed $700 than 10% tithing could be consideratbly less than $70). Doctrine and Covenante 119 is a section you might want to take a look at. Here is the statement from the 1st Presidency: "For your guidance in this matter, please be advised that we have uniformly replied that the simplest statement we know of is that statement of the Lord himself that the members of the Church should pay one-tenth of all their interest annually, which is understood to mean income. No one is justified in making any other statement than this. We feel that every member of the Church should be entitled to make his own decision as to what he thinks he owes the Lord, and to make payment accordingly." -RM

Very nice work. -RM

I'll bite...... So some picked their selections based on popularity some determined the best people based on if they thought they would do a good job Others just played along for fun. How many sought the Lord in prayer. -RM

Should i put filter on husbands work computer?
RMGuy replied to teshadawn's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
I'll speak to your direct question, and not to the problem with which you are struggling (I'll leave that up to your ecclesiastical leaders). If he is self employed (you have joing ownership of the business) and has expensed the work laptop you could place a filter on the laptop. If he expensed the laptop to an external employer, you probably shouldn't install any software on the machine. It is a work machine, and as a non-employee you shouldn't really be modifying company property. However, if the latter is true, depending on work policies he could find himself in a job jeopardy situation if they discover porn on that machine. -RM -
The direction that we have had is that tithing is 10% of your increase as stated above. The church has given no other guidance than that. You will find some members pay on their gross earnings, some on their net (the money left in their check after taxes and deductions). I have even had some individuals that define increase as what they are left with after expenses (rent, groceries, etc.). The question that is asked for tithing settlement and temple recommend interviews is "are you a full tithe payer." You need to be comfortable with your answer between you and the Lord. Some only feel ok answering yes if they pay on their gross, some are comfortable answering yes paying on net, and some are ok answering based on some other definition or criteria. Since you seem to be asking for advice, here is mine.....consider what the commandment to tithe means to you pretty rose, ponder it out for yourself and then ask the Lord in prayer. If you are comfortable with it then no one should try to make you feel guilty for how you move forward.....it you feel guilty from within and without external pressure, then perhaps you should reevaluate. Best of luck. -RM

Who says God doesn't wear a Red suit? -RM -
The following from the Bible Dictionary entry on the Revelation of John: Some Points of Doctrine: 1.A description of the resurrected and glorified Savior (1:13–15). 2.The importance of overcoming the world (3:21; 21:7). 3.The faithful are to be kings and priests unto God and will reign on the earth (1:6; 5:10; 20:6; 21:7). 4.Animals are resurrected from the dead, and there are animals in heaven, redeemed by the blood of Christ (5:11–14; D&C 77:3; HC 5:343). -Lost

I've got some really nice olive drab ones that I used to wear a lot. :-) I think you are ok to continue to use them after doing what you can to get them back to white. I am sure that the Lord does not want us to be wasteful. You did not try to dye them to a color you prefer more...it just happened. I am sure it does not change the intent or the meaning behind the garment. You are fine. -RM

Perhaps we should each take self responsibility. -RM

Perhaps much of your answer lies in the way you asked the question Anatess. If we considered ourselves one people as opposed to Americans, or Canadians, or Germans, or Chinese we would be less inclined to raise our weapons of war. -RM

I liked the travelers story, and wonder on reflection if the senior companion in the illustration was even breaking rules. I think much of what we think of or percieve as sin, really isn't and will only hinder our progress or progression if we let it do so. -RM
