  1. That's how it was taught in a non-dom. bible study group that I attended. That we were saved for good works, to be done through the power of the faith we call upon. Also they taught the inner court outer court and holy of holy's concept. Or, the thirty, sixty, hundred-fold blessings. Each says it in a little diffrent way. Yet I percieve that the same thought is getting across. That's why it doisn't make any sense that the body of believers should be so seperate from each other. Man always tends toward division, while Jesus prayed that we would be one as He and the Father were one. If each Church wants to be more open to co-operation among other Churches, or just have more understanding among themsleves, isn't that a good sign? just my two cents.
  2. Excellent way to see it, living for our faith. As much as there is to unravel about all the diffrences in the faiths of our day, it really does all come down to the finished work of Christ. That sounds sort of prodestant, and didn't mean it that way. Today as I was reading all about the Campbellites, I learned so much about the diffrent strains of the Church of Christ. And how some of the early followers of that went on to become Latter day Saints. Instead of a Grace vs works, maybe it has always just been more of the three levels of faith. In some circles its called, saved, being saved, and staying saved. If looked at that way, the three heavens are not accepted by prodestant believers, cause that looks like works. Yet couldn't it just be love. This thread has been really made me think about the unity of Christ within his kingdom.
  3. This is all so intersting to read. There seems to be such a lack of communication between all the diffrent faiths concerning the end times. Guess if not for a rapture, there would not be much positive to tell about the end times. I personally have never thought rapture, except as Jesus decends and we are caught up to meet him in the air. That is the second coming as I read 1Thessalonians 4:16-17. And the mark of beast would not be important if one was raptured away. Thousand year reign is a protestant belief also, thats enlightning to learn. I have heard some teachings of that being what is going on now as a 'church age'. As for the more revelation theme, it seems that to write down what is given through revelation is a more open way to share. Than just to read what we now have and say, 'well it really means this'. That part to me is the adding to or taking away. In my opinion. I do appreciate all the information given, it incourages my faith.
  4. How do Mormons and Evangelicals differ on end time things? Do either believe in anti-christ, or tribulation, ect.. On another thread the mark of the beast was mentioned and didn't seem to be a concern for any.
  5. So if you needed to have a mark put on you for some government or other reason, it would not cause a problem? Just wondering. I have heard the same explination from other religions as was gave about nero.
  6. As Jesus said, true worshipers worship in spirit and in truth. So again it could be a division between just worship and true worship. Worship is to know the diffrence between, and be humble to reverance, that diffrence. We worship our Lord because he is worthy. Praise and song is worship if our hearts are in tune with the spirit of truth. Just my two cents.
  7. As power tends to corrupt, then as a woman why would I want the power of any office, in any church? It seems a great responsibility and some (men or women) may have entered into without having a real revelation. Let's hope not many. I have been in prodestent churches where they are just as anti women in certain things, like prayer or teaching. Also home bible studies. It seems to be that who ever runs the study, has the say. Personally I prefer relationship over religion, at this time.
  8. As Paul stated, "For I determinded not to know anything amongyou, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified."(1cor2;2) This has always been a starting point for entering in to a conversation with another believer. Jesus must be our bridge of faith. I know the verse given is usually, "if they come preaching another Jesus" (2cor11;4). And this seems to somehow end the exchange of faith. Like that is the ultimate end of conversation. I know it is just fear that breaks the connection between people, and we have been admonished to avoid fear in our lives. Yes we are created for good works. Walking in agreement with our Lord Jesus gives us power to do the works he has given us to do. That brings true joy to all believers. Thank you for a forum that gives freedom to post our Love of Christ .
  9. Oh I forgot, I read a few of those chick tracks years ago. Thought they might get the message across in a shock fashion. Seemed a little hollow to me at the time. Think they may still be laying around the house somewhere.
  10. How true that is, grace really does work! And to fall in love with the giver of grace will change a life. Really enjoying the coments on this thread. Can't see if one type of believer is any happier than any other, and really what can just being happy teach us? I like the scripture that says, 'taste and see that the Lord is good'. Just a simple taste of the good life He offers will satisfy the hungry soul.
  11. Very much like that teaching, "progressive sanctification". Maturing in Christ as we receive light. Not much communication from the OSAS people. Maybe not angry but sure not friendly in their approach. Guess the "come let us reason togeather", is only among themselves. Building a bridge between believers is a tough project.
  12. I'm with Anne on this one. The ten commandments are the root of law. What man may consider right and wrong is so variable . However we have all been given a measure of faith, that lets us know the difference, whether we choose to agree with it or not. Sure makes a mess of governments when men try to decide on right and wrong, with out the inspiration of the living truth.
  13. Having visited and posted on several so called christian forums. For one thing if they see you have posted on a site that is friendly to LDS or RLDS, they just say "you are worshiping another Jesus". That totally confuses me. There is only one Jesus. So there is my two cents. How can there be any co-operation when they won't even consider you a chiristian? I think there should be a bridge between us all and he is our Lord Jesus too.
  14. After reading the bible all the way through first. The book of Mormon seemed easy. Maybe just me, yet I didn't think I could read the bible and get understanding, but the words came to me, "just pass it before your eyes". And I could do that, and the revealing was left up to the Holy Spirit. Does anyone know if there is a list of Jesus thru the Book of Mormon, like the one of the Bible? Where each book has a line to show Jesus as the thought of that book? Maybe I'm not asking clearly, sorry about that.
  15. So many threads to read. I came to this site just to explore all the diffrent levels of faith of my fellow christians. When I saw this one, Evangelicals and Mormons, it got my attention. For truly isn't there a bridge that can be built? Do we always have to stand apart from one another? It seems so sad. Jesus wanted all to be one as He and the Father are. I was raised RLDS, and you all know what that is about. As an adult, I accepted Christ into my heart when I was so desperate, and Heavenly Father was there for me. An awesome conversion on my own back porch that has served me for over thirty years. Anyway, I'm really enjoying the posts. Thanks for sharing.
  16. Liked Dravin's answer of how the two are tied togeather. Scripture says, "A sound heart is the life of the flesh: but envy the rottenness of the bones." (prov.14;30)
  17. I'm new to the forum. Just looking for a place of fellowship with other christians. Having been raised RLDS there are not many forums to post on. Most forums just won't accept me as a christian. So found this site by just browsing. Hope to post a little from time to time.
