Sounds like another business has caved to the pc crowd. Oh well, there is always another fast food place around the corner.

May I ask if the term is hot drinks, what about soups and the like? Hot drinks to me sounds more like whisky, but that is just another thought on the subject. Mt. Dew is sure a good pick me up for a long day of shopping.

I add my amen to your post. Most times the little problems fade in comparison to this real world situation.

Johnson created a 'war on poverty', yet Jesus said the poor you will have with you always. You can't create a war on the Word and have a healthy economy. O. Hatch once mentioned a sin tax. Well try to get our society to give a definition of that word today. The churches struggle with that word also. Government is supporting sin at many levels. Unless and until waste and fraud is dealt with our spending is always going out of bounds.

The Word teaches us to , hear the Fathers voice, and as a child of God that is our privilege . So what ever man says to us, we filter through what that Word that is revealed to us. If we do not seek, or do not have a revelation, our following is just works without faith. Choice of the Spirit or choice of the flesh. Our choice is to seek, or follow, or not do anything. I can't see how much more complicated this could become. If we do not make the gospel simple that a little child can understand, then it's just to overwhelming for adults also.

So many religions--why is yours right?
norah63 replied to prisonchaplain's topic in Christian Beliefs Board
Coming back to the scriptures "you must be born again". Every one who calls and wants to be saved, shows repentance of heart. Agreeing for the need of a redeemer and Lord. As they must have that personal revelation of the Heavenly Father, that only Jesus provides. Now as to religion, that is James 1;26-27 (KJV) There has always been much division in that area. -
My fav right now is white tea. Not much on postum, tried it once. The Bengal Blend sounds interesting.

Thanks for making this a little clearer. I thought the OP was trying to get at something with out really saying what it was. I'm sure we all use terms that others might understand differently. For me free will, or just agency, is my ability to choose what I am going to agree with. Might not involve an activity at all. Liberty to pray worship or believe as I choose. Who would know if it was, or was not, according to anyone else's beliefs? It is given unto us to choose this day whom we shall serve, so it would be our Heavenly Father that gives us all things .

May I ask, can you drink cold coffee or tea, If it's caffeine free? Just wondering . I like diet Mt Dew and don't think it is very good either.

Taking ever thought captive to the Word of God. That is the filter that keeps our thoughts from harming us. The Lord loves us and desires the best for us. Depression is just a trick of the devil to get us to doubt the love of our Heavenly Father.
-
It is probably as much in any other church as in the LDS. Some of the congregations I have sat in are just dry as dust. That could lead anyone to having a depressed idea of the gospel. Adding my two cents, when I read in the bible about confessing our faults to one another and praying one for another, that made a lot of sense to me. More participation in a service from everyone. Don't know how it would work, except for smaller groups togeather. For myself when going to a small church, I learn more and share more. It can be tough if you are shy but helpful to grow spiritually by putting your faith out there in a group. Instead of just sitting in silent agreement with questions unanswered. The joy of the Lord is my strength. Praise is the help for depression.

Yes, the good Samaritan is wonderful example. Anyone who has given their life over to Jesus Christ has that love downloaded into them by the new birth. And so loving our fellow man is just a part of the package. I don't get ," despite the atonement, and sacrifice of Christ, if someone has greater love".... There can be no greater love than the sacrifice and atonement of Jesus Christ. IMHO. Many other religions may have a form of compassion for their fellow man, and do good deeds for them. Empathy is a human trait in most people. And if they desire with their whole heart , no doubt the risen Christ will reveal Himself to them. And the Scriptures will come alive by the power of the Holy Spirit to the eyes of the believer who seeks . Some thirty, some sixty and some a hundred fold.

"They will get exactly what they think they want, for the most part" This left me with a little bit of wondering. Can't figure out just what that means. Will someone who has given their heart and life to the Lord Jesus and has done all they know to do, be rewarded with what they 'think' they want? Must be missing something here.

It must be our human nature. Isn't it always just taking everytihing personally

When can you not take the sacrament?
norah63 replied to Solstjerne76's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Thank you for that answer. I clicked and read that word. In our small congregation I knew it had to be grape juice that one in the church had made from their own grapes. Then it was sanctified with prayer as was the bread after it was broken. Having been on the forum for a while I felt comfortable enough to ask the question. -
The cost is always laid on the home owner. Even if they never had kids to send to school. Where as the unwed parents who draw the stamps and checks get the education offered free. So If They have at risk kids, and don't' have any incentive, to take advantage of a free education. Why pay ? It's like bribing a kid to learn. And for sure there are lots of single parents that do a wonderful job of raising their children. Don't want to single out any group. Just tired of paying for someone else's life style. Sure don't have taxpayer dollars to pay a woman to get a pregnancy visit.

May I ask why water is used instead of grape juice? -
Thank you for keeping the topic spiritual. Sex wasen't on my mind. I just asked about the bride of Christ because that is what the Scripture speaks of. And yes I do hold the words of Scripture to be my guide for revelation. Guess I just don't see the plan of salvation as complicated as others might.

In the Church I attended, you were to examine your self to know if you were worthy to partake. Letting your conscience be your guide. Maybe it is diffrent in the LDS. -
We had our lunch a little later, yet it was still crowded here in Missouri. Just a simple way of voting for family values being spoken out for. That is refreshing. And as for taking sides, well you couldn't tell if you were standing beside a Baptist or LDS, or Catholic or an anti-anything. Good food. The waffle fries are yummy. Spending our money however we choose, how American is that?

We are going a little later in the afternoon here in Missouri. Think the lunch crowd might be a little crowded. A friend says the cold-slaw is really good there, think I will try that today along with some strips or nuggets.

How to find time for spiritual things
norah63 replied to Twisted_Fairytales's topic in General Discussion
For just today it seems like you are living the heart of the gospel. You are lovingand taking good care of precious babies. That is a most high calling in my mind. Your every sigh of wanting to feel closer to Heavenly Father is showing that you are aware of where your daily help iscoming from. Most of us I am sure have times when we think we should have more reading, and kneeling time. It is the times of feeling weak, that we draw most on Jesus profound love and care. Many blessings to all today. -
Wish I had got on line last night. It was two thirty before going to bed. Resting in the recliner to give the sinus a break and keep from snoring. Today is a little foggy so far.

What happened to the wedding supper, I thought the church was the bride of Christ. Must be missing something here.

This morning on c-span the topic was, paying at risk children to go to school. How many more at risk will suddenly appear if they get paid? When did we drop the ball when it came to education? Some states already do this as was talked about.
