  1. To agree is really not so hard as some would make it. Jesus said a little child could understand. Most of us think we can at least grasp what a little child could. Does anyone honestly think that our loving Heavenly Father or His precious Son Jesus would put things so complicated that we would fail? Religious thinkers are the problem, not the answer. Revelations 21;8, doesn't speak well of those who tamper with truth. We don't beat our self up because we are still learning. Children learn. Do you really think it a"lie" to want more of what has already been paid for at the cross, just because you can't wrap your mind around it? An old hymn comes to mind, it goes, "we limit not the truth of God to our poor reach of mind" That is a sermon in and of its self. Trust and obey, tell Father what you long for, He loves us so much, and what we do not yet comprehend, he will gently lead, if we trust and obey.
  2. Does it seem to others that the power of the church is tied to the principal of having all things common? If so, as a body of believers, we have made the choice to walk another way. And sacrificed the power. Reading on after verse 11 in chpt 5, it states that the effect of that power shown was that many didn't want to associate with them, yet held them in high esteem. Multitudes were constantly added, and healing power was great. You can either try and think the gospel to death, or agree and live it to life. I pray for the times of the latter.
  3. That is about the only organization that gets my donation. Salvation Army, yes that denotes a place that might be hard to serve in. Bless you for your efforts. May many find the truth by your sharing.
  4. Don't know how to post a link or I would. Just type in 'neighbor charged in killing of 6 year old in Arkansaw' That brought up several places to read. It seemed awful fishy to me the way that 'hiding among Mormons' was put. Just another way to run down anything the media or government chooses IMO.
  5. Just saw a the bit about it on the fox news page this morning.
  6. This is a very helpful thread. Am learning much.
  7. What should or does the word pledge mean to a christian? It is used so careless these days, as are most words. To me words have meanings, and to give your pledge would be saying that you are to be trusted.
  8. Would hope for more of that kind of power in the church today. This playing fast and loose with all that God has made holy will have a payday someday.
  9. Looked like he was captured according to news today. Did anyone notice his location address?
  10. It's a 'sign' of the times. Sorry to say. Morals are not a topic that is well recieved in most places. Would not give the free advertisement if I were the parents.
  11. Guess we were the only ones who had our traditional pizza and salad dinner. The pilgrims would have loved pizza if they had tried some. Anyway we had the turkey and trimmings at the sr. cent. on tuesday.
  12. Ever notice how our society has traded the word sin for mistake? How handy to avoid repentance. Pardon the interuption.
  13. Sure has been interesting reading how diffrent some of your thoughts are on the two directions of government. All being of the same faith, yet strong in opinion on how it should play out. I pray that the Body of Christ not be divided over anything, and look always for an explaination of such weakness . Truth will stand, nations will fall unless they repent and ask for wisdom to lead. Pardon my interruption.
  14. Romney would have made a good president. Seemed very kind and caring. After the election was over my thought was, now the mess will be another's to handle. I pray God's guidence to be the first thing asked for by our leaders, in the beginning of our next four years. What so ever things are good and true and pure and honest. That's what I pray to lead and guide us as a nation.
  15. And we should all keep that ' taste' when we are decieved by the adversary. Out of the mouths of babes... Sounds like it was a good lesson, can you share a little more?
  16. The everlasting hills of Missouri. Beautiful fall color this year. Wouldn't want to live any place else.
  17. The often threat of government shutdown doesn't worry me in the least. Probably would be better off than now.
  18. The same idea of creation before actually forming, leads me to believe we can be God's creation, before we accept to be His children.
  19. To me a clear understanding of Scripture would be the diffrence between genesis chapter 1 and chapter 2. One is the creation, before it was here. 2 was to form and fashion our bodies. That has never seemed complicated. Is that not pre-mortal explained?
  20. Interesting thread. Reading through it the thought that came to me about logic and reason was, looking for purpose. Couldn't find any Scripture with the word logic, yet many of reason. I was hoping more would be said about the subject of satans origin and purpose. I had asked on another thread about that. Understanding well that it is a controversial subject. Just never heard anything on that from my RLDS background.
  21. May I ask a question, seeing as the thread is Relying on Scripture? A friend asked me if I knew if Mormons believed that Jesus and satan were brothers. I have read a little bit on that, but didn't have any Scriptures to give at the moment I was asked the question. Because I think he wanted to vote, just needed some clarification on that point. I wanted to keep my answer simple, yet accurate, so any help is appreciated. My friend thought if I was RLDS that is the same as LDS. Hard to explain to prodestents .
  22. Just stopping by to say it is very enlightning to read these posts. Never thought about the grace vs works as being a topic here. Have always been able to see both sides, yet come away knowing that grace truly does the work. Our labors of love on behalf of our Heavenly Father are just that. Doesn't add anything to the gift of grace, moreover it shows much gratitude for that grace.
  23. this forum is the one I have found to be the most forgiving of any mistakes we might feel we make. Some other forums that call themselves christian are brutal. As others have said, ya gotta develop a tough hide to post in some places. And that makes for a better christian wittness, imo, iron sharpens iron. You can't get good at sharing if you don't share.
  24. Like him or not Glenn Beck seems to have built a bridge of communication from Latter day Saints to many who are seeking answers to their questions. In this year especially many are reading and asking, and getting some clarification on things that might have otherwise been misrepresented. That has to be a positive.
  25. Just read today the same piece, that they had made no concessions. Thanks for posting it prisonchaplin. Why did the media make it sound the other way around? I hope they are not giving in to make more money. We like their food and always good service. Yet we gave up Penney's when they took the wrong example to be their spokesperson.
