  1. Oh sorry, here's a direct link to the site if you can't be bothered to look for the link yourself. http://www.wingia.com/en/services/about_the_end_of_year_survey/global_results/7/33/
  2. They're bias because they don't paint the tea party in a good light maybe? Its not me who said it but a poll by gallup. http://www.salon.com/2014/01/09/the_top_4_threats_to_global_peace_guess_who_is_number_one_partner/
  3. Does his grandad own a chain of fried chicken joints?
  4. So now google is bias? Really? And frankly I don't care what their policies are as long as they don't affect me or my loved ones. After two illegal wars, the illegal bombing of sovereign national states, is it any wonder that the USA are quoted as the number one threat to world peace.
  5. But then those nutty brits, white folk, europeans etc aren't trying to become the government of one of the most powerful nations in the world, so at the end of the day, their nutty ideas don't count for much.
  6. The only thing that can save the country is the gospel of Jesus Christ, and as for Bernie Sanders, I've no idea who he is!
  7. Not at all, I think on the whole, the UK is doing quite well the way it is. No I call people nutjobs because they come out with nutty things, just google tea party and nutty ideas and you will see what I mean!
  8. Why would I be against nazism/fascism? Because they are inherently evil right wing ideologies, that caused the deaths of untold millions of people including many of my family.
  9. This gives a good representation of a traditional Christian responce to Halloween. It seems to have caught on in a big way in the UK I personally don't allow my kids to participate because of the occult links.
  10. Not all republicans, just the nutjobs like those in the tea party. As for the European media, its quite the opposite, they are often very pro-republican, especially now with the swing to the right that europe is taking politically. Neo-fascism is once again on the rise in Europe which is a sorry state of affairs after such a short period of history since fascism was defeated in WW2.
  11. I never said it did make it true, though it does seem to be a view held only in the US by those of the right that Hitler was a socialist. A quick google search shows how preposterous such a statement is, and flies in the face of over 70 years of history and quite frankly belittles the memory of those who fought against such tyranny that it is being labelled and portrayed as something it wasn't to ease the conscience of the neo fascists of the republican party.
  12. Hitler was not a socialist. http://europeanhistory.about.com/od/germanyandprussia/fl/Was-Adolf-Hitler-a-Socialist-Debunking-a-Historical-Myth.htm
  13. Or you live in the UK where the majority of these things already happen and we certainly aren't a communist country!
  14. Nope but I would like to visit there one day! I do however enjoy my paid holidays, free healthcare, my paid paternity leave, my paid sick leave and my state pension (when I eventually retire!).
  15. I've returned to the church after a long absence. I drifted way from the church because worldly distractions got in the way and it was easier to stay away once I stopped attending, I used to hide when ever I saw members that I knew! I began to think about returning to the church in 2006 after a motorcycle accident, I saw an advert for the church on the TV and called up, the missionaries came round and over a period of time I began to attend church again. It has been a struggle as in the intervening years I married and had kids, my wife is not supportive of my involvement with the church and was very anti-LDS to begin with. Now its easier but she still isn't happy about my membership. We are working through it. I guess that I've always know the church is true, and have always had a testimony of the church from when I first investigated all those years ago. I've attended another church whilst away, I met my wife when I was attending a Baptist church, I also went to Bible college as I felt drawn to ordained ministry. I enjoyed the whole experience but there was always a nagging doubt in the back of my mind that something wasn't right. In the 3rd year of bible college during a class on other faiths a couple of LDS missionaries were invited in to share with the class, the class didn't show much Christian charity to them and I knew then that maybe this was the wrong road for me. I did go and work in a local Baptist church for a while but found that many of the so called Christians were not very Christian in their attitudes or behaviour so I resigned and turned my back on the Baptist church. I guess that was when I began my road back to the church, but even then it was a few years before I actively did anything about it. Funny thing was I've only ever seen an advert on TV for the Church that one time, never seen one since! I guess Heavenly Father works in mysterious ways and that short TV spot was enough to motivate me to get in touch with the missionaries and eventually return to church.
  16. I agree totally. Point 2 is interesting as when I was at bible college it certainly sounded like gibberish to me! Though there was often interpretation as well. I believed that this was tongues because that was what I was told it was. I even had experience of it myself. Now many years down the line I'm not so sure it was. Is what is called today speaking in tongues the same as what is recorded in the bible? I'm not sure it is.
  17. Now that sounds fun! No idea what it is, but it certainly sounds like something fun!
  18. Wow, makes me glad that I don't live in the US!
  19. I was just watching the Modern Prophets video on President John Taylor, early on it mentioned that when he was praying next to Niagara Falls he had spoke in tongues. I've never really heard of LDS speaking in tongues before so was wondering, what if any experiences people had of this gift of the Spirit? During my time at bible college there was much speaking in tongues during prayer meetings and worship services (well there would be as it was an Assemblies of God college!). Though I personally believed that this particular gift was more to do with others being able to understand the gospel message in their own language even when it wasn't being spoken by the person talking, like in the book of Acts and not some random sounding babble that was often heard at college! Not that I'm denigrating what was at the time a very spiritual experience, I've just changed my own personal view on what I believe that particular gift was and is. So what if any experiences do you have with this gift, and what do you think its role/purpose is today for the church?
  20. I was nervous because its so rare, I'm 47 so as you can guess guns are not something that are seen often in the UK. The guns I saw were with the police, I've only ever seen one hand gun in civilian ownership which was before the ban. The figures speak for themselves, we have strict gun controls, with low gun ownership and very few gun related deaths, compared with very high gun ownership and rocketing gun deaths in the US. I certainly know where I would feel safer. This makes interesting reading: The US, though, is the only country in the world where, following a mass shooting, the nation has responded with loosening, not tightening, gun laws. After 23 people were killed in a mass shooting in Texas in 1991, the state pushed through a law permitting the carrying of concealed weapons. Even the murder of 26 children and adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in December 2012 saw a call for fewer, not more gun law restrictions. It was reported a year later by PBS that 27 American states had passed 93 laws expanding gun rights, including measures that let people carry concealed weapons in churches and campuses, or even to use them in self-defence when drunk. Some schools even now allow their teachers to go armed. http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/may/18/gun-violence-waco-texas-shot It fluctuates but averages out at around 30 or so deaths, the site you linked to shows data upto 2013, according to the office of national statistics in 2012/13 there were 30 gun related deaths in UK. http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/crime-stats/crime-statistics/focus-on-violent-crime-and-sexual-offences--2012-13/rpt---chapter-3---weapons.html
  21. I think I've seen a gun in the UK maybe 4 or 5 times, made me feel very nervous at the sight. That our police and public don't carry firearms around all the time makes me feel a lot safer than if they did.
  22. Strange as we had two mass shooting incidents in the mid 80's and banned handguns and an assortment of other firearms. We have below 30 gun related deaths a year nowadays. Seems to have worked fine here.
  23. Well the missus and I were traveling back from Edinburgh the other day and according to google maps the journey of 120 miles would take 2h 34 minutes by car, 1h 30 minutes by train, 12h 22 minutes by bike and 24h by foot!
