Something tells me that if you ask a Missionary if they even care that their Mission President and the Mission President's wife (like a Mother to Missionaries) had a maid to help out so that more of the lords work could be done that they wouldnt care at all. In Venezuela my Mission President had a maid. But what is funny, is that we still think that a Mission Presidents wife just sits around doing nothing. They are working 24/7 just like the President. Back to the Tithin issue, maybe we can close this thread? There is an overwhelming mutual feeling that once we give, we have no say in the matter. We need to let go. The Judgement any leader will get from God for knowlingly spending Tithes wrong is much worse than any of us can conjur up I'm sure. I once gave a window mount AC unit to my brother in law, he just got married, had a newborn and no AC. About a week after I gave it to him, they moved into an apartment with AC. What did he do with the AC unit? Obiously he wasnt using it. M ind you, at this time, I didnt have the money to just go out and buy this for him. I gave it from my heart. So I have been bitter until giving and receiving advice in threads like this one. It doesnt matter what he did with it, I gave it away.

I am not sure how many people are involved with the tithing reaching the end of the line and then distributed as needed. But I do know that it goes through the Bishopric. Could someone somewhere be corrupted at that level? Sure, but how many are there that handle funds at this stage? Two per ward times how many wards there are, I can't imagine "The Church" being corrupted at that level can you? Then the next level, the Stake times how many stakes there are. Then I believe there would be a region.... etc... all the way to make the final report. So sure there may be a few here and there that either make a mistake or are not honest, but to mention "The Church" like it is some blob of mass that hovers around that we want monitored is incorrect in my opinion. We ALL monitor the "Church" as we are the Church. On the auditing side, they are not just Church auditors, they are a separate company that risks a lot if they are involved with any foul play. That company puts their name on the line each time they audit and put their stamp of approval. We monitor ourselves and we have a separate company monitor as well. That is plenty enough for me. These are not taxes that we pay to pave a well built road to heaven, but the Lords money. If they are not honest with it, condemnation will fall upon their heads. But in the end, who am I to question God how his money is used? I dare not ask.

New BMW car will get an estimated 90 miles per gallon
EarlJibbs replied to Still_Small_Voice's topic in General Discussion
Let's put clean air on the side for a moment. Other than that, why would you buy it? Because it would be cheaper than gas? The more common eletric cars become, the more the shift will change to higher prices in electricity or taxes for owning one. Let's not forget that gasoline get's the government a ton of income and they are not going to let that just slide. I for one think that there is great tech out there (like this one) that would bennefit a lot more people that cant afford a $130,000 car that is being held back. For the same reason the US is so involved in the middle east... oil. It doesnt put a damper on revenue if a bunch of rich guys own this car. But can you imagine if we all did? -
Offended? Ha! I am not sure you could offend us. Welcome Valerie! There are plenty on here that are more than willing to answer any questions you may have. Hope to see you around the site.

There are several on this forum that would be able to relate to your anti-social issues I think. I dont think you would have a problem feeling accepted, you may actually feel a little overwhelmed by joining a very social group like the LDS. I am in no way dicouraging it, just a little warning that you may get bombarded with love and attention. I say go for it and see how you like it. Being a member of the church is one thing I really rely on. I know that anywhere I go, I instantly have friends and a group of people that understand my beleifs and accept me. I love it.

New Jersey court sets precedent for distracted driving texts
EarlJibbs replied to EarlJibbs's topic in General Discussion
I text all the time while I drive. Fortunately for me I use Siri when I do. It will repeat my message after I say it so that I can proof it and everything. I personally feel that even if you said something in your text like "lol I know ur driving, dont get in a wreck!" you shouldnt be held accountable for someone elses actions. -
Is the sentence then death to Syrians for cheering when 9/11 happened? Have you ever felt joy over someone elses suffering? And should you die for that? I see what you are saying, but we should take the higher ground here and help humans (not saying we should put boots on the ground) where we can. They are our Brothers and Sisters.

Intellectual Compatibility in Marriage
EarlJibbs replied to guenzo's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
That sounds like my wife. I am not a sports nut, but I have an even knowledge of sports, cars, video games, tech.... I love it when she pipes in with a little tidbit when I talk to her. When I say I am impressed she knew that, her grin seems to say "I knew you would be" HAHA!! I love it! -
Intellectual Compatibility in Marriage
EarlJibbs replied to guenzo's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
I use some of your own words, but let us assume they are coming out of your wifes mouth? Your Wife: "Guenzo, Please don't say that because it is important to you that it is important to me. We all find importance in different things. It doesn't make those things less important, just different" Your wife is happy with (in your opinion) non-inteligent conversations. I think it is completely fair to let her know that you would like to have (in your opinion) meaningful conversations, as long as you understand that "miningful" to her may be different than yours. I know that my wife listens to my talk of certain topics with a smile and a nod. I accept that. I do not think her any less inteligent for not being interested or not understanding. A few more questions, does your wife stay home while you work? How many children do you have? What types of presumable inteligent conversations are we talking about here? I am not saying you are wrong in your feelings, as they are your own. But with the limited knowledge provided, I would say bluntly, suck it up and do your roll and try to make her the happiest woman on Earth. I completely assume that she has had her feelings hurt by all of this. I know I would, to know that my Celestial companion thinks me a dolt. Again, my opinion based solely off of what information has been handed to me. Best of luck Brother. -
Don't worry Lakumi, if you are an MST3K fan, I get you. I have the same problem, even in great movies, it isnt just chatting. It's making little riffs during the movie am I right? I have to hold my toungue during movies I shouldnt make comments during. MST for life! haha.

Testimony Status
EarlJibbs replied to Bini's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
I don't think, even when singling out a certain area that we can have a perfect testimony. Or if we can, for me that would be very dificult. However, that doesn’t mean that we don’t have a sufficient testimony as Miss Half Way said. For example, I have always thought that I had a strong testimony on Prayer. I am getting ready to move to TX. I need some things to fall in place here in UT. And quite honestly, it has extremely tested my testimony in Prayer, Fasting, Faith in Heavenly Father... the list goes on. I like to think of mine as strong or weak, like the roots of a tree. Not work in progress or perfect. Each root is my testimony of each item. For example, when tested, does our testimony remain strong, or does it begin to break? Are there areas, that when the winds of uncertainty blow that weaken the rest of my roots? -
Estradlings profile says it is his favorite movie. I think Estradling was just giving everyone time.
-
Sorry!! I went to lunch! I hereby reward Estradling 1,000 points! Pam, I reward you with 400 points, because Mr Clement is in that movie. That is one of my all time favorite movies. Use your points wisely.
-
No need, leave that to the LDS.Net Inquisitor FunkyTown. He was just put in place today.
-
As much as I think that would be awesome, nope, not me. 1,000 points however to the person that can tell me who it is.

Drats! I am moving to Houston at the end of September. Looks like you will all have to continue to look at my avitar that doesnt portray me in any way.

Maybe, but everyone thought that Heath Ledger was going to do terrible when he played the Joker. My opinion, I will wait for the movie to cast any judgment. I am actually excited to see why they would do this. Maybe he can pull it off. If he doesn’t talk like he has irreversibly damaged his vocal chords due to the world’s worst acid reflux… I think I will like it haha!
