What about a Roomba? They make those for pets now. Nothing sounds more appealing to me than having a robot (that may or may not revolt) do work for me.

Your scenario definitely is not the norm. Once baptized one should get the priesthood as fast as they are ready for it. As far as taking orders from 12 year olds, it doesn’t change if you are a Teacher, a Priest, Elder or High Priest. The 12 year old over the deacons hold "keys" and may ask for help and has authority in certain areas. So, we all do it. :)

I do not feel misled by anyone. Especially by the church as a whole. I am not sure who in the church to ask about free masons, but I definitely wouldnt think missionaries are very well read up on the subject. Even on the subject of Mountain Meadows, that will not be widely known. The Church's mission is to convert through Christ, his teachings and Gospel saving ordinances, not to focus on trying to convert through historical events in the church that have no relevance in Baptism and eternal principles. It seems that you have your mind made up that the church needs to come clean about a whole lot of dirty laundry that may not have anything to do with the truthfulness of it's teachings. If you look for things to be concerned about the list will never end. Not necessarily because there isnt a good answer, but because the adversary will make your list grow longer and longer. That is not to say however that there have never been atrocities that have happened at the hands of members. But that goes for any membership of any group.

Amish Romance Novel huh? Are those better than the Star Trek Romance novels that Pam reads?

Would I still be able to go on a mission with a tattoo?
EarlJibbs replied to Robb8547's topic in Advice Board
Can it be converted to a tatoo of the Sword of Laban? Of course, just a joke. I agree with Windseeker. But talking to your Bishop should clear it up quick. -
What a good discussion. Thanks for the post Mike. I think that all of us need to remember that not every member is a scholar. We are all learning about Christ's work. If I were asked, I couldnt guaranty a full, complete answer on a lot of subjects, but we must also remember that if we do not know, we shouldnt make it worse by misquoting or making things up (so we do not look bad) because it only makes things worse. I am known for simply saying "I don't know, we should find out". I am sorry that is not what happened in your case. Good luck. Remember, members are regular people trying to do right by God, and unfortunately for us, we are all still infants making pleanty of mistakes along the way.

It's good to hear that he was found! I have always thought of it as if you fast without purpose, you are simply going hungry. Again, I am glad they found your nephew. I hope you can add upon your own testimony from this experience.

Have you tried encouraging them to go to class. Something like "you know, if any of you would like to go to class, I can handle things around here." I would involve your leaders to encourage them also to attend their other meetings.

Regardless of the reserved for a cop stall, I personally think that the police officers should be able to park there if they are on duty. Their car is their office and transportation. If they need to get out quickly, they should have their car close. I have never had a problem with this. I suppose those opposed to this may change their opinion if a police officer was 1 minute late to save someone because they had to go all the way to the back of Walmart to get to their car.

1. Using wifi service that is not password protected but is private like a residential network not intended for public use. the only way to do this, would be to live nearby or to be creeping house to house. Either one should be avoided 2. Taking in outside food and drink (that you've hidden or the usher said nothing) into a movie theatre that prohibits it. My honest opinion, I dont think that far ahead and do not take anything to snack on. Have I done it? Yep, no regrets. 3. Wearing perfectly good clothing and returning it afterwards because you can and they don't ask questions if you've got a receipt or kept tags on.This I think is a more or less theft. Stores do not re-sell those clothing full price do they? Either way, you have just shortened the life expentency of the clothin by one day 4. Using a handicapped stall in the restroom when you do not have any physical or mental disabilities.I have always understood it as handicap accessable, like the ramps. We do not tell people not to use the ramps. Now let's say there is a line, and everyone is using all of the stalls. Someone that fitst the description needs to use the handicap stall enters, everyone should allow that person to cut and make it accessable. 5. Saving places in line while waiting to be called in a first-come-first-serve setup. 7. Turning on and using your phone before the aeroplane has taxied and come to a complete stop.I dont beleive it messes up any instruments 8. When leaving, taking extra food out of a buffet restaurant for later.I have dont this with items like cotton candy 9. Allowing your children to use first names for authority figures or elders, such as: teachers, parents or grandparents. If they are close enough to call someone by name, why not? Unless you are in a public setting, I see not reason to always use titles, again, if you know them well enough. 10. Not spaying or neutering your family pet because puppies/kittens might be fun or you foresee making a quick buck by breeding.I have no opinion on the reasons presented. However, not spaying or neutering your pet that breeds constantly without any intent on keeping or placing them over and over? Bugs me pretty bad.

To be a Utah team you need to have two Z's in the name. It would have to be the Mormonzz.

Why would it make a difference if you were to go on a nature walk on your property or ride a little motorbike. What if you were to ride regular bycicles around, would there be a problem then? What if you owned land with a lake and decied to go out on your row boat?

Any friends from Houston? Looks like I may be moving there. Just negotiating price and start date and the nightmare begins (selling/renting house, buying new home, uprooting family etc...).

Got some great news!

I know that you have been working on this for a while Jody. Best of luck and keep it up. -
I thought of one. It is more administrative. If the Pope announces something, is it passed down through levels of hierarchy until it reaches you in church? How is the announcement spread? Who do you hear it from?

If you feel that you are ready to serve, there is nothing wrong with talking to the Bishop about this. However, they may already have something in mind for you, but it sometimes takes a while to get everything else in place. My most favorite calling - Young Mens President. My least Favorite - Young Mens president. I loved what I was doing, working with the youth, but the time commitment made it one of the most difficult.

Fear doesnt come from God. Remember this. So if you are making decisions based on what you think may be inspirational fear. It is most likely not Heavenly Father. This is advice for me also, as I am afraid to say yes to a nwe job, and I was starting to think that the fear was from Heavenly Father, which it wasnt. Fear can make us alert, but we should not make decisions based off of them. My strong personal opinion is that God has given us our guidlines to be married, but not to whom. There is not one person or "soul mate" out there just waiting for you or them to be snatched up by their true love. make your decision on marrage and then let God know your righteous desire to marry that person. I dont think you need to ask "is this the right person?" Rather, "this is what I am going to do, but I submit to your will" With that said, I am married to the one person I cannot live without. Not because it was predetermined, but because we made it this way. Best of luck.

If she was abused when she was younger by a relative, or by anyone, this can sometimes come out all of a sudden with force. When this happens, it changes everything. I am not saying this is what has happened. But I agree that counceling for her past is probably a good start. Good luck Brother.

What was your first contact with lds.net?
EarlJibbs replied to classylady's topic in General Discussion
I joined because I was tired of the hate everywhere else seemed to offer. Even FB, Youtube comments, KSL (news) comment board... whenever Mormons came into the mix, everyone seemed to be very negative. I wanted a place to talk openly but not be name called. -

Since 911 operators never give bad advice ALWAYS listening to them seems to be the best idea? Here are a few examples I found. The second link is terrible. Denver 911 Apologizes for Deadly Instructions Oregon Woman Raped After 911 Call Goes Unanswered | Fox News Insider I am not saying that Zimmerman shouldnt have backed off, but there is a difference with talking with someone over the phone and actually being there in the moment. How would our attitude change if Zimmerman would have backed off and then Mr Martin harmed someone else? Then what, we yell and scream at the 911 operator and scrutinize Zimmermans decision?

Congratulations on your decision to be baptized. You may find that there will be many distractions that are trying to point you in a different direction. Please do not let these distractions work. You are not the only one that knows that this is a good decision. The adversary knows it as well.
