Why is there a "crazy" switch with single adults in our faith?

The poorest segments of the population also tend to live there. Haven't noticed a homeless problem here at all. -

Very bad advice in Texas. I spent two years without a car in Dallas, and had to pass up a lot of good jobs because even catching the first bus at 6AM wouldn't get me to certain parts of town by 8. Texas has some of the most poorly designed transit systems in the US because they're not made for working folks to get to work. Plus, the added costs of living in the city can kill any increase in pay that you manage to get. Much more profitable in the long run to look at the under 100,000 population metro areas online, find out who the major employers are in each one, and start emailing resumes and cover letters. For example, Kohler in Brownwood, FMC in Stephenville, Antelope Oil in Weatherford, Owens Corning in Waxahachie, etc. -

You're not even two hours from me. In fact, I think our stakes share a boundary. Makes me wonder if we're dealing with some of the same crazies. -
Short version, car broke down ($500 car, at least very shot rings, possibly cracked block. Engine would be $450, so really not worth fixing while there are better cars on Craigslist. Don't really have the $450 to spare anyway, though.) while I was in the process of retiring a couple of moderate debts. Fortunately, one of my coworkers lives near me, so on days I can't ride my bike, I can catch a ride to work. Unfortunately, though, not having a car makes things like laundry and grocery shopping a lot trickier; it's about a mile and a half to the laundromat, and obviously that's a problem in rainy weather. Groceries are limited to what I can safely carry on the bicycle. There's fast food about five minutes' walk from me, but that costs a lot more than groceries, and isn't anywhere near as healthy. There were also some immediate costs in getting the bike back to commuting condition, and stocking up a few things when I have the opportunity. That, and the desire to get the debts dealt with before interest and fees put me in a hole that will take a year or more to claw out of, has me looking at 10-12 weeks before I'll have the cash on hand to seriously look for another car. A friend suggested that it might be a good idea to get things like that out in the open, rather than keeping it to myself until the situation gets to the point where I have to admit I can't fix it by myself and someone ends up taking on all the effort and expense of bailing me out of whatever mess I end up in. (In fairness, he was mostly repeating what I told him after I fixed his car at midnight in the middle of nowhere because he didn't mention it was having problems when I could have fixed it in his driveway the Saturday before.) To that end, I decided to try one of the crowdfunding sites, tell my story there, and share it with friends to see how much the process could be sped along with a few people kicking in $5-10. Well, so far, there are three donations totaling $150. Since I'm only looking for about a $1000-1500 car, ($500 will usually get one that runs, but $1000 opens up a lot of "runs great but I just don't need it anymore" deals.) that's a pretty good chunk, and roughly what I'd expect to be able to set aside per two week pay period towards a car, so they've bumped my expected purchase ahead by two weeks already. More than that, those three aren't among the people I would have expected anything from. I've never bailed any of them out of a bad situation, nor have we even discussed such beyond a couple of FB posts about the car breaking down. It's good to know that I have friends like that that I didn't even know would be that quick to step up. I can't fault the ones I would expect help from; first off they don't owe me anything (well, except for one, but that's another story) and second, I know some of them are dealing with their own problems right now. I suspect, based on some texts, that a couple of them are planning to contribute a fair bit, but are either planning it into their budget, or just waiting to see how much help I end up needing after another pay period or two. Overall, I guess the moral of the story is let your friends know as soon as you could use some help. As the song says, "no one can fill those of your needs that you won't let show."

Why is there a "crazy" switch with single adults in our faith?

If I date three women in a row who all have the same problem, I start asking myself why this is apparently my type, and what I need to change to get away from that. In the FB singles groups, it's a constant theme from the women; guys are immature, they all just want sex, etc. It's funny how often I can go sit down with a half dozen other guys who don't fit that mold, discuss the post, and find out that she's turned at least three of us down because we're just not her type. If she's seeing a lot of immature men, she should probably take another look at the ones she passed over without properly considering them. -

I have to choose whether to wear my Iron Man, Millennium Falcon, or Rebel Alliance cufflinks to Church Sunday. (Thinking Rebel Alliance logo if I can find my red tie to match. Otherwise the red/gold one goes really well with the Iron Man ones, or the plain pewter Millennium Falcons work with the silver tie and hanky.) -

I know an Atheist who puts shredded carrots in lime Jello. Just because the Church doesn't have a total monopoly on certain things doesn't mean it's not hogging a lot more than its fair share of the crazy single women. -
Diamondshark.com sometimes has them for $9.99 with free shipping for basic tungsten carbide. However, as hard as they are to scratch, dropping one on ceramic tile can easily shatter it. I lost one to that and another got pretty scuffed up when I was working for a company that made serious industrial abrasives specifically for shaping stuff like tungsten.

What would you do? (semi-serious question)

As long as China and Nigeria are gone, it would be worth it to see a world without junk email again. -
I don't recall ever seeing any restrictions on sugar to the extent that there have been on alcohol. Certainly never any across-the-board ones that would also prohibit substitutes like HFCS as well.

Well, I'll be in my 50s before my kids are grown. Don't currently have a wife, and if it's my ex, I'd rather take my chances with the bomb. Now if I'm being issued a good looking, sane wife for the experiment, I'm sure we can keep ourselves busy for a while in the shelter. -
Never quite understood the 72 hour limit on the Safe Haven laws, though I'd have to agree 8 years is really pushing it. http://www.aol.com/article/2016/03/10/mom-accused-of-abandoning-son-at-hospital-with-note-saying-he-wa/21325840/?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000058&intcmp=hplnws

Looking for autographs? Not like there's any other reason to take the books along where you're hoping to end up.
-
Leave it here for my kids to deal with. Not my problem anymore.

And let's not forget how much that big pitcher of spiced horchata looks like white russians.

Then they need to quit drinking water, because that sure looks like vodka. No apple juice either, because it looks like their kids have sippy cups of bourbon.

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/110656/ginger-sekanjabin/ Rather than all the hassle of mincing the ginger, I generally just put the water in the blender and start dropping in chunks of ginger. (You'll never get it all blended up if you dump it all in at once.) Boil the result, reduce heat to simmer for a few minutes, then put the sugar in a container that can handle the thermal shock, strain your ginger pulp and water mix onto the sugar, and mix in the vinegar. Remember to dilute before drinking. I used to always carry a 16oz bottle of the syrup around and use it to flavor up chilled bottled water in the summer. Experiment with the sugar. I usually prefer it with three cups, and I've made it with two, though it was a bit sour.

Didn't say they didn't have a reason, but they did go to the Middle East and hack up a bunch of Muslims.
-
You mean those times that the Catholics went to the Middle East and hacked up a bunch of Muslims? Yeah, pretty much.
-
Oh sure, because they've never done that before.

Try juice. Really, sometimes that morning sluggishness is just a combination of low blood sugar and dehydration since you haven't had anything to eat or drink in several hours. I usually keep a sport bottle of oversweet lemonade (quart bottle, lemon for a pint but sugar for the whole quart - basically, figure out how much lemon you need for it to not be cloyingly sweet) by the bed and finish it as part of the morning routine. It's a pretty effective wakeup.

I'm just a couple weeks past the three years sober mark, but coming up on four years since my baptism. I still struggle with nicotine cravings often as well, and that one has gone from fully back at a pack a day to none for a couple of weeks in a fairly random cycle.

AFAIK, the SDAs only strongly recommend vegetarianism. The outright prohibition is only on treif meats. So yes, it's not just the Jews who can somehow hold the belief that a loving God wouldn't let us have bacon.
