  1. 2:1 ratio in favor for the men. I believe that's the ratio they used during the siege of Leningrad (workers vs non-essentials).
  2. I was able to with her when she passed on December 21st. We spent $2,500 trying to save her life but she lost her battle against IMHA. The Last Battle If it should be that I grow frail and weak And pain should keep me from my sleep, Then will you do what must be done, For this -- the last battle -- can't be won. You will be sad I understand, But don't let grief then stay your hand, For on this day, more than the rest, Your love and friendship must stand the test. We have had so many happy years, You wouldn't want me to suffer so. When the time comes, please, let me go. Take me to where to my needs they'll tend, Only, stay with me till the end And hold me firm and speak to me Until my eyes no longer see. I know in time you will agree It is a kindness you do to me. Although my tail its last has waved, From pain and suffering I have been saved. Don't grieve that it must be you Who has to decide this thing to do; We've been so close -- we two -- these years, Don't let your heart hold any tears. -Unknown author-
  3. You are comparing apples with oranges. Those stories are from businesses and not religious organizations. Businesses does not have the same right as churches to discriminate against people based on race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. A more relevant question would be: Has any church in the United States ever been forced to perform an interracial marriage ceremony? As far as I know the answer is: No. Same thing will happen to gay marriage. The LDS church will not be forced by law to perform same-sex marriages in its chapels and temples.
  4. Well, to me "not always very kind" seems to be an understatement. I have gotten the impression that they are openly anti-Mormon (and anti-JW).
  5. Institute for Religious Research is not known for being friendly toward the LDS church. I would link to its pages on Mormonism, but I believe that I would break the TOS for this site if I did.
  6. It's an awful chart. It describes Mormons that doubts as being worse than serial killers, child molesters, wife beaters, and Adolf Hitler. The chart has one purpose and one purpose only: to make the church look like a cult.
  7. Because the whole scenario is not a reasonable fear.
  8. Not sure if that's a good idea. I know plenty of people that would be greatly offended by unsolicited inquiries into their choice of clothing.
  9. Godwin's Law only applies to Hitler and the Nazis, not Mussolini and the Fascists.
  10. One of my dogs are dying and she might not make it through the night. I'm 1,500 miles away and my flight wont depart until tomorrow afternoon. That Tennessee Whiskey in the hotel room refrigerator looks mighty tempting right now. That's all. Thank you for listening.
  11. I loved that t-shirt until I saw that it is sold by Kleargear. No way I'm doing business with such a awful company. That's a shame because I wanted the t-shirt.
  12. Why would you need a 25 ft HDMI cable? 6 ft should be plenty for almost all situations.
  13. Don't forget to get the HDMI cable for $6. It will cost you much more if you go to a local store. Amazon.com : AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cable (6.5 Feet/2.0 Meters) - Supports Ethernet, 3D, and Audio Return [Newest Standard] : Electronics
  14. Go to Amazon and buy yourself a Roku LT for $37. You really can't get anything better for that kind of money. Amazon.com: Roku LT Streaming Media Player (Purple) (2700R) (2013 Version): Electronics
  15. Invictus Out of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll. I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. - William Ernest Henley
  16. In traditional Swedish manner we celebrate Christmas (and eat big family dinner) on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day is for sleeping in, resting our bloated stomachs, and playing with the new toys.
  17. You can get boring black ones.
  18. Where do you get the information that they showed up uninvited at the soup kitchen? I have been looking at numerous articles about this controversy and I cannot find anything that says that they showed up at the soup kitchen uninvited and offered their services. Isn't it just as likely, or perhaps even more so, that they did not physically showed up at the soup kitchen but contacted the charity's coordinators via phone or email and offered their services?
  19. I hear a musical number from Jesus Christ Superstar in my head every time I see that place.
  20. One problematic issue is that the church culture, in my opinion, forces the Young Men to go on a mission, at earliest possible date, even if they are not emotionally or spirtiually ready or perhaps doesn't even want to go. If they don't go on a mission they are considered somehow broken and unworthy marriage material. What are the most important thing the church culture teaches the Young Women to look for in a husband? Return Missionary and Worthy Priesthood Holder, right? The message being sent to the Young Men: go on a mission or no YW will want you for their husband.
  21. According to scripture, tithing is a tenth of your annual increase. It can be interpreted in three different ways. 1. 10% of your gross income (before tax) to include child support and other benefits. 2. 10% of your net income (after tax). 3. 10% of your actual increase (of wealth) after paying taxes, mortgage, utilities, school tuition, and other fees and unavoidable expenses.
  22. "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Dave Hall." I guess he and the rest of the three stooges got tired of being mocked by the world. They never posted it on YouTube themselves. Hall posted in on his Facebook account and later on SL Tribune uploaded it to YouTube.
  23. Unsportsmanlike behavior maybe; bullying no. They probably should have allowed their opponents to score at least a touchdown.
  24. They have now been removed from leadership position in BSA. The Utah National Parks Council did not believe their excuse that the rock was loose and a safety hazard. Source: Men who toppled Goblin Valley rock removed as Boy Scout leaders | The Salt Lake Tribune
  25. How old are both of you? Still in college?
