Since this old thread got bumped, I figured I would ask my question and someone may know. I do a ton of genealogy on ancestry.com and have GEDCOM it over to newfamilysearch.com. I had so much done that I stopped searching until I got caught up a bit in getting the work done. My husband and I like doing it ourselves. Anyway... I started looking again, but now when I click to find out if there is a duplicate record at newfamilysearch it tells me Please use Family Tree to identify and remove possible duplicates. My question is... should I just do ALL my adding names on Family Tree or do I continue to add names to newfamilysearch. Seem kinda odd to have two places to go. Hope that made sense. Angel

preparing from visit from home/visiting teachers
AngelMarvel replied to mormonS's topic in General Discussion
Dahlia that is a perfect answer. I know there are times that I am out of town with my husband while he works and my visiting teachers keep connected with me via FB in a Private Message. It works for them and works for me too... so would a telephone call. It's all about the contact, making you feel like there is someone out there that cares, checking up to see if there is a need, and bringing a spiritual message. -
It's a dance that started long ago.... the monster mash.

preparing from visit from home/visiting teachers
AngelMarvel replied to mormonS's topic in General Discussion
I wouldn't worry about the house...but, since you are just clean the part that can be seen... like the living room. Close all doors to other parts of the house. I've never had a visiting or home teacher ask to use the bathroom and I have never asked to use the bathroom at their homes... not to say they won't. They are there to give you a message and show that they care about you. They are not there to eat or drink. I always offer the home teachers food because they 100% of the time have shown up either while I was cooking or just as we sit down to eat. They NEVER have accepted. We all have busy lives so usually our visits are about 15 minutes...sometimes less. Do what YOU are comfortable doing. Don't have something that should be a good thing turn into a bad thing because you are uncomfortable. Be blessed. Angel -

Trust vs Love in marriage
AngelMarvel replied to cheezits's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
I personally don't think that "love" is really "love" without trust, respect, commitment, compassion, and a lot of other things that could bring real "love" into the relationship. We usually start out in a relationship with just a feeling that starts to grow. Sometimes we even say how much we love someone when we have only known them for a very short time... not even time enough to build trust or all those other things. That kind of love is what I would consider infatuation or puppy love. It may or may not continue on to grow and it could also last a very long time without ever moving on in the relationship. Then there is romantic love. Everything is all peachy keen and roses. But, still there may not be trust and other things involved because trust needs to build over time. You don't just meet someone today and trust them... you don't even know them to know if you can trust them. You can give them the benefit of the doubt that they are trustworthy...but you don't know that really. Trust is an earned thing. I used to tell my children... I trust you to come home at 8pm. When they didn't show up at 8pm then it may have just been a mistake... watch not working, no clock, messed up etc. But, when they didn't come home at 8pm for a number of times...it's not a mistake any longer and I didn't trust them any more that their curfew would be met. It would take a while of them coming home at 8pm until I started trusting them again. That is just really a simplistic scenario. Could it be a celestial marriage? I think with work in the marriage that trust can be built or rebuilt. That would depend on you and your spouse and how much you have invested in this marriage. I think the love fades when the mistrust comes into play, but I also thing that if you really love this person, then that love can be rebuilt. Ummmm... not sure if that made sense. I am not the best with word that I write. It all sounds great and organized in my head. -
Don't feel Mormon, not keeping the commandments
AngelMarvel replied to andypg's topic in Advice Board
I am happy to hear you joined the YSA and are feeling better about the Church. Keeping involved is a big factor in keeping the commandments. Praying for you. ©wigh -
Spiritual Experiences from Unusual Sources
AngelMarvel replied to Jenamarie's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I think that's what it was all about for me. It could have been the Bishop, a loved one, or anyone that you would never do something like that too...so why do it to anyone at all. We are supposed to love one another. -

One that I recently had was while I was driving. I am normally a very patient person, especially while driving. I drive the speed limit and follow all driving laws. So.. one day I am driving by myself over a 40 miles straight away with only a few places you can pass. I came up behind this car that was driving about 55 mph...the speed is 65 mph in this area. BUT, every time I would try to pass this person they would speed up and just as we would get to the solid yellow line that I couldn't pass they would slow down. Grrrrrr... My mind started to go in over drive with irritation because we are about into 20 miles of this now. I thought when I get the chance to pass they are going to get a piece of my mind. I was just about to revert back to my childhood when flipping the middle finger was the in thing to do when all of a sudden the spirit came upon me and I heard so clearly these words. "What would you do if you flipped off that person and it ended up being Jesus?" I got the chance to pass this person and almost couldn't look over at he car because I was afraid it would be Jesus looking back at me with my finger in the air. But, I did look and it was an elderly man... not Jesus. But, it could have been Him... I am so thankful I never did flip this person off. Now when I am driving and want to pass someone and they do that to me I think of the spirit saying that to me. I also think about it anytime someone does something that I don't like. It was a good lesson for me and a very spiritual one too. Angel p.s. I had lots of spiritual things happen in the Temple, but I feel those are sacred to me. -
