  1. ... meaning you aren't winning so you your going to take your toys and go home.
  2. About as much as I consider flossing to be in the category of doing all you can do.
  3. Uh, no. What you are saying is that YOU would think that using a crosswalk would be included in the concept of "doing all we can do". I can't think of any reason that your opinion is relevant to the reality of it all. Can you?
  4. You seriously want us to believe that God supernatural intervened by manipulating the timing and physical location of you and the missionaries just so you could chastise them. Oh brother! How's that whole busy-body, self-righteousness thing working out for you? Yeah - my thought is that they weren't speechless; they just had the courtesy to not laugh outloud at you.
  5. Many? You mean some of them were? Which ones?
  6. I don't have an opinion. Since God hasn't chosen to speak up on the matter, I trust it doesn't much matter what one believes.
  7. I see that someone has already addressed this but I chime in. You would have us believe that the one and only definition of "eternal" is the one that you prefer... eternal = no beginning. A quick check of a dictionary shows that is untrue, as does a check of John 17:3: "And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent." Obviously the author of the Gospel of John disagrees with you - for him "eternal" isn't related to having no beginning, but rather is determined by whether or not one knows God.
  8. Then I guess that depends on whether or not the parties in question all had the same clear, precise, contextual, theological language and meaning behind their writings - that is, when Joseph Smith said (according to your quote) "...and these three constitute three distinct personages and three Gods," that he meant that in a way that was contradictory to his other statement in D&C "Which Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are one God..." Is that what you think - that he meant to contradict himself? Or do you suppose that none of the writers in question were professionally trained theologians with precise concepts and language developed over thousands of years of ecclesiastical grounding behind them?
  9. Admittedly I am not following the protests very closely but I doubt the protesters are protesting modern technology and products that they themselves appreciate and use. I would hazard a guess that they are protesting the ethics of certain people and companies.
  10. I don't think so. The LDS belief in the physical nature of God comes from the First Vision - that's where the Church get's its belief. The scriptures you list are just referenced by people who seek to demonstrate that the LDS belief is not inconsistent with some (not all) scriptures found in the Bible.
  11. Guess it all depends on who you want to believe... Bruce R McConkie or Nephi, Mosiah, Alma, Moses, Joseph Smith... not to mention James, Paul, Mark, etc ..And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen. (2 Nephi 31:21) The Father, because he was conceived by the power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son--And they are one God, yea, the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth. And thus the flesh becoming subject to the Spirit, or the Son to the Father, being one God, (Mosiah 15:3-5) Now Zeezrom said: Is there more than one God? And he answered, No. (Alma 11:28-29) Now, this restoration shall come to all, both old and young, both bond and free, both male and female, both the wicked and the righteous; and even there shall not so much as a hair of their heads be lost; but every thing shall be restored to its perfect frame, as it is now, or in the body, and shall be brought and be arraigned before the bar of Christ the Son, and God the Father, and the Holy Spirit, which is one Eternal God, to be judged according to their works, whether they be good or whether they be evil. (Alma 11:44) And he hath brought to pass the redemption of the world, whereby he that is found guiltless before him at the judgment day hath it given unto him to dwell in the presence of God in his kingdom, to sing ceaseless praises with the choirs above, unto the Father, and unto the Son, and unto the Holy Ghost, which are one God, in a state of happiness which hath no end. (Mormon 7:7) And he had sworn in his wrath unto the brother of Jared, that whoso should possess this land of promise, from that time henceforth and forever, should serve him, the true and only God, or they should be swept off when the fulness of his wrath should come upon them. (Ether 2:8) For if there be no Christ there be no God; and if there be no God we are not, for there could have been no creation. But there is a God, and he is Christ, and he cometh in the fulness of his own time. (2 Nephi 11:7) Which Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are one God, infinite and eternal, without end. Amen. (D&C Section 20:28) etc
  12. That's not what all-powerful means. You are talking about uniqueness.
  13. So when you app informs the user that Elder Holland is Emotional, Kind, Intelligent, or Thrifty, Brave, and Handsome, is that to distinguish him from the others that are not Emotional, Kind and Intelligent? Is it any different than the horoscope in the paper that informs the reader that they are courteous, adventurous and that good things are a coming their way?
  14. Paul : tireless traveler, theologian, indomitable worker, prickly, hot tempered, egoistic. What does your app do... besides tell you adjectives that people on message boards suggested?
  15. You mean that you are Char Van K?
  16. Oh brother... You can read the original by Char Van Knouwenhoven (March 2011): HERE It can also be found on an internet store saying disaster preparedness items.
  17. Yes, that's true. The world's first known open heart surgery was performed by Elder Nelson in Chicago Illinois at the Provident Hospital in 1891 on a stabbing victim who fully recovered and went on to live another 50 years. Of course it goes without saying that this was several past lives ago when Elder Nelson was a Methodist and went by the name of Daniel Hale Williams. In his next incarnation, Elder Nelson became a dog musher in Gnome Alaska. As I understand it, in his next life, he expects to be the first female Creolo anchorwoman on national TV.
  18. I think you are on to something here... how about having having customers sign a long term lease with a ballon payment due at the end of year 5 that could be forgiven if the customer didn't abuse the garment. Then the Church could create a massive surveillance program consisting of web-browsing history tracking of all temple recommend holders, wire-tapping, reward payments for "report-a-parent" abuses and the like. The Church should create a surveillance team named the Garmestapo and 3% of the 10% tithe would fund the effort.
  19. You make a good point, no matter what some of the hoi polloi on this thread say.
  20. I rely on the spirit - which is the source of all truth - for all my news. All that everyone else has mentioned is merely commentary.
  21. So there was a plan and then there was an amended plan. That equals 2 plans,
  22. You're point being...? That words don't have meaning?
  23. Seriously? claim = an assertion of something as true, real, or factual
  24. What is "full endorsement by the church?" How does that compare to simple or partial endorsement. What is the source for your claim?
