When my mum and dad got married they had to fly over to New Zealand because there were no temples in Australia. When my mum was pregnant with me we went to sydney for the opening of the first australian temple (australia is about the same size as the USA) In the past 5 years we have had another 4 temples open, one here in Brisbane where i live. I worked as an usher at the Temple Open House. Noone here does not appreciate having a temple so close, because only a few years ago it was a 2 day round trip to sydney by road, or a 4 hour plane flight.

i still havent really had my questions answered regarding the differences between disfellowhip, probation and excommunication. and not every one in a common law marraige (or de facto or whatever) is excommincated so excuse me if ive never heard of it before. Besides which, i have made immoral choices myself out of wedlock and not been disfellowshiped or excommunicated. Im in a bad mood tonight so if i come off a bit harsh im sorry. kinda.

they have only been going out for 6 months and so i dont think she would be consiodered for 'common-law' marriage, besides i do noit think they have such a thing in australia. question though... what are the differences in probation, disfellowship and excommunication? by my understanding it is: Probation (formal or informal, whats the diff?) Must have regualr appts with bishop, cannot say prayers in church or partake of the sacrament, give talks etc... Disfellowship... i have no idea how this is different from probation. Excommunication, Does not hold preisthood, or baptismal and temple covenants plus everything from probation. If they want to come back to church they have to attend for a number of years before it is taken to the First Presidency and they (maybe, depending on revelation) are rebaptised. (Can excommunicated members still receive revelation?) Excommunicated members are still encouraged to attend all meetings and be as involved as possible. My Aunty on my mums side, my uncle on my fathers side and my Father in law all have been or are currently excommunicated for different matters. So this is a topic very close to me, and i have alot of questions about it.

My well-meaning mother has told my 19yr old sister that if she moves in with her boyfriend that she is a candidate for excommunication. I had never heard of this. Is this really a legitimate reason for excommunication? What other reasons are there for excommunication?

I do think some explaination of symptoms is needed, since alot of people do not understand just how dehabilitating this disorder can be. This quote is verbatim from Wikipedia - PTSD is thought to be primarily an anxiety disorder (possibly closely related to panic disorder[citation needed]) and should not be confused with normal grief and adjustment after traumatic events. PTSD may be triggered by an external factor or factors. Its symptoms can include the following: nightmares, flashbacks, emotional detachment or numbing of feelings (emotional self-mortification or dissociation), insomnia, avoidance of reminders and extreme distress when exposed to the reminders ("triggers"), loss of appetite, irritability, hypervigilance, memory loss (may appear as difficulty paying attention), excessive startle response, clinical depression, and anxiety. It is also possible for a person suffering from PTSD to exhibit one or more other comorbid psychiatric disorders; these disorders often include clinical depression (or bipolar disorder), general anxiety disorder, and a variety of addictions. Symptoms that appear within the first month of the trauma are called Acute stress disorder, not PTSD according to DSM-IV. If there is no improvement of symptoms after this period of time, PTSD is diagnosed. PTSD has three subforms: Acute PTSD subsides after a duration of three months. If the symptoms persist, the diagnosis is changed to chronic PTSD. The third subform is referred to as delayed onset PTSD which may occur months, years, or even decades after the event.

wow, a skunk! cool. I looked after a huge echidna once. only for a day then i transported it to the home where it was going to be rehabilitated. Native wildlife are illegal to keep as pets unless you have special training and are rehabilitating them for the wild. When my baby gets older i am joining wildcare, and australian organisation with volunteers to care for and rehabilitate aussie wildlife. Galahs, Magpies, cockatoos, wallabies, flying foxs'. etc... i look forward to it. http://www.wildcare.org.au/

i love that this prophecy has come true. Alot of people do not accept the Book of Mormon as the word of God, because they believe only in the Bible and that there is no other scripture.

i love the spoon theory. I am making my husband and family read it. I have a hard time with simple things like hygeine. So many of my spoons are used up on my baby, and there are none left for me!

This is so true, and applies very much to my life right now, thank you for sharing

Medication was one thing at one point that i simply HAD to take because the anxiety was so unbearable. Therapy also to get down into the nitty gritty and accept and move on - this last part i am still struggling with. This is a great topic for me and i look forward to reading other peoples thoughts and gospel perspectives on this.

The following comes from the 'pearl of great price commentary' by Milton R Hunter and i thought it was particularly applicable to this thread. "In Moses 5:24 (For from this time forth thou shalt be the father of his lies; thou shalt be called Perdition; for thou wast also before the world.), the Lord told Cain that "thou shalt be called Perdition." Why should Cain become Perdition? He committed murder, but there have been thousands and thousands of murders committed since his day and God has not pronounced there murderers sons of Perdition. The answer to this question lies in the fact that Cain must have held the Holy Priesthood, because the Pearl of Great Price account infers that the Lord appeared unto him. At least it is certain that he recieved direct communication from the heavens and talked with the Lord. On this subject, Elder Joseph Fielding Smith said: "No doubt he held the Priesthood; otherwise his sin could not make of him Perdition." "When a man receieves the Holy Priesthood after the Order of the Son of God, he receives it with an oath and a covenant. The oath and covenant is that God promises him exaltation in his Kingdom, even eternal life in celestial glory, on condition that he magnifies his calling and obeys all the principles and ordinances of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In the words of the Son of Man: All that my Father hath shall be given unto him. And this is according to the oath and covenant which belongeth to the Priesthood. Therefore, all those who receive the Priesthood, receive this oath and covenant of my Father, which he cannot break, neither can it be moved. But whoso breaketh this covenant after he hath received it, and altogether turneth therefrom, shall not have forgiveness of sins in this world nor in the world to come - Doctrine and Covenants 84:32-41; 91:3 This modern revelation throws much light upon the gravity of Cains crimes and the reasons for his becmoing Perdition." there is more to this, but i will type it later, because i have to go...
