Open House announced for Tijuana, Mexico Temple
David13 replied to pam's topic in Church News and Events
I was planning on going on Thursday. I have to go to the doctor on Thursday. I then planned on Tuesday. I have to go for chemotherapy on Tuesday now. So now I'm planning next Tuesday. dc -
No, he has not. He is not on our side in this. He is on their side. dc

I don't understand how young people can get into debt. When I was your age, I worked full time and went to school full time, all year around. So not only did I not have debt but I had cash on hand. I also had a girlfriend whom I married. I think the best advice is there for you. Work, spend no money, no internet, no tv, no cell phone, no car, no texting, no "hanging out" with "friends", no "concerts" unless they are free, no "clubs", nothing. Live like a monk or a priest in the monastery. And pay off the loans. Then don't stop. Earn and save the money for your mission. And pay your own way. You will end up a better man for it. And you will learn lessons on frugality and sensibility that will serve you, and your wife and kids and family well for the rest of your life, and also on your mission. Because your mission will not be a picnic. It will be a full time, no pay job. dc

And they will get worse, and they will begin to occur here. The only slight difference is that there ARE armed citizens here who will shut some of them down fast. But not all of them. dc
-
No guess. Just fact. They will. They just are not set up for the size of event they next want to stage. BTW, have you ever heard of the World Trade Center? dc

Why? You ask why? Doriette, you are asking your question to the wrong people. None of us do those type of things. dc

Two important things to look at here that the extremely biased and prejudiced NPR would never reveal, is that almost all of the shootings and killings you are hearing about there in their "statistics" are not legally owned, registered guns. They are illegal guns, in use by people who are PROHIBITED by federal law from owning guns. So the truth that you miss here is that we citizens who CHOOSE to carry a gun can and should be able to do so to defend ourselves and our families from those PROHIBITED persons who have guns, because none of the governmental agencies here can nor will do that, not even by taking the guns away from those prohibiited persons. Lastly, in your first paragraph, you say that you would feel most safe in a place where NO GOOD GUYS have guns and ONLY THE BAD GUYS have guns. Does that not sound as perverse to you as it does to me? dc

You mean the Liar In Chief said something? dc

It is the will of Allah ... That's what they say, isn't it? dc

I believe your dream to be a simple dream of lust. You are young and looking for a mate. For some reason you have fixated on this girl and pursuing the relationship could be the worst thing you ever do. In your dream, is she alive or dead? She may be dead and thanking you for supporting her, to the grave. When some of the posters here talk about honor killings, they are not joking. Even here in the USA they carry those out. How many girl friends have you had? I suspect this is the first one. She is exotic, something different, something unusual. All that can easily stimulate a young man's lust. But it would be a serious mistake to pursue it. There are far better criteria to use to select an eternal mate. dc

It would be depressing, or funny or something if there wasn't so much pathetic truth to it. dc

The biggest number with a name: history in the making!

What? Is that where the national debt is now? dc -
Thanking the Police and Firefighters too

They get a paycheck, you know. I'd like to thank all the good Samaritans amongst the good citizens and tax payers, and tithe payers of this world. Thanks to them, thanks to all the good ones who do helpful things every single day of the year and don't get paid for it. Some don't even leave their name so that we know just who did the good deeds. dc -
I don't feel like we're in a cult. I feel like we're in a wonderful church. dc

Thanks for the offer on the web link. I'll pass. No thanks for me. I'm out. dc

I was thinking that yes, maybe God does vent. Volcanos. But that actually would be the just the earth venting. As for destroying the wicked, the evil, I think it's unfortunate that God doesn't do it more often. I would be happy if he did. Do any of you remember Hank Williams. When he sang Ramblin' Man. What did he sing, "or I'll blow my stack." How about a little musical interlude here to show the good nature of this thread. You know, this is all part of why I long haul ride a motorcycle. True country music. dc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rq3S6sgtywo

Or how about one of the most productive vents/speeches ever by Dr Susan Gratia Hupp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sEYGcXSmpQ Or just about anything Ted Nugent says. dc

I do. I have to disagree with you partly, here. I agree, yelling, screaming, etc., is not the way to do it. But remember Jack Webb? How someone would talk about how committing some crime was ok? And he would say, "Well, let me tell you ... " and he would not yell or scream but he would state the case? In similar fashion, I have heard attorneys and politicians not yell and scream, but vehemently state their case, vent, as it were, and I think it's very important to do so. To stand up for righteousness, for what's right, for the difference between right and wrong, for the victim, the real victim, not the poor criminal who "din doo nuffin". But the real victim. And to do so in no uncertain terms. No, not profanity. Look up some of Jack Webb's soliloquys or who was it in Julius Caesar. The one who says "and Brutus is an honest man", etc. The one who questions the stabbing. Or, don't you recall after having done so, if done politely, but agressively, someone saying "feel better now?" dc

Well, maybe politics. Or gun control. dc

Bishop submissions rejected by the First Presidency
David13 replied to clwnuke's topic in General Discussion
Well, it's like they say, God knows your sins, maybe the church does too. I mean, how do they know if you are active or not? Are they somehow taking attendance records at Sacrament Meeting? I suppose I would want to know. To be sure it was not some false information or something. I don't have to worry, tho'. I have a beard and I'm not married, so I'm categorically out of consideration. Even if I get married, I probably won't shave the beard. dc -
You are missing something in my post, aren't you? dc

Folk Prophet I'm one of those sheep. I'm one who needs to be brought closer to Christ. I'm one seeking that eternal life. So yes I do go to all those activities, for me. I need to go. And I need to go and do the service for others, for them. Which benefits me. Who knows, maybe you are one of the sheep too. dc

You are popular. It would appear they all like you. That's better than the other possible side of that coin. However, your husband needs to talk to the Bishop to get more free time. But they will still ask 'where were you' any time you are not there. They do that 'cause they like you and they want to see you. You just have to explain to them like you did to us here. That you needed to take some time off to do the things you need to do. dc

A whole lot of it is just garden variety vandalism or stupidity. We had our windows broken 5 times in the law offices. On the fifth occasion, what with a donut shop across the street, the cops happened to see the guy break the window at 3 a.m.. These were $1,000 windows. Somebody who didn't like one of the attorneys suing him. He ended up paying for the windows. The Islamic center had their big screen tvs stolen, they had a bunch of them inside and outside the center, I suppose like they have at Temple Square. They also had excellent security cameras in color all over. The cops recognized the thieves on sight. However, an attorney was shot to death outside his house in one of the best neighborhoods here and there has been no arrest. Again the prime suspect was someone the attorney sued. He had made threats, but they haven't got the necessary evidence yet. You are right about the "politically correct" with the hate talk. They create the atmosphere. But, if anyone stands up for what is right, against evil, of course the evil will object to it. And take action. dc
