Heard The " Skinny " On Walmart?
Annabelli replied to StrawberryFields's topic in General Discussion
You are right that they are addressing healthy eating. Most Americans do like Walmart. I do like the fact that Walmart has a clean restaurant and clean bathrooms and that they clean their floors every night. And like you said, they do need to improve their produce dept. They were having trouble with gnats on their tomatoes. I noticed that the gnats were eating their way out of the tomatoes and it was not just as if it was a swarm of gnats attracted to the tomatoes. Since I showed that to a store manager, the problem stopped. (We all know that worms eat their way out of apples so finding a worm in a perfect apple does not mean it ate it's way in. If the store manager had not watched the gnats coming through the tomato skins, I would probably have been coined an idiot.) I'm still not going to pay $6 for a bologna sandwich. I don't pay $6 for a hamburger. I use buy one/get one free coupons. -

Amnesty International is probably involved in many of these cases. And a good place to get a background in helping with relatives in these matters. -

Just don't buy the produce, theirs is the worst!!!!! Personally, I think that if you're going to stop and eat at Wally World, Subway would overall be a healthier choice than McD's. I applaud their tiny attempt to be better. Where do you think WW's Subway get's their produce? If you have ever had to keep the grease drippings from red meat and store it in the refrigerator, you would understand what the big fuss is all about with the hamburger industry. It turns to very hard lard in the refrigerator and you wonder just how much was in the burger. (red meat drippings are sometimes used in baking...if you were wondering.) I don't have any pros/cons about Subway & any other fast food chain/restaurant. I just think that people's first choice should be eating at home. If you are on the run, get a thermal bag and pack a lunch. What's the difference in eating in the car or picnic park and ordering food at the drive-thru or eating where there is a kid's play area? -
Traveler: Your original post is not something new and has been used in all forms. Right now it is used with Indigo Studies and Programs.

I absolutely detest paying $6 for a 6" sub aka bologna sandwich. I don't care if it does come with chips and a soda. (the cookie is extra!). There's enough lunch kits on the market that no one should have to eat at Subway. If you are going to be at Walmart that long, buy groceries. -
prisonchaplain: Just so it does not confuse you. All of the paid clergy who were hired in 1965 (+/- 5 yrs) are retiring. Thus there is once again many employment openings for paid clergy. This has nothing to do with prophets. But it did cause a lot of confusion in the 60's when the prior generation retired.

CrimsonKairos: You have never responded to post #16. Would you like to know anything about him?

Okay the LDS Talk banner has Jesus bare chested. Maybe he should have been January. Is it okay to have half naked pictures of Jesus? (it's pretty obvious that he is not on the cross.) And the artist gave him some muscle too. Why isn't Jesus wearing his red robe and white shirt on the banner?

The Ones Who Walked away from Omelas: Could the child in this story depict "skelton's in the closets" or "dirt under the rug"? Family shame? The city of Omelas being an illusion or disillusion. This story could cover any and all situations that a person might encounter to include career choices. The child in the story just seems symbolic of deception or falsehood. Like so many authors, Le Guin leaves us to ponder the results of those who walked away.

Our understanding of Truth is most often talked of in terms of color. While white is reserved for God, black is compounded to include all the colors of the universe. Most people can consider truths in hew of their beliefs. I think Truth falls in the concept of learning "one line at a time." I believe that as we build a testimony, we are able to accept more Truth.

Thanks. I was afraid I might have to have the revival tent lot mowed!

I should also add that this is a form of self hypnosis. And that is to also add without a guide or psychiatrist.

I have read this exercise before and it is usually in psychic books. It is a very dangerous exercise and has led me to places that I would not have otherwise like to have been. It does not promote religious spiritual awareness.

Do you think you could get me a discount on ISBN's? Out of eighteen of Le Guin's books, my library does not have that one. But I think that I'll read "Fish Soup" again.

Thanks! I enjoy your posts too. It's one thing to disagree, but we should be able to discuss them without insulting each other or take offense too easily... otherwise, why are you coming to a forum such as this? Why is there such a controversy about women ministers in the Methodist Church since they have had their priviledge for almost thirty years. What example has that Church set and are all the women in the Methodist Church equal to those who have become ministers?

I look forward to your review about his Christian mythologies and the dark ages. He certainly has written many science fiction works.

I can remember going to the drive-in movies in the early 60's and like all has said it was fun. But when crime took over, we stopped going. The movies that I remember seeing at the drive-in's were John Wayne, Sean Connery...007's, and Bob Hope/Bing Crosby. When was it...maybe late 60's when the TV networks started airing movies on TV. We have one of those cable diner's here and a couple of years ago it was sold. The new owners added a dining room building and stucco'd the whole structure. There are a lot of restaurants that hang pictures of the original business back when. Some of them rebuilt because of fire, tornado's, etc. Always makes interesting conversation when you are waiting for your order.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Streets_of_Ashkelon Have any of you read this science fiction story about an atheist scientist, a missionary and some natives.
-
We have a missionary in our ward now who looks like Clark Kent. Loose those glasses and he could be in the 2009 calendar. I wonder if they have been made aware of this calender? Will we get a calendar for the library?

The way you keep talking about your husband's home, you do not live there. Why? -
I waited until my son came home and asked him about the fifth one. Yes he was in our ward. Not acutally but visited twice that I remember when they switched out. He was in my home once and we had Thanksgiving Dinner with him and three other Missionaries. We always ask what their plans are when they return home.
