  1. Yup,Do you know the Article of Faith that this replies to? 8) We believe the aBible to be the bword of God as far as it is translated ccorrectly; we also believe the dBook of Mormon to be the word of God. This is the position stated in scriture regarding your question. My personal opinion? I believe for the most part, the Bible is pretty close, but that some parts have been fiddled with. I believe the Book of Mormon to historical, where moral can be derived from the contents of the scripture. It is very nice to read. It is not like the Bible were there are literary sections dealing with philosophy, proverbs, and psalms. Nibley pointed out where there is some, but it isn't subdivided like the Old Testament. For the most part it is history and recorded sermons. One of the interesting things about the Book of Mormon is the differences in voice and method of the different writers Mormon and Moroni abridge. It is interesting to see their humanness next to their piety. Aaron the Ogre
  2. So know how to paste smilies and laughing???
  3. He doesn't think I know the answer. But I do! B) http://www.lds.org/portal/site/LDSOrg/menu...0004d82620a____ Good to know you know where to find it on the web, but what is the linked site saying?
  4. But weren't they in a bit of a paradox: don't-eat-fruit/fill-the-earth?
  5. Thank you for the reminder, indeed "ALL" would be a bit much. There is nothing of G-d that is evil. H- does not do anything that would lead his people astray.I think though, that if H- decided to or there was a reason for aliens, they could be created. Personally, I don't think they do--at least not in the way the Area 51 cultists would have us believe. What about the space rocks that have bacteria imbedded/fossilized inside? Although the eveidence is not conclussive, it does indicate that there might be alien bacteria at least. Is there anything more then bacteria borne spacerock? no idea, nor do I think it matters. Again, thank you Dr. T (as in Mr, MD, or Ph.D.?). Sincerely, Aaron the Ogre
  6. This is an interesting comment. Like I believe all things possible of G-d, I think there could be aliens. The only problem is the lack of credible evidence. Of course, the reversal is: "how can a Chr-stian insist on credible evidence?"Crazy, huh? Do I think there might be a type of costume show? No idea, but wouldn't that be a great way to keep people from looking for eternal survival? My dad believes in aliens. I tend to be skeptical since most of the evidence surrounding aliens tends to be spectacle. Aaron the Ogre
  7. So then,What is the LDS belief regarding the apostasy? Aaron the Ogre
  8. Well, lots of people are missing that other half. I wrote a nice poem about it. I'll post it in my blog tomorrow.
  9. Dude,You and PC are right, I just thought it was silly. Aaron the Ogre
  10. I think its a type of reverence for the fake g-ds some people worship.
  11. >>>>>Oh MY!<<<<<< That is beautiful. One of the best things I've ever heard!!! So, do you part those bangs, or just let them grow straight? Aaron the Ogre KIM, they are able to ignor the actuality most people in the world realize because of the layers of protection (yes men/women) they live in. What are you expecting? Practicallity from people who live in Disney World?
  12. Yeah,But who's gonna complain? Aaron the Ogre
  13. Well, according to Star Trek, there would be a great explosion, so technically no.
  14. You know what Andy,I've writing things on this board and reading for next semester all day. What you wrote is the best thing I've read all day. Good luck with your folks. Love them no matter what they say. Aaron the Ogre
  15. Once my kids are out of the house, I want to get a Browning 9m. I'll be going to the range often because I miss shooting. Two or three boxes. I do think guns are important, but I do not buy every arguement the NRA makes. I like trigger locks and waiting lists. I think a little more regulation on sales might be a good thing, but still that's a toe in the door.
  16. I'm not okay????!?:)
  17. Sure, we had that in Salt Lake with an old guy who the cops though had a gun in his pocket. They tackled him and broke his arm. Turns out the old guy just couldn't raise his hands or something like that.Pathetic. I generally like the police, but the Orem and Provo ones find some creative reason to keep their arrest numbers up sometimes. Aaron the Ogre
  18. Nah... perseverance and stronger fingertip calluses.
  19. PC,Snow is pretty smart here (I've taken a long time with the maturing bit and I'm still deciding if it really something I want), but if the canon might be open, wouldn't it be one's responsibility to investigate it? Who knows? There is a lot more that could be included in the canon beyond the LDS canon that is probably inspired as well, but Christianity has been fearful of that for some reason. There must have been one or two people in the last 2ooo years to receive revelation that is important and worth recording. I do know, being branded heretical is a problem, but you're hanging out with us aren't cha? You're already guilty of heresy by association. Aaron the Ogre
  20. But not compelling enough to think The Word could be given to live prophets in our time as well. Hmmm... Absolutely!
  21. Hi all, I apologize to all those who think this is actually an important topic. Honestly, I don't. It is kind of interesting reading the research and how it either does or does not coincide with scripture. This is all I can say of value regarding it: one day we will all find out the truth or we won't. It doesn't matter. The flood isn't a matter of exaltation, for most people today it is a nice story, an important principle, proof of G-d's power, or another example of how religionist's are ignorant extremists who are only interested in oppressing the ignorant for the purpose of power (something along those line). Overall, if the argument does not help one learn about The Nature of G-d and H-s plan for us, then it is only a trivial argument meant to belittle the supposedly ignorant who are religious. There are people who have no problem saying it never happened, and that is fine. There are people who have no problem saying it did happen and science explains it, and that is fine. There are people who have no problem saying it did happen and no explanation is necessary, and that is fine. There are people who have no problem saying it never happened, but the moral it teaches is important, and that is fine. There are people who have no problem saying it doesn't matter, but I believe in G-d anyway, and that is fine. Pushing the point (whichever one you think is important) is important, but it does not seem that the dialogue is going anywhere (on this board or not). It has been this way for a long time. People often think that it is either what science says or what scripture says. What if actuality is not as simple as either? What if the lesson of the flood was not intended for our time except to understand what the Noachic Laws are and who they apply to? Whichever, the argument here borders on the trivial. Aaron the Ogre
  22. Since I've never shot anyone, how many shells make a two year supply. In the army, I shot thousands of rounds, should I use that as sometype of threshold?
  23. Do you want to avoid going bald? then make your arguement without name-calling. I've listened to them for years too (its hard to do that with my current work/school schedule), but I have always thought that they were insulting. For example, I like Combs and dislike Hanity, but agree with Hannity and disagree with Combs. Isn't it possible to be involved in a debate without resorting to hate-speech. No arguements with the content or the message, just with the delivery. He's pretty educated about the issues and listens to the same radio shows you do, but he thinks his voice is worth nothing or that there is nothing he can do to change anything. He's wrong of course, but when he talks about these issues he sounds just like you using the same limiting/reductionist language. I think he should vote, but he refuses to.
  24. I think you are right, but this is another one of those toes in the door issues. Once they can begin regulating bullets as explosives, then they will be able to that having a gun in you home is a type of child abuse though negligence.
  25. Oh yeah, America's Most Wanted segments as well. She was pegged by an anonymous 800 call.
