  1. You know what, just go. He might change his mind, but try not to fight about it.
  2. Some Utah Family Wards (what a dumb name) have organized single's FHE groups and single's Sunday School. There are only four singles my age in my ward with children still at home and they are very nice people and we all seem to agree with the concept of raising the kids first then worry about 'take 2' in the marriage department.I like the concept, but at first, I was unhappy when I was invited to attend because I like my GD class and FHE with my kids. Joking, I've only been there once. It's just not fair.
  4. Yep, but so does Emma.Snow has the right to ask those questions, but loosing one's testimony might be more important.

    I hate Pittsburg.
  6. Big lizard burgers, mmmmm... yummy.Seriously though; one of the fun things about the scriptures regarding evolution is that G-d never left detailed descriptions of how the Earth was created other then to say: "I did it!" H- only left a statement of fact. It is then up to believe it. The scriptures, including the various creations accounts included therein are only texts of faith, not science. I like evolution (it's funny mostly) and recognize that it is constantly changing as scientists continue to explore how it all came to be. Now let's see; Noah lived only a few thousand years ago and the dinosaurs died out (smushed by a big space rock) a bunch-a thousand years ago. I don't think Noah had the chance to put them aboard or other wise he would have built a bigger boat. Aaron the Ogre
  7. Aaron! Boogie Boogie Boogie Boogie Boogie Boogie I love that boogie-woogie. BMI=Body Mass Index; a way to measure how BMI-handicapped (fat) one is. BTW, I use this term in the most generous (BMI-handicapped) of ways. One day it too will be interpreted as offensive and I will agree that it is possible to interpret the term that way. Aaron the Ogre
  8. I don't agree with how you are labeling it, however. The terminology is misleading. I do not think Latter-day Saint beliefs parallel your implication.Yes, the fall happened; an act by our mutual progenitor. I agree with Lehi's interpretation of the fall. Isn't the interesting side of the fall the redemption? I think the blessing of the fall is Chr-st's redemption of that action and his ability to wrap all the stupid, sinful things I've done, do, will do into H-s redemption through grace and love. 9. You're making BMI-handicapped jokes now too!?!Aaron the Ogre (my bmi is 36.1--I drink too much soda, but I've come down from 425lbs to 270; more to go however)
  10. Man,I agree with you, but what about the Hannity and Rush clones; they are just about as productive and intelligent. Aaron the Ogre
  11. I've always liked Euro-advertising (especially when it isn't porn). This one is nice.
  12. Emma,You make a good point here (and the ex stuff does not lower your credibility, you have mentioned belonging to the culture surrounding the church pro and con). No one needs to flayed for their feelings (even if that very flaying embodies the actual sport and ritual of the internet) and you are wrong about the "job" bit, but sometimes internet habits die hard. I know the presipice and teeter-totering, but I made a different choice than did she. I wonder what she did base her testimony on. I know what I decided to not base my testimony on. Thanks for the point you make and the method of delivery. Aaron the Ogre
  13. I think this point deserves some clarification. I have had the opportunity to read quite a few of the Chirstians from the Middle-ages (not enough to make myself a type of expert or anything), but I do not think their desire or that of the Medieval Catholic Church to be such a bad idea when it comes to the idea of unifying with G-d. There are some aspects of it that seem a little odd (if G-d has a boby and we have bodies after the resurection, then true unification cannot happen--if unification means joining the amorphous Nicene body, then isn't that putting one's self on the same level as G-d?), but the way I have taken their writing is to mean being of the same of purpose (though some of them and some experts would disagree with my interpretation) whatever that purpose it.There is nothing wrong with being unified mind, body, and spirit with eternal purpose. In my belief that G-d is a passionate being, I also believe that H- is a non-static being growing and improving (don't ask me to prove or explain improving on perfection, because I can't) and that in addition to being Our Cr-ator and that of the universe, H- is also creative and is capable of making room for many interpretations. The literature of the mystics is interesting and worth more study (after I graduate), but I do not agree with the ideoms "nuts" or "losing one's marbles" regarding what has been said, but that there is room for interpretation, particularly since most of what has been said in this discussion runs outside the theology of the LDS faith. 15. Blue, If you have recieved a witness of the truth, then I recommend you act on it. It is not very smart to base one's faith or testimony on the faith of any person other then G-d. If you have heard from H-m the church is a mistake, then maybe you should act on such advise. Personally, I have never relied on the the testimony of others regarding the truthfulness of the gospel with the possible exception of my father. As far as things changing; wouldn't life and eternity be a drag if we were stuck in a state of stasis or entropy? Anyway, I am gald for your witness. Listen to it and follow it. Aaron the Ogre

I work in Lindon, UT in a cubicle jungle with about fifty or so people in the same room. At ten this morning the air-conditioning went out, but because of some serious deadlines, we all had to stay. I was getting baked. My neighbor's thermometer read 89 degrees. Of course that's way better than being outdoors working in the sun or being in Vegas, but it was bad enough especially since corporate was in town and we had to wear business formal.Aaron the Ogre
  17. Cure for sunburn: never go outside again. Stay inside and live life in front of your monitor.
  18. Sorry... Two against one I liked the alien ear, but I like the green leaf too (maybe better in fact--it is a nice avatar[way better than a yakking pacman]). Aaron the Ogre

  20. Absolutely. Happy Forth of July.
  21. Personally, I find the Nicene Creed to be a pile of tripe and a good example of how the Gnostics railroaded Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Protestantism, and Christian Orthopraxis. G-d and The M-ssiah are perfectly apprehensible beings, physical, distinct, and passionate and sharing a common mission and interest in the exaltation of humanity. The Nicene Creed was a political document created out political necessity.I know a lot of people believe this document to be true, but this document has led to a lot of confusion regarding the nature of divinity and I am sorry it exists. 22. Dude,I love this, but I’ve lived such a past that I have to remember my own stumbling block so I’ll be able to avoid it in the future. I wish I had not stumbled in my late-teen/military years, but I did and I have been paying for that ever since. I have this saying that I use at home so much with my own teen-agers that it has become cliché: “make choices that will pay you instead of having to pay for them later.” My oldest has committed to go on his mission in January after fall semester. My daughter is a joy and so-not the clichéd LDS girl, while still being loyal to the precepts of the church that I am filled with joy when I talk to her. My youngest is still in highschool and so is caught up in that illusionary world that it is hard to keep him oriented, but he is doing a great job and had a great spring semester as his seminary-class president. I was not as wise as my children. I hope they will be able to look forward prepared for their futures instead of worried about the ghosts in their pasts like I do. Absolutely. I my ex left me and the church, but I am still a participant in the covenant of marriage and one day I will again partner with a glorious woman in this covenant. There is more to the covenants I have made with the L-rd beyond the pain of my failed marriage. Most of the covenants I have made are between H-m and me. Right on!Aaron the Ogre
