Trust me, I'm not angry . . . I'm amused by a man who refuses to use his brain.
-
Be more specific please: Are you asking about G-d's species and gender?

I did and want to let you know this discussion has nothing to do with being a Latter-day Saint or what we as a people or church believe otherwise all the evolutionists up to the Y would have been long since been exed. The doctrine of the church ignores this whole concept except in minutia because it is not important and as such is worth ignoring. Personally, I'm not that great a mormon, I love pointing out when members actually are getting distracted by doctrine that lies outside out faith and trust me, the question of whether or not evolution is accurate or not is way outside the ken of our doctrine and believing in it or not will not hamper one from salvation. Who cares? Yea/nay evolution is irrelevant and unimportant.

Occam's razor: why would H- waste H-s time doing so? Evolution is the simplest answer and the one that makes the most sense and still does not exclude G-d as the Cr-ator.The scriptures only make a series of claims, they do not outline a process. G-d says H- did it -- and H- did. What G-d does not say is how H- did it. Why? Because it doesn't matter. Evolution is great and interesting, but in the long and short of salvation it is not that important -- especially if you are LDS. Let EVs and Catholics break their heads over it. As a Latter-day Saint, there are other things to do other than worry about the patently pointless.

So President Eyring's father was a fool for pursuing the sciences? What about the GAs who are doctors, scientists, educators, and engineers? Are they fools, too?Anyone who thinks science trumps faith or the inverse obviously refuses to use the brains gifted to him/her by G-d. Sometimes it is through science we understand G-d and what H- is saying to us.

Don't piss off people with more guns than you. Don't get involved with politics, its boring. Don't smoke too much dope, unless you like long talks with your bishop. Don't laugh at your teenagers dating errors to their faces. They won't get it and they'll get a complex. Don't care about anything except G-d and H-s imperitives too much. Do laugh a lot. Do get involved with local institutions like sports or the high-school poetry club. Do drink loads of water, but do eat as many cheeseburgers as possible. Do laugh with you teenagers at all the stupid things you did as a teenager. Do care about the people surrounding you and remember they are G-d's imperatives.

Huh . . . what?!?

Hmmm . . . Talmage disagrees with you. I think I do to. Perfected is a past-tense word and is used most often by GAs to describe Chr-st. Perfected implies one who has gone through the perfection process. Was Chr-st superior to anyone who was born? Yes, but did H- ever get a cold? Did H- laugh and play and then was subsequently scolded? Yes, H- was a child at one time and had to grow physically, intellectually, morally, and spiritually. To exclude Chr-st from this would nullify the redemption.Next, the irony laden in the Four Gospels indicate H- had a sense of humor. Most modern Latter-day Saints would exclude humor from perfection. How often are we told to not make light of the scriptures, but there are sections of scripture that have dual meanings: sarcastic derision of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Last as a person from an evolved species, H- had many of the faults and weaknesses that are inherently biological. Scientists identify parts of character, personality, and behavior that are biological. As a perfected being now, H- does not have those problems, but H- did prior to crucifixion. As a member of an evolved species, I am proud of my ape ancestors and am glad they were inspired to leave the trees and invent the Ford Mustang. Imperfection and differences are to be celebrated. I am also glad that my S-vior was one of these imperfect people, who through the period of H-s life achieved what is beyond the ken of our ability: perfection.

Watch out, the mormons on the internets are apostates . . . true members are as internet conscious as the Amish.

Advice to Representatives: Don't diss Beck at Town Hall Meetings
the Ogre replied to Maxel's topic in Current Events
Look, Glenn is a dweezle. I have been following him for the last few months and think if anyone has manufactured the protests, he deserves as much of the blame as anyone. Are there people who agree with him? Yes, of course. What Beck has done is articulate what many people think and has reinforced their anger. Is he genuine? Maybe, but prolly not. He has found a great way to make money and the town-hall protests and tea-parties will only make him richer and so he encourages them. I do think the protesters have the right to protest and vent their feeling in the same way the rent-a-mobs do, but they are still being manipulated by the rhetoric of a man making a buck. Republican/conservative astroturf = Democratic/liberal rent-a-mobs These groups are part of the democratic process, but because they are does not mean they aren't being manipulated. Beck is the conservative equivalent of Jesse Jackson and about as interesting. -
I don't know if I could do that. You are better man there Charlie Brown.I don't think fighting about it is good either. Maybe later when your children are interested in being rebellious, they will think being LDS is a good option. Who knows?

My extended family won't come to my temple wedding.
the Ogre replied to annamaureen's topic in Advice Board
I suppose the only advantage is that now you know who will be supportive while you are married. It is always nice to know "who is holding the knife" when involved in family relationships. I am sure you have a very clear understanding now of your family instead of having to wait for something catastrophic to happen.Don't cave. It will only empower the manipulative in your family. -
Personality Types (everyone should take this) ^^

Interracial Marriage and Celestial Glory
the Ogre replied to the Ogre's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I think the church will apologize about it eventually. Enough people think they should and eventually their prayers will be answered.I, however do not think an apology is all that important right now. I think a bit more clarification by the church on this subject and other subjects where arcane quotes by long dead GAs are being used out of context would be useful and helpful. I also think the church needs to pull in the reins on some of the apologist bilge being published by DB. Maybe it is time for Mormon Doctrine to finally disappear from the shelves. Maybe DB could have a sequel published that will modernize Mormon Doctrine and maybe shape it so it is a bit more flexible. The church needs something to clarify some of the fuzzies in the church. The bigots who use old quotes from dead GAs need to be brought up to speed in a hurry. -
I don't think this is that big a deal. We are living in a recession. These programs were designed for when things like this happens. People have lost jobs all over the country and even with the economic-environment improving, new jobs are not magically appearing. People want the government to do something because it is obviously capable of doing more. Some people want the government to do something because they feel the entire problem was caused by the government. Do I think the recession was caused by the government? Partly. Do I think the government is making it worse? Yes. Do I think the government has to do more? Yes. Do I think the government is screwing-up because they are spending too much money on the capitalism that is supposed to be so superior? Yes. I think capitalism is a failure. I think our economic situation will be worse in two-three years because no-one is willing to take risks that will actually do something instead of propping up a failed do-nothing-we-are-fine status-quo.
-
All true, but where is the alternative. Capitalism obviously is not the answer. Hang on to that propaganda boy if you can't come up with an alternative. Doing nothing has destroyed the opportunities of the poor.Do you think there are no other options other than socialism and capitalism? I am very afraid. There has to be another option other than Communism. If you can not think of anything better than capitalism, it is obvious that creativity is dead and the markets deserve to crash and the English and American systems deserve to fail. Evolution leaves behind failures. Capitalism is dying and you say socialism is a trap, fine: come up with something better. Turn off Rush and Hannity and use your brains.

I agree, but he is doing better than the no-plan republicans.
-
I don't agree with this at all. Sin is not some perpetual motion machine. Eventually sin grinds the sinner down until spiritually the person is in a state of entropic spirituality, spiritually comatose, or spiritually dead. In my opinion, this spiritual death affects the rest of the individual as well, intellectually and physically.

Oh, the joys of being a moderate.

Before us...
the Ogre replied to Koizito's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
Nope, in fact there are other atheists on this board. They communicate on all sorts of subjects including atheism. There have even been a few LDS atheists. My question for you is: why do people who have written off G-d, care if other people still do?It's an interesting question because so many atheists believe erroneously that a belief in G-d precludes reason, logic, and compassion. There are some who feel every religious person is an much an extremist as the abortion-doctor assassin. -
Naughty Naughty, but very funny.

ps.. Michael didn't have a body until he was born as Adam. Sorry the practical answer always wins.
-
Yeah, I'm over 18 and am definitely not old enough for mature topics. I also do not want to hear about women my age being nude. I think everyone over 40 should be required to wear clothing while showering. Nudity over forty is unethical and immoral.About the statue? I don't mind. It's a rock. I have some naked rocks lining my driveway. Should I dress those?

DUDE! You are totally an angelic artist!!! Is this Michael or Adam? Oop, it has to be Adam. Michael didn't have a body, so how could he need glasses.

What causes people to be extremly ant-mormon?
the Ogre replied to Elena_Villanueva's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I prefer to ask: why do you care? I'm not bothering you. If I am . . . look someplace else.I understand the value of criticism. I think it only improves the final product, but I question the extremism and the vitriol. I might not be one to speak. I trade in vitriol, but that doesn't mean the nicer people around do. Whatever. I understand some of it. One of my earlier posts on this thread illustrated who I thought was an anti-mormon and who wasn't. I do think Snow's earlier question needs to be answered by someone: where are the LDS sponsored Anti-Evangelical Ministries, websites, and publishing houses? CES and the MTC don't count in my opinion. They are too general in their approach and do not point out the fallacies (if there are any) in other religions.
