Why is marriage so important if Jesus didn't get married
anatess2 replied to TilKingdomCome's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
You don't believe that we have to be married to be in the highest level of the Celestial Kingdom? If so, then you believe that you can be God and not qualify to be on the highest level of the Celestial Kingdom? Just trying to follow your logic here. By the way, just to be clear on my word usage. I used "we" as "LDS" and not just "you and me" in the previous post. Was I mistaken to think that the LDS believes that you have to be married to attain the highest level of the Celestial Kingdom? I used You on this post to refer to you - TFP - and not you as in "LDS besides me". By the way... you were quoted as saying you can be "partially" saved and not married. There's no such thing as "partially" saved. Salvation is that process that makes you clean. No unclean thing can enter heaven, therefore we needed Christ's Atonement. We can't be partially clean. It's either your sins are forgiven or they're not. The Atonement is made at our baptism and confirmation. At that point, when we covenant to follow Christ, we are saved. Anything we do beyond that is for our exaltation. And that includes marriage.- 304 replies

TFP. To be GOD, one must be married. That we believe. You have to have an Eternal Companion to be on the highest level of the Celestial kingdom. Christ is God. He was God before he volunteered to become mortal on Earth. Therefore, I believe that he already has an Eternal Companion in the same manner that I believe there is a Heavenly Mother who is the Father's Eternal Companion. Christ, as God, volunteered to go through mortal probation to atone for our sins. This process of becoming mortal did not cause him to lose his Godhood. Therefore, he remained sealed to his Eternal Companion. Now, you might task, how did the 3 persons of the Godhead attain Godhood? Did they go through mortal probation prior to becoming God and then Jesus volunteered to go through it again for us? That we do not know. We are told that as man is, God once was. That tells me that the 3 persons in the Godhead progressed to be God. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the 3 persons went through the exact same template for their Plan of Happiness through a mortal probation and had a Savior to learn to be God. Their Plan of Happiness may have been learned in a different manner. This earth was made for US. The Father chose this Plan for us. Therefore, Jesus executed this Plan of Salvation as the path for us. We, the children of Christ, are taught to perform the ordinances necessary for our salvation as well as sealings as mortals here on earth. But we are also told there are many worlds. We, earthlings, are not the only spirits in the universe.- 304 replies

The other ordinances are not the ordinance of Salvation. The other ordinances are ordinances of exaltation. Baptism and Confirmation are the saving ordinances. The partaking of the Sacrament as Christ has demonstrated also is a renewal of those covenants. It is completely consistent that Christ demonstrates the ordinances that will qualify us for His Atoning sacrifice.- 304 replies

TFP, Christ is Christ and is God because he is ONE with the Father. Yes, Christ could have said No. If He would have chosen that, then He wouldn't be God. That's the basis of Free Agency - that Christ choses to be one in Will with the Father freely. That's why He is God.- 304 replies

Uhmm... I think this is stretching it. The first pages of the Book of Mormon does state that there is only ONE God. I tend to see this Oneness as literal - which includes all its qualifications as well as its Will.- 304 replies

He did not need to get baptized. He doesn't need salvation. He got baptized to fulfill all righteousness. That means, he got baptized because it is the ordinance required for our salvation - being baptized and confirmed by the Holy Ghost as happened to Christ - God himself confirmed him after his baptism. Eternal marriage is not necessary for our salvation. It is necessary for the highest level of the Celestial Kingdom which is waaaaay beyond salvation.- 304 replies

He is not an exception to the conditions of mortal probation. But as God, he doesn't have to do certain things to qualify for eternal consequence. Basically, he didn't stop being God just because he volunteered to become man so that he has to go through the process to become God again. And yes, this is all speculative.- 304 replies

Sure. But not all good intentions lead to hell. I hardly think that saying USmerica is so rude as to lead LeSellers to hell. So yeah, that "quotable quote" is just another quote that has the words "good intentions" but hardly applies to anything we're talking about.

Am I the only one that think Jesus doesn't need to do anything that are required of us anymore as he is already God and so he is already exalted? Am I also the only one that think that Eternal Marriage is a requirement to be God as to be God one has to be exalted? I didn't think this speculative conclusion would be so rare.- 304 replies

It goes for a lot. It's why a lot of foreigners don't get killed in the Philippines even if they come off as rude.

I'd rather he didn't stop saying USmerican. I say to Lehi... You be you, man. I get you. You don't have to conform to my idea of good behavior after you took the bother to explain your sincere intent. I need to change how I react to you. There'd be a time when my idea of good behavior doesn't match Lehi's. It would be awesome if I can be me too. We can't all be apples. But then it's great to be a mango.

But then, the idea that what man is, God once was can be interpreted to mean they've been through their period of progression from the level we are now. Whether that was through mortality or some other execution of a Plan of Happiness, I believe that to be exalted, let alone to be God, requires an eternal companion - in the same way that we believe there is a Heavenly Mother.- 304 replies

So, I'm thinking about this and my first thought was... Jesus is God before the earth was formed. Right? Or am I wrong on that? Because, I'm thinking, if he is God, then he would have been already married. Right?- 304 replies

That's not the curriculum and they don't use the word sex, they use the word gender. The curriculum is this: -

Or girls... bad girls bad girls. Sure does give a strange meaning to that song now. Hah hah. -
http://www.lifezette.com/quickzette/trans-student-wins-girls-track-field-championship/ Note: The only difference between Wangyot (the track star who identifies as a woman) and a man is his feelings. He has the physical attributes of a man including the flat chest, the muscle mass, and the private parts. So, Mark Steyn went on the radio and said that his son is fit to be tied. His son has a better time than any single one of those women and Wangyot. But they won't allow him to compete in the girl's track because he doesn't feel like a girl... Mark Steyn's conclusion: "America is being bullied. It's not about bathrooms. That's what's totalitarian about it. It's about making you live with the lie that a man who feels like a woman is a woman." He also mentioned that Jessica Lange was told once that she looks like Caitlyn Jenner. So he asks how the Feminists of the 60's and 70's who fought hard for Women's Rights would feel if they were told that after 40 years of all their hard work they end up with Caitlyn Jenner with all his male bits as Woman of the Year and now Wangyot with all of his male bits as the Track and Field Champion. And you wonder why kids today are so confused... P.S. In the State of Washington, Health Education in Kindergarten now includes Gender Identity. The objective is so that by 3rd grade, children can now self-identify with their correct gender.

Well, destruction is what they're after, right? I mean, they think we're causing global warming, er, climate change, cage gorillas and orcas even kill them for our entertainment, babies are parasites... I wouldn't be surprised if LGBT is actually just a front for a human extinction project. -

Sure. But the doctrine on Eternal Families was restored. It is necessary for our exaltation. One would think that as the restoration of the doctrine of Pre-mortal existence came with the restoration of new books it would make sense that the restoration of the doctrine of Eternal Families would restore Jesus's own marriage if he had one.- 304 replies

In my mind this is related to what you said, but when I read it again it sounded like it doesn't. I was gonna cancel the post but then I thought maybe it really is related... Anyway... I worked at grocery store pricing and learned that grocery stores lose money everytime they sell a jar/tub of Gerber baby food. But they continue to sell Gerber baby food. These items are simply to get customers in the door. Also, the cost of shoplifting is worked into the price of goods. So, everybody ends up paying for a shoplifter's gain.
