  1. Here's your consolation prize. A good thing just for you.
  2. I already explained the assault weapons ban. The NRA is not opposed to background checks. I don't know what etc. is... I don't know what you consider duping. He's never claimed to be ideologically conservative. He describes himself as common sense conservative. He is a New Yorker, he's never claimed otherwise. He has been registered Republican most of his life but he has made no secret of his disagreements of Republican platforms in the past, especially on Trade and Foreign Policy, so much so that he registered Independent and even registered Democrat in 2001 to change the makeup of Congress to control Bush. 2 of his kids are Republican, 2 are Independent. Trumpers, Trumpists, etc., know this and it is one of the reasons that he is the Republican nominee. That's what a lot of the people who vote for him want. That's why he won all of the congressional districts of places like Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Delaware, etc.
  3. I wanna be Candace Payne's best friend....
  4. Donald Trump is no backwoods guy, he'll be the first to tell you. When Hillary Clinton did a photo op at a NYC subway and got laughed at for having trouble with the card reader, Trump said, I don't need to ride the subway to connect with New Yorkers. I have a driver that takes me places. That said, he sent his boys hunting and fishing with grandpa to keep them out of trouble. They loved it so much that as adults they would sneak out before sunrise to go hunting/fishing before they show up to work. On Eric's bachelor party, his brother who was also his best man nixed the Manhattan party and instead took all of Eric's high-society friends fishing in Alaska.
  5. In a recent statement detailing 11 possible replacements for the late Justice Antonin Scalia, Trump mentioned Latter-day Saint and BYU law professor Thomas R. Lee as "representative of the kind of constitutional principles I value." https://www.ldsliving.com/BYU-Professor-on-Donald-Trump-s-Short-List-for-U-S-Supreme-Court/s/82185
  6. His only 180 on this list is pro-choice to pro-life. He had a personal experience where a friend of his planned to abort the child, he supported her, and things happened that made her change her mind and the child grew up to be one of the brilliant minds in the Trump Organization. He's not anti-gun. He is a lifelong member of the NRA and a conceal carry permitted citizen of New York City - one of the toughest gun laws in the country since the 80's. His sons are avid hunters with Don Jr. going on his first hunt when he was only 5. Willie and Phil Robertson held a contest on who was the better hunter.., Ted Cruz or Donald Trump. Don Jr. stood in for his father and Phil conceded to Willie stating that Don Jr. can give the Robertsons a run for their money on target shooting. Back in the 90's, the issue on assault weapons came up and Trump approved of the ban, he stated it in his book. He changed his position on it after learning that there's really no way of legislating a definition for "assault weapons" that makes any sense without trampling on the 2nd amendment. This is the ONLY position that he has held that was not in line with the NRA. Last week, the NRA endorsed him. The NRA hasn't endorsed anybody prior to October in the 2 previous elections. Pro-tax doesn't make sense. There are no anti-tax candidates in the last 100 years. None of them has ran on the platform of abolishing taxes. And Trump has been saying since the 80's that he hires the best accountants to guarantee he does not pay more tax than he is legally required to taking advantage of every loophole possible. His tax position has been the same since the 80's. He is in favor of progressive taxation. The only candidates who don't want progressive taxation is Ted Cruz and Ben Carson (promote flat income tax) and Huckabee (promotes consumption tax). Trump's tax plan is a progressive tax with the lowest bracket at 0% and the highest bracket at 25%. He has stated something similar to this when he stood infront of Congress in the early 90's as part of an advisory group. Unlike the Democrats that promote "taxes on the rich" as a wealth redistribution system, Trump promotes higher taxes on the upper income bracket to incentivize investments. Part of his tax plan, therefore, is lower corporate taxes and capital gains taxes. His philosophy is that economy is healthier when money moves to increase productivity - money movement happens through consumption and investments. A CEO getting paid a high income is not as productive as an investor making lots of capital gains. Where he wants to increase taxes is in carried interests - people making interests through other people's money (e.g. hedge fund guys) and in import taxes from certain countries to bring productivity back to the US. The drive-by media tried to do a hit piece on him in an interview because he met with establishment Republican consultants and he stated he is open to raising the tax rate for the high income bracket. They made this sound like a liberal "tax the rich" thing where he wants to raise the taxes from today's rate. That's not what he said. What he said is he is open to increasing the 25% top bracket. Kasich's plan is 28% for the high income bracket.
  7. Yeah. I keep on tripping over the American usage of certain words. You would think after 20 years of living in 2 countries I'd figure it out...
  8. Sorry... I misunderstood you when you said " The rice sticks together in the standard manner that sushi would." to say that it is sushi seasoned because it sticks together.
  9. Yes, they could make mistakes. Except that they measured me a lot more than once already (the special size expires... I think it's every 3 years, I can't remember). Basically, I can wear these shorts on a DriSilq Petite but not on Carinessa Petite unless I special order:
  10. I special ordered my garments and the ladies at the distribution center measured me. The garments arrived at my house with the hem of the bottoms sitting 3 inches above the center of my kneecap.
  11. I agree with this. At the same time, a kid who grows up around books tend to read earlier as their curiosity gets "tickled". I read to my kids every night before bed until they could read on their own and they had floor to ceiling shelves in their bedrooms with tons of books - books waaaaay beyond their reading level... like encyclopedia and such. I grew up with a library so I just kinda felt my kids' bedrooms need a library too. So they grew up flipping books and looking at pictures and eventually reading them on their own before they started Kindergarten. For a while there, they were big on dinosaurs and so I took home dinosaur books I happen to see at flea markets and yard sales and such. And one of the dinosaur books was a Magic Tree House book and so they got into Magic Tree House... and then there was monsters and stuff so they got into bailey's school kids and it just kept going from there. One of the quirks of my house is I never say no to books... so if the library books are not enough and they want to buy one, I buy it. No questions asked. So my kids' shelves is a reflection of their unique personalities... the 14-year-old's shelves are filled with the classics and RA Salvatore and Star Wars and James Patterson stuff. The other kid's shelves are full of history books, guiness record books, almanacs, books about trucks, skyscrapers, biographies, political books, stock investment how-to's, real estate investments and even a set of how-things-work books including what happens to Trash... My brother also has the same thing at his house - the kids have shelves full of books in their bedrooms. But one kid doesn't like to read much. He likes watching it on TV... so his book reports for school are books he has seen on the screen and read afterwards. He only reads books if he is required to.
  12. Becca is right... Some styles have sizes that fit better. As far as my personal experience with different styles, the DriSilq sits shorter on my leg than the Carinessa. I can wear DriSilq with my cut-offs (probably because it rides up when I move around and has a curl to the bottom of it) but the Carinessa goes to the top of my knee and stays there, so I can't wear anything shorter than capris. So, I special ordered my garments. I'm five-foot-nothing tall...
  13. WHOA! I've never seen this thing before! I wouldn't mind trying it out!
  14. Japonico rice (commonly called in the US as sushi rice) is a sticky short grain rice. This is the kind of rice used for sushi because it sticks together pretty good. Jasmine rice (an aromatic long grain rice) is the common rice Filipinos prefer but it's not as sticky as Japonico, but will still stick if made a bit on the wet side. In any case, sushi is rice (japonico or jasmine or any other rice) seasoned in sushi vinegar. Without the sushi vinegar, it's just plain rice. Make sense? But yeah, in the US, anything that is rice with some stuff shaped like sushi is referred to as sushi. But yeah... as you said, it's Houston! You gotta go and taste it and tell me what's in it! I went to this restaurant in Houston inside a grocery that I thought was middle eastern but the food I ordered tasted Asian (which is yummy!).
  15. These things are surprisingly filling. 2 of these and I'm good. 4 of these and I'm stuffed. But, it tastes so good it's hard to not eat until the buttons pop out.
  16. Uhmm... not so sure. Although some use traditionally seasoned sushi rice to make musubi, it's not as common as the thing tastes better with plain sushi rice seasoned with furikake. Normally, in a musubi, the furikake is not mixed into the rice, rather, it is sandwiched in between the spam and the rice which may not show beyond the edges of the spam in a picture. Some do mix the furikake into the rice for "decoration". A more common variation is seasoning the spam by soaking it in mirin, soy sauce, and sugar. This tastes really strong and the added saltiness of the soy sauce can be overpowering.
  17. Star Wars pajamas.
  18. Technically, it is sushi. But with a difference. It doesn't use regular sushi rice seasoning - salt/vinegar/sugar mix. Furikake seasoning is used instead.
  19. Not spicy. Spam is on the salty side. Spam musubi doesn't go well with wasabi - taste clashes.
  20. Dr. Krauthhammer, one hair shy of being a NeverTrumper has this to say about this list: "The one thing holding back people who've resisted supporting Trump, or at least the major thing, is the fear of what a Clinton presidency would do to the Supreme Court and how it would change it for a generation. Now you get a list of 11 who are quite sterling, three of them clerked for Justice Thomas, two of them for Justice Scalia, the six federal judges all appointed by George W., which means they are conservative and they are relatively young. So this is a future-looking list." He's talking to you @Vort. In addition, those who are not federal judges are State Supreme Court judges. Also, none of them are tainted with rulings that do not oppose Obamacare or tainted with rulings that limit the 2nd Amendment... or so the conservative blogosphere says. The criticisms of the list are mostly, if not all, about why so-and-so is not on the list rather than so-and-so being on the list. Now, what I find interesting about this list is that there's nobody here who are not judges. There's been a lot of talk about Ted Cruz being put on the list (I was thinking this is the best place for Ted Cruz too) but Trump decided to go with people who have a jurispudence record to hang their hat on. But then, it's up to Congress to actually pass one of these to fill Scalia's robes and a record will be tough to sell to the Democrats. So, we'll see...
  21. Carinessa is what I wear too. I'm also petite and got surgery to get woman-boobs. Somehow, having a husband with bigger boobs than me made me feel less than a woman. So yeah, I get that feeling of being less than what I am that sounds silly to a lot of people because the size of your breasts is not what makes you woman. That said... the Carinessa makes it unnecessary for me to wear a bra even when jogging. So, I'm a convert and my first time wearing garments I was 3 weeks away from delivering my baby so I was bigger than Shamu... so sizing garments was a challenge. Anyway, I finally had the baby and got regular size garments and realized that most of my closet didn't look/feel good with garments. But, I was determined to wear my garments as my outward expression of my personal covenant with God... so I spent some weekends taking everything out of my closet. Everything. This includes day clothes, house clothes, going out clothes, working out clothes... every single scrap of clothing I had in there... out the closet and onto my bed. I then went through every single one and decided if I want to keep it or get rid of it. If it goes good with garments, I kept... if not, it went to the get rid of box (even ones that were modest and covers garments - if it doesn't feel or sit right with my garments, out they went). After the last piece of clothing was sorted, I ended up with less than 1/4 of my closet left to keep. But that was fine... I had enough to last a week. After that, when I get money, I go buy me an outfit... I try them on in the fitting room with my garments. Anyway, I have lots of stuff that are super cute and nice and sexy, even to my ex-runway-model husband's eyes... that works awesome with the garments. And that includes my Star Wars pajamas I got from Wal-mart for $8.99. They are super cute with a nice cut for the shirt that curves on the waistline and cap sleeves making it very feminine so my 2 boys wouldn't have the desire to swipe it... it looks and feels so feminine that I even wore the pajama shirt out in public... on a shopping trip to Wal-mart. LOL. Maybe you need one of those closet-overhaul days... we women can use those days at least once in our lives.
  22. P.S. If you want to make one it is very easy if you get these tools/ingredients. Amazon is a good place to get them. It's a popular dish in my parties with the non-Asian folks second only to the lumpia. It is filling and very cheap! You need: 1.) A rice cooker: 2.) Rice (sushi rice is best but I make mine with Jasmine rice because my family eat Jasmine rice daily and I buy Jasmine rice in 25lb sacks). 3.) Spam (the low-sodium one is fine but we like the original kind) 4.) Furikake (any flavor you like. My kids like the nori komi or ebi fumi.) 5.) Nori sheets 6.) Spam Musubi mold 7.) Spam slicer (this is priceless... I got it as a gift from my husband - another reason he is such an awesome guy... who else could think of a gift like this?): 8.) Knife. My husband got me this sushi knife for a gift too... I can cut rice with this without needing to moisten the knife and the rice won't stick! 8.) frying pan or griddle How to make: Cook rice at 1:2 rice to water ratio. 1/3 cup is more than plenty to make musubi the full length of a nori sheet as shown in the picture. With the rice cooker, it's as easy as put rice in, put water in, plug the thing to the wall socket, push the button, wait until it's done. Lots of people wash their rice before cooking. If you get that Rice Select rice, it's fine to not bother washing it. If you do want to wash it, just put the rice in the rice cooker bowl cover with water and grab fistfuls of rice and squeeze to rub the rice grains together then pour out the water - repeat about 2 more times so the water is not as cloudy, then put 1:1.5 water ratio to the wet rice. Take the spam and run it through the slicer. Put the slices in a hot pan or griddle - no need to put oil - at med-hi setting on the stove. Let it sit in the heat until the spam is caramelized (it will be shiny reddish-brown color, not reddish-black - that's burnt) and then flip. Caramelize the other side, then take it out to sit on a paper towel to "degrease". Take one full nori sheet and put it shiny side down on a clean board. Put the spam mold on the middle just like the picture above. Spoon rice layer on the bottom almost halfway up the mold. Sprinkle a layer of furikake over the rice. Put the spam slices (2 of them) on top of the rice. Spoon more rice over the spam until the rice is bulging over the mold. Take the mold press and push the whole rice-spam sandwich down. Pull the mold body off while lightly pressing the mold press. Then take a moistened knife (or a sushi knife) and run it through the bottom of the mold press to separate it from the rice. Fold one end of the nori sheet over the rice-spam sandwich. Fold the other end over it wrapping the sandwich like a giftwrap. Position the whole thing so that the edges of the sheet-wrap is on the bottom. With the moistened knife, slice right at the middle of the sandwich. Then slice at the middle on both halves to make 4 pieces. Then slice at the middle of each of the 4 pieces to make 8 pieces. Serve. You can make this before breakfast and it would still be good by dinner.
  23. It's called Spam Musubi. My kids make these for snacks. And coincidentally, it's what's in their school lunchbox right this minute. We even have the spam musubi maker thingee that makes it much faster (and easier for the kiddos) to make one. Spam Musubi is a very common dish in Hawaii. The picture below was from New Year 2016 dinner party at my house. Spam musubi (the thing with the rice) made slightly differently than the OP. It has a smaller amount of spam per slice so the saltiness is not as overpowering.

    LOL!!! That was awesome.
  25. I'm the opposite... sometimes I find myself stopping on the side of a 4-lane highway to wave to the missionaries riding their bikes on the sidewalk. Drove my husband nuts.
