  1. They work, for about two years they stay sharp- unless you are cutting on man made materials or marble. They are impossible to sharpen too.I guess most of you are too young to remember when the ginsu knives infomercial first came out. The announcer was talking so fast and he always said weally instead of really- cracked me up.
  2. Them and the Gintzo(sp?) Knives, they Wealy, Wealy work!
  3. Why don't you just ask your teacher. I tried to do a search at lds.org and I couldn't find it. I remember it as a lesson too- so it must have either been in the YW lesson book or in The Era.
  4. Perhaps by cartoon- she really meant character. Like a goofy style, mohawk hair, etc. The Primary Partners drawings are still reverent.
  5. I think that you can not be baptised if you are still smoking. The Missionaries will work with you to help you to stop smoking.

I really like this receipe site: All recipes – complete resource for recipes and cooking tips I have never been disappointed with any receipe that I have tried from here.
  7. I think the knew jerk reaction is because the general population equate spirits with bad spirits not good.Too much bad tv and movies me thinks:eek:
  8. In Acts 2 - it tells of the day of Pentacost. That is the first time I can find in the scriptures where it tells about the gift of the Holy Ghost. 38 Then Peter asaid unto them, bRepent, and be cbaptized every one of you in the dname of Jesus Christ for the eremission of sins, and ye shall receive the fgift of the gHoly Ghost. So that follows what you said- and felt.
  9. Who questioned your moral ground? Please quote that part- because I missed it.

I used the powdered milk in bread. I don't like the texture of bread made with just water. But I'll be darned if I am going to buy a 1/2 gal or quart of milk just for 1 cup of milk. You don't even have to mix the water and powdered milk in advance. Add the dry milk with your flour and your liquid in with the liquid. I have even used olive oil in making bread. If I am making soft bread sticks, then I use not only the olive oil, but I just may add some herbs too. I used to live in Oregon-South Lincoln County, for nearly 30 years. Before that I lived in Seattle. Now I live in Pinal County Arizona.
  11. I don't think she is making a business out of doing this, or going around randomly saying things like this. The missionary is the one who repeated it, and it then got told by someone else. The missionary was in HER home, so I think that it was under her stewardship. I beleive missionaries always have angels, & heavenly spirits around them:lol:, at least I sure hope they do! Do you feel threatened by this? That there are people who are able to see spirits and angels. To hear them?
  12. He was on 24 time-out because he was a potty-mouth in another thread. He is back to being able to post.
  13. How were you not told the truth about it? Who lied to you? How did they lie to you? Again, when were you not given the whole story? When and where do you think you should have been given the whole story? From my perspective we are not angry with you or your questions. I, personally am up to my eyebrows in you stating again and again that you were lied to. So, okay - please state who lied to you. When did they do this? Quite a few members of this forum have gone to great lengths to explain things to you and from your repeated responses of .."I was lied to" it appears that you are not listening. It took a leap of faith for most of us to join a forum too. Would they accept me? Would they ridicule me? I am sure this is in all of our thoughts. Are we really assuming too much? What have you given us in the way of your posts? Mountaingirl- when did you think you should have been taught these things, and from whom?

I just wanted to make a comment about storing and using from your food storage. I had 4 bottles of Vegetable oil stored- large bottles. Got them on sale;) Thought that was a good deal. Well, I don't use very much veg oil- and the one bottle that was opened went rancid:sick:. I tossed the bottle and then I figured why open another large bottle? I found families at church who will use the oil up faster than I did. So- don't store sizes that you can not use up before the contents go bad. I no longer store veg oil as I just do not use it. I use olive oil, and I buy it on sale in the smaller bottles. For my bread I use Veg Shortening. This seems to keep forever in the cupboard. Haven't had it ever go rancid on me. I used to make a lot of bread, and rather than buy whole milk to use, I used powdered milk. Again, the large box went bad on me before I could use it up. It also got bugs in it. The reason I got the large box was it was cheaper by the ounce. Well, it ended up costing me more because I threw away over half a box. I now buy the smaller boxes and then I seal them with my seal a meal:D. Keeps the bugs out. I only have two small boxes- I now store cans of evaporated milk. Less liquid to reconstitute (1/2 and 1/2) and the opened can will last nearly a month in the fridge! I only use milk to cook with, as we no longer drink milk. Anything that is packaged in paper-cardboard can get bugs in it. Rice a Roni, cereal, mac and cheese, flour, sugar, etc. Seal it in an airtight container, or vacuum seal a meal the unopened box. Don't store your cans that are pop-tops on their sides. The seal can weaken and the food go bad, spill all over or even explode in the cupboard. Store them with the pop-top on the top. When you replace your canned goods, pull all the old ones to the front and put your new cans in the back. Do it just like the grocery stores do. I go one step further, I write the date purchased on the top of every can with a Sharpie. 26Jan08 That way I know when I bought it. If I have cans in there for more than a year - I use them up and don't buy any new. Say like cans of mackerel. Got a real good buy on them, or so I thought. $0.50 a can. We don't like mackerel. Love canned salmon, but not mackerel. Bleah- spit-spit-spit! I gave the 5 cans to the local animal shelter. They will mix it all up and feed it to the cats. Did you go nuts and buy 4 or 5 bags of flour when it was on sale? Still have them all? Put them in your freezer if you have the room. When you open a bag, transfer it to an airtight container and then using a wire whisk stir the flour. Get air into it. When you measure out the flour, sift it first then measure it. Freezing it is a good way to store 1 and 5 lb bags and it also kills any bugs that may in it. Pretty much ALL flour has bugs in it. Sometimes the larvae just hasn't hatched out. Don't get all upset over it. You bake the flour, cook it, that takes care of the bugs and their larvae. Well you have just added to your families protein consumption. Don't sweat it. Salt will last for eons as long as it does not get wet. I generally buy salt by the bag. But I am having a real hard time finding table salt by the 5 pound bag around here. So I buy it by the container, then open them up and store them in my airtight canister. In my salt shakers I put about a teaspoon of rice and then the salt. It keeps the moisture out of the salt and it also keeps me from over salting foods. I hear the shake, shake, shake and am happy. Learned this trick from Mom. Grandma used to taste the food cooking on the stove and then add salt. Well Grandma was losing her ability to taste and she was adding more and more salt. When she ruined a stock pot full of bean soup, and we had to toss out 9/10 of it, that is when we got rid of the clear glass salt shaker, got the metal ones and filled it with rice. The salt shaker we used to season with was put in the cupboard, the metal salt shaker with rice only was left on the stove. She would shake away, taste, and think she had seasoned the food. Living on the Oregon coast, my spice jars always glumped up. This is from the moisture in the air. I just added rice to all of my spices. I would make little rice bags from tea bag material. (get from a Food Co-op or an herbalist) Works great.
  15. Crimson, is this explained in the scriptures? I am not saying you are not right - but I too have wondered about this. It makes sense to me that the Gift of the Holy Ghost would come after Christ's death, but where can I read more about it.
  16. I wondered that myself too. I know that the description of the Church as in Christs time will be in the New Testament- but I don't know where. The true church as it was when Christ started it, had Teachers, Deacons, Priests, etc. The Priesthood. Where oh where are a Scripturian when we need one??
  17. We agree:eek: WOW!
  18. Why haven't you done research into the Church's welfare system? The good that they do? The money, medication and medical supplies, food, clothing, shelter that they donate - without fanfare might I add- to non-members. Third world countries hit by natural disasters, Katrina victims, etc.? Click on this link: Humanitarian Activities Worldwide and then click on each portion of the world map and READ. I go to the same Church as you. I have had the same lessons as you. I have read from the same books as you. I have also gone to the same anti-mormon internet sites as you probably have- yet I do not see the Church as lying, or holding truths from me. Quite the opposite- The Church has been forthright in its teachings, etc. I learned the truth from the Church, I learned to listen with the discernment of the Holy Ghost. The only difference is that I was not raised in the Church. My Parents joined decades after I did. My father never joined while he was alive. Mom did his work after she received her own endowments. My testimony is my own. Learned by me through my own trials and tribulations - my own Refiners Fire. I also learned that the Church is made up of HUMAN beings. Human beings are human- they make mistakes - sometimes on an hourly basis , but when they listen to the Holy Ghost with their heart of hearts, when they exercise blind faith and take that step forward and put their everything in the hands of God- THAT is when they LEARN and HEAR. As for you saying that because I have accused you of being a complainer you are now going to leave the forum. That is the same kind of threat that a child throws at a parent during a temper tantrum. " I'll hold my breath if you don't let me have ice cream for breakfast" , "I'm going to run away if you make me go to school" "I won't love you anymore unless you say and do the things I think are right". Do you honestly believe that 13 + MILLION people have been duped by the Holy Ghost into believing that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God?
  19. I have the gift of discernment. It is only for that which is under or within my stewardship. I have always had this ability, though I never really knew it. When I was inactive, the gift was still there- I just called it Gut Instinct or Women's Intuition. Then the only time I was really able to "see" or "hear" it was when my life or the life of a loved one was in peril. Since coming back into the Church, and becoming more in tune with the Holy Ghost, this gift manifests itself quite often and in varying degrees. I can't discern which stock to buy or when to sell;), but I can discern what to believe, and what is truth and what is lies. I have found that I can do this face to face, over the phone, in letters and amazingly over the internet. My Sister-In-Law can see past the veil at times. She has been guided by the ancestors (she calls them the Grands as in Grandparents:)) in finding lost genealogy and for breaking down the brick walls. The Grands also witnessed to her that all would be well concerning the stillborn child she had. She was so distraught, then the Grands witnessed to her and she is at peace now. We are all blessed with gifts. So for this woman to be able to see spirits or to hear them, yes I believe. Most especially by what and how she said it. To confirm it through prayer.
  20. That shopping mall in SLC was not paid for with our tithes. Our tithes pay for the temples & meetinghouses. Fast Offerings pay for welfare. Within the Ward or Branch, if a person or family needs assistance, then that comes from the Fast Offerings that have been paid by the members of that ward/branch. I know of a couple who when they passed on they "willed" everything they owned to the Church. They were rather wealthy. The Church sold the house, cars, antiques, etc. and this money is invested. It is not tithing. Quite frankly I don't know where the original money came from that the Church now uses to invest and to purchase things with. If it was tithing way back then so be it. They are doing a great job with the money now and have been for decades. Mountain Girl - I have read quite a few of your posts and you are complaining about quite a lot of things. How long have you been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? Have you stopped to think why you are so discontented with the Church? Deep down inside, the real reason. I think your discontent goes pretty deep.
  21. They are the 3-4 year olds.
  22. Um, whether the Bishop knows or not Father knows. You can easily lie to the Bishop and then to the Stake Presidency, but ultimately there is no way to lie to Father. Example: A person lies to their Bishop and Stake President about drinking frappachino's- 6 to 8, 6 oz. bottles a day!. This person gets their temple recommend. This goes on for years and years. There is a lot of vicarious work that they have done, unworthily. Unworthily meaning they are unworthy, not the work. At the end of the day - Father's Day that is - This person will stand at judgment and all the people that this person did vicarious work for will be standing there too as witness's. All the baptisms, endowments, sealings, etc. will still be valid. Christ is a just God- He will not punish all of those souls because this one person lied every time they went before their Bishop and Stake Presidency to get their Temple Recommend renewed. But this one person who lied, that person will be judged accordingly. Can't say what will happen, but I know it is going to be just. I sure don't want to be standing in front of Christ and admit that I have been lying to Father every time I went to get my Temple Recommend renewed.
  23. Wonderfully put - thank you!
  24. I do like it this way though Pushka- especially the other way, when all the other quotes of quotes of quotes, ad nausem, etc. were done it made for such a long and difficult to read post. Especially when all of the answers were less than three words and or just smilies or exclamation marks.
