  1. When you wet the underarm stain with warm water, what does it smell like? That could tell you how to get rid of it. It seems to me, that this staining is not an overnight occurrence - took months to accumulate. When I married my husband, his garments were dingy, heavy and I was oh so tempted to toss them and get him new. Couldn't afford it right then. From past experience I knew the heaviness was from mineral loaded water and way too much detergent. So I put a filter on the water going to the hot water heater. Then I washed his garments with NO detergent until all the soap was gone. Took 4 wash & rinse cycles. Then I washed them one final time with Oxi Clean crystals and powdered all fabric bleach only. I DID NOT use the amount recommended by the soap manufacturers, I use 1/4 of what they recommend, especially for garments. This took the heaviness away - but unfortunately it did not remove the dingy, yellowing of the cotton blend. Once cotton blends are stained, then you pretty much have to bleach it. AND I don't mean laundry bleach either. It is the rayon or polyester fibers that have yellowed. If the garments are 100% cotton, then bleaching should take the yellowing out. There is a product on the market for removing yellowing in cotton and mostly cotton blends. I'm sorry, but I can not remember the name of it. In the future, use less detergent and additives. I wash our garments separately. His are cotton blends, mine are drysilk. Use differing amounts of detergents, etc. Also mine dry in 10 minutes with less heat, his 30 minutes with more heat in the dryer. I would take the time to make a paste and work it into the stain, then wash. I would also take a look at the amount of suds in the water as they are agitating during the rinse cycle. Stop the machine and see if there are any suds floating on top. If there are, then when that cycle spins out, reset for another rinse cycle. Then in the future, use less detergent and additives. For whites I use Oxi crystals, all fabric powdered bleach and then detergent. I use 1/4 of what is 'recommended', and my rinse cycle does not have suds sitting on top of the water when I stop the agitation. I would also get my husband a new antiperspirant deodorant. One with less aluminum, or get deodorants. Deodorants do not contain aluminum. The aluminum is what stops the perspiration. We do not use antiperspirants. Living in AZ our bodies had to perspire, we just used deodorants to calm the smell. I am allergic to the aluminum in antiperspirants - so I use deodorants or the crystal.
  2. Every talk given in General Conference, ends that way. They are not praying, yet that is the guide we use in ending our talks that way. Also, they end their talks with their testimony. As do I when I give a talk. When our Gospel Doctrine teacher ends the lesson- she gives her testimony, followed by "... in the name of..." To me this is quite acceptable. I did the same when I was teaching Sharing Time in Primary, ended it with my testimony.
  3. When they read directly from the Ensign or Era, then yes I agree with you. That is not a talk, that is a reading. I read my talk - I spend weeks preparing my talk. Yet I can not just stand up there and present my talk using just 3x5 cards with notes. Tried it, several times, and it goes very badly. Now, I write the entire thing out and read from it. I do NOT apologize before or after for "reading" it. Nor do I start my talk with: "When I was asked. . ." - I start it with, "The topic I will be talking about is . . ." I wish now that I had learned braille when I had the opportunity as a young teen, then I could have written my talks in braille. I could then "read" it with my finger tips as I was reading it aloud .
  4. Oh Man have I ever been there! Had three months to clean, sort, toss, pack and I left it until two days before. I was still packing boxes as the truck and trailer was being loaded. Consequently a couple of boxes that should have been moved got left behind and went to the landfill. AND 5 boxes got loaded and moved just to get sent to the dump in our new town and state!! THE only thing that I did well advance of the move was sort through my clothes. Every thing I could not wear got sent to Savers thrift shop. Also I went through my socks- all of the mostly made of nylon, any socks that had threads on the inside (cheaply made argyle) got sent to Savers, I only kept the mostly to 100% cotton socks. A year before we moved, we went through all of our boxes of books, papers, etc. Had an infestation of scorpions- the buggers were living in two of the boxes! Target happened to have a sale on plastic tote boxes. I got them for 1/3 the price - took all the cardboard boxes outside, went through their contents and repacked them into the plastic totes. Each month after that, I would pack up some of my paperbacks into the totes, and my hardbacks also. Now I have to get bookcases to put my books into. I felt so guilty that I had more boxes of books than I had boxes of kitchen items, including food storage, that I got a Kindle rather than buy new books to read.

Be Nasty Day When : Always March 8th It's Be Nasty Day! There's naughty days, and nice days, and all sorts of goodie gumdrop days. So, it stands to reason that there will be a few negative type of days. This is one of them. We hope you do not celebrate this day, and that it is not popular. If you do, please recognize that there is a big difference between being nasty and being cruel. Sending a few harmless Ecards may be a way to celebrate today. Origin of "Be Nasty Day": Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. We do not create these days. We only report and document them. ___________________________________________________________________________ International (Working) Women's Day When : March 8th International Women's Day is sponsored worldwide by the United Nations. The roots of this celebration goes back to the late 1800's to early 1900s. It grew from women's socialist movements and early women's trade union groups. The first International Women's Day was held March 19, 1911. Women socialists and trade unions held an earlier Women's Day on the last Sunday in February, 1908. The event grew from there and has been celebrated annually since. The focus is upon women workers, and advancing women's rights in the workforce, politics and society. 6. Your Welcome I actually read the entire thing for Tennessee to see if they stated when the bond would be returned to the marrying couple. Doesn't say. In those days, $1,250 was a small fortune! Wonder how many couples just lived together in common law because they didn't have the $1,250. Did you see where in that state if a person was found guilty of adultery, and their spouse divorced them for it, the person who committed adultery could not then marry the person they had the affair with until their first spouse was dead. Oh, I know several women who wish that law had been in effect when their husbands cheated on them, then promptly married the 'other woman' within hours of the divorce becoming final. I downloaded the entire file so that I could read it later - every state (I think) is listed, and if Tennessee is an example- there could very well be some interesting reading. My family-ancestors are in Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and some of the East Coast states. I am just learning about the latter.
  7. Go to this site: Marriage and Divorce, 1867-1906 ... - Google Books I had to download the PDF file, then you want to go to page 270 to find the required fee. It states that a bond of $1,250 must be paid when a couple register to marry. Then there is a filing fee of $0.50 to record the marriage.
  8. This is from Wikipedia: Bong - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In the United States, under the Federal Drug Paraphernalia Statute, which is part of the Controlled Substances Act, it is illegal to sell, transport through the mail, transport across state lines, import, or export drug paraphernalia.[citation needed] However, all smoking accessories before being used with any illegal substance are legal. In countries where marijuana and hashish are illegal, some retailers specify that bongs are intended for use with tobacco in an attempt to circumvent laws against selling drug paraphernalia. While technically 'bong' does not mean a device used for smoking marijuana, drug-related connotations have been formed with the word itself. Due to these connotations, some head shops will not serve customers who use the word "bong" or "bongs".[10]

National Crown Roast of Pork Day When : Always March 7th You certainly must be kidding, right!? National Crown Roast of Pork Day... Why you ask? Well, frankly, we do not know. And, why not just Roast Pork Day? Why does it have to be a crown roast pork? What we do know, is that it is National Crown Roast of Pork Day, a special day to cook and eat pork. To participate in this day it must be crown roast pork. Any other just will not do. Have a great day! Origin of "National Crown Roast of Pork Day": Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. About the only reference to this day are from blogs on the Internet, poking fun at this important day. It is the butt of many jokes. You can also find Ecards (of course) to send celebrating this day This is referred to as a "National" day. However, we did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day. Could congress really have spent precious time to make this a national day?

"Dentist's Day" When : Always March 6th Dentist's Day is a day to display a big, toothy smile. After all, your Dentist plays a role in that big, bright smile. He's an important person in keeping your smile bright, and your teeth and mouth healthy. If your Dentist is such an important person, then why are we so scared of the next dental visit? Is it perhaps the fear of discovering a cavity? Maybe, he will find the beginnings of gum disease? The fear of the dentist ranks right up there with.... the fear of pulling teeth! Among the ways to celebrate today are: Giving your dentist a big "TY" Sending your dentist an Ecard or stationary card Making a dental appointment(if you haven't been there in a while) Start using dental floss daily Improving your daily dental care routine Showing off your great smile Also see Tooth Ache Day and Tooth Fairy Day.Origin of "Dentist's Day": Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. Most likely, it was a dental group or organization. ___________________________________________________________________________ "National Frozen Food Day" When : Always March 6th National Frozen Food Day celebrates all those yummy foods and snacks in your freezer. Sure, the invention of the freezer made this day possible. But, the methods and techniques of preparing and freezing foods is what makes frozen foods taste great, look great and store in a frozen state until you need them. Imagine how your busy life would be if you didn't have a frozen dinner to pop into the microwave in between a late day at work and your evening event. You'd have to stop and make a dinner from scratch! Thanks to the frozen food industry, you can (and should ) celebrate Frozen Food Day in true frozen food manner: Start your day with by popping a frozen breakfast into the microwave. For lunch, select among a wide array of frozen lunch treats. Take a trip to the grocery store to buy some frozen food, any will do. Dinner: If you are in a hurry, you're in luck. The selection of dinner entrees is seemingly endless. Snack time is the perfect time for ......ice cream! Did you know? Frozen foods first hit store shelves in 1930 in Springfield, Ma. Who developed the process? ...... Clarence Birdseye. Origin of "National Frozen Food Day" Congress, by Senate Joint Resolution 193, designated March 6, 1984, as ``Frozen Food Day'' and authorized and requested the President to issue a proclamation upon this occasion. In Proclamation #5157, President Ronald Reagan said: "Now, Therefore, I, Ronald Reagan, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim March 6, 1984, as Frozen Food Day, and I call upon the American people to observe such day with appropriate ceremonies and activities." And, so this became a true National day of recognition and celebration.

"Multiple Personality Day" When : Always March 5th Multiple Personality Day is an opportunity to get in touch with yourselves. Someone with a split personality has two personalities. Someone with multiple personalities has more than two personalities. Its a psychological disorder that we hope none of our readers have. Don't be surprised to find yourself surrounded by people who are talking to themselves today. You might find yourself talking to yourself, too! When you wish someone "Happy Multiple Personalty Day", you may need to do so multiple times, once for each personality. Origin of "Multiple Personality Day": Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. Perhaps, the creator assumed his other half would record it.
  12. March 4: "Employee Appreciation Day" When : First Friday in March If the boss can get a Bosses Day, then it's only fair and appropriate that you, the employee, gets a day in your honor. Employee Appreciation Day honors employees everywhere. Celebrations today should be created and executed by your company. Recognitions vary widely, and may include a lunch, snack, cakes, or other munchies, and small recognition gifts. Don't expect a day off. Chances are, it just won't happen. As we researched this day, we wondered if it was a coincidence that Employee's Day and Bosses Day are six months apart.....hmmmmmm. Origin of "Employee Appreciation Day": According to David Nuualiitia "Employee Appreciation Day first arrived on calendars in 1995. One of Recognition Professionals International’s founding Board members, Bob Nelson, together with his publishing company, Workman Publishing, created Employee Appreciation Day as a way of focusing the attention of all employers, in all industries on employee recognition." There are a lot of local and company specific celebrations for Employee Day and week. They are spread across the year. "Holy Experiment Day" When : Always March 4th Holy Experiment Day is a day to try something religious. It is a chance to try something, or ask for something, and to measure the results. There are a lot of things that can be viewed as religious or holy experiments. Some examples could be: Pray for someone to get better Pray for snow Pray for your team to win the super bowl Pray someone will ask you on a date Try saying grace at dinner and see if others join you Try to get a person to attend religious services Plan to convert someone to your religion In our examples above, God may grant all, some, or none of the desired results. He may be too busy with the problems of the world to make it snow. He definitely doesn't have a favorite sports team. The Lord truly works in mysterious ways. Sometimes, he has his own plans for an outcome that we may not understand. We don't want to discourage holy experiments. Quite the opposite, we think they are good. We just believe you shouldn't judge the results. Your religious beliefs will be strengthen and you will be closer to God. So, participate in Holy Experiment Day to its fullest. Flower of the Day: Coleus Origin of "Holy Experiment Day": Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. We did find references to the usage of holy experiments in people's lives. "National Salesperson Day" When : First Friday of March National Salesperson Day is established to recognize the value of the truly professional salesperson. This day also recognizes the hard work performed by professional sales people. Who is a salesperson? This is a huge part of the workforce. Some examples include: Register clerks at the grocery store Clerks at your convenience store Door to door sales people Car salesman Life Insurance agents Mortgage brokers and loan officers Travelling salesman Manufacturer's reps The list goes on and on Celebrate today by offering thanks and appreciation to any sales people you come in contact with today. Origin of "National Salesperson Day": National Salesperson's Day was founded by Maura Schreier-Fleming, President of Best@Selling, in March 2000. She is an author, consultant, and speaker for....you guessed it, salesperson training. This is referred to as a "National" day. However, we did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day

  14. Verbal abuse IS abuse. I know, I was a victim of verbal abuse, back in the time when all enforcement agencies refused to accept that verbal, mental and emotional abuse was just as destructive as physical abuse. Each time things calm down and he is sweet, nice and charming- that is called the "Honeymoon" phase of abuse. You need to go get counseling. You are the one who is asking for help, so go get it. You have a temple marriage, thus you are LDS, so go to your Bishop and ask how do you get the help from LDS Social Services. YOU do it. Don't wait for husband to agree - he won't, not until he sees the benefits YOU are getting from the counseling. Do it for yourself, and for the mental health of your children. By continuing with this see-sawing battle of emotional, verbal abuse you both are teaching your children to be abusers and victims.
  15. Yep, BIG age difference:ninja:
  16. Just toss it in with your load of garments, or do you toss your garments each time you wear them and buy new? I am just against tissues as you are cloth hankies. There must be enough of an age difference between us, where my making washing a hanky less work is NOT ironing it!
  17. No there isn't beefche- not in the endowment room. What problem could washing a 10" or 12" square piece of all white cloth be anyway?
  18. Take a linen or cotton all white handerkerchief and keep it in your pocket. I only had one, wished I had had another one. When the Holy Ghost witness's to me, it always makes me cry. Not sobbing cry, but Oh Boy Here Come The Tears cry.
  19. At an evening relief society meeting, one of the older sister had a bulge of a "panty" line under her slacks. (we seldom wear dresses or skirts to this meeting) I asked her if she knew she had this quiet obvious roll? She told me that she just can't seem to get her pantyhose and her garment bottoms to 'like each other'. One really bunches the other to distraction. I thought I was going to die laughing. I asked her why in the world would she wear pantyhose when she is wearing slacks? She answered with, because I am wearing dress shoes? SO- perhaps these sisters had pantyhose and garment bottoms that do not 'like each other'. OR perhaps they are of the school that when they are experiencing their menses, they wear regular panties to hold their protection pads in place and forgo the garments so they don't get "soiled". Along the same lines, I was sitting in Gospel Doctrine class and one of the younger sisters was sitting in a folding chair in full view of the majority of the class with the crack of her backside showing. Her garment top was way up her back and her garment bottom waistline was lost somewhere along with the waistband of her skirt between her bottom and the seat of the chair. My husband and most of the brethren around us were making comments about her, the Patriarch asked me to alert her that her backside and upper bum was seriously exposed (that is how the Patriarch put it). She very loudly told me that it was none of my business what was exposed. That is when the Patriarch and a couple of the brethren loudly told her that it WAS our business, and for her to cover herself. Her husband took off his suit jacket and placed it over her shoulders, covering her exposure. For what it is worth, I would talk privately to each sister and gently explain that they were exposed when they crossed their legs. If they take offense, then go to the Primary President and tell her, she should then talk to her councilors. If that doesn't solve the issue, perhaps then you can invite the Bishopric to visit the class, explain what is happening, and have them sit next to you and let them witness it first hand.
  20. Good grief can't all of you let the boy answer for himself??? WHY? Because after reading everything he has posted-(and I mean EVERYTHING) he comes across as a 12 or 13 year old - and one who is not very knowledgeable of LDS ways. Walk the walk, talk the talk. Nope he doesn't do it. Plus HE seldom answers direct questions directly. So lds.net members, please let him answer for himself. Undoubtedly he is going to say that I am rude. That he has the right to his opinions. True you do, but so do I.
  21. WOW that is one heck of a sun fart
  22. Thank you, Soul but wanted to know LDSChristian's defination- This is something their Bishop knows about? Have they been disfellowshipped? Is this commonly known by the other members of your ward? Exactly what Stake are you in? I don't want to know what ward or branch you are in, just the Stake.

  25. The Church requires us to heed A of F 12We believe in being asubject to bkings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in cobeying, honoring, and sustaining the dlaw. Thus said, what the law is for the country you are living in, then that is what you will do. In England for instance, they do not recognize the authority of marriage in the Temple. Thus all members must be married civilly first, then go through the Temple to be sealed. The Church waives the one year waiting period for those countries, like England, who do not recongnize the legality of our Temple marriage/sealing. If the country you are living in, says that couples may legally be married at 15 or 16; then those couples will need to speak to their Stake President to see if they can be married in the Temple or if they need to have a civil ceremony first, then have the Temple sealing later on when they reach what ever age the Church requires. The men must hold the Melchizedek Priesthood before they can recieve their endowments. That has already been disclosed previously. Women are encouraged to wait until their mid twenties before receiving their endowments IF they are single and not going on a mission. If they are going on a mission, then they receive their endowments prior to leaving for the MTC. The minimum age for women going on missions is 21. IF they are marrying in the Temple, then they receive their endowments prior to that. As for your question regarding early, 15 years or reaching puberty, marriage- NO the Church does not encourage this. This is a partial quote from For The Strength of Youth: https://lds.org/youth/for-the-strength-of-youth/dating?lang=eng
