Agree with you regarding the tomato, classylady. But I aim for the lap when it comes to dumping ice water. Seems to get their attention way faster.

Ruthie, men can be raped- whether by a woman or by a man. Yes it can happen. Just like women can be raped by women. Penetration with a foreign object- I had read about a man who had been repeatedly raped and abused by his wife. She would threaten then burn him with a hot clothes iron if he didn't do what she wanted when she wanted it. This all came out in trial where he was accused of her murder. Yes, he did kill her. He admitted that. He killed her to stop the abuse and the rapes. She used foreign objects to rape him with. That was one sick, hate filled woman. I never did read the follow up reports as to the final report- whether he was acquitted or sentenced to prison. This is sarcasm right

Paid clergy, such as Catholic Priests have sacred garments that they wear during certain rituals that distinguish them as clergy. It just happens that these sacred garments are worn on the outside. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are in a sense, Lay clergy. We don't have a paid clergy. Endowed LDS members have sacred garments also - only we wear ours under our street clothes as instructed by Christ. In my way of thinking, because our faith is a Restoration of Christ's original Church, then the wearing of the garments is also a restoration of what was done in Christ's original church. Every thing we do: Baptism, giving the gift of the Holy Ghost, partaking of the Sacrament, Temple Endowments, Proxy work ~ have all been restored to us too.

Pests, as in rodents, most certainly DO eat soap. They love it! It does have a shelf life, sort of, after several years it will lose some of it's scent, but none of its washability.

Just might WAKE up those snoozing HPriests!

Whether an "increase" aka income is taxable or not has no bearing as to whether it is eligible to be tithed on. Not all countries tax income. What Vort said in his reply to you: emphasis added by me. To repeat: Talk this over with your Bishop.
-
Not really. When I was newly separated from hubby#1- if I paid my tithing I didn't have money for food or rent. My Branch President counseled me to pay my tithing, and the Church will supply my food and pay my rent. In four months time, I changed jobs (getting more in wages) and moved to a larger home (for less rent & the house was better insulated thus electricity was way, way less) and could now pay tithing and all of my bills. Granted I didn't have a lot of left over money- sometimes all I had for gas for the car was $20.00 a month. BUT I also picked up extra cash (tithed on this also) by cleaning a couple of homes. When, in faith, you pay your tithing knowing that you will be unable to pay a bill, put gas in the car, or food on your table, the Lord will provide for you. You need to talk with your Bishop regarding this. He will council you in what the Church will/can do when you do what is asked of you by the Lord.

I used to do that with kitchen cupboard doors. When I first started slamming doors, I was in Middle School, and the kitchen cupboard doors were metal. They stayed closed no matter how hard you slammed them. Then I got married, and slammed wooden kitchen cupboard doors. Those dang things really bounce! Knocked myself out cold! I didn't stop at that either- Oh no, I continued to slam those doors. What I did do was DUCK! Just one more okay?-- I was really, really mad at my then husband. He had been coming home drunk as a skunk for nearly 2 weeks and I had just had enough. He had brought home a half gallon of his favorite rot gut whiskey, then passed out in the hallway. I took that 1/2 gal bottle and threw it against the hugh pine tree in the yard. The blasted thing bounced and nearly hit me! I picked it up, backed up a bit, then took a running start and heaved that bottle with everything I had, aiming for the tree. It bounced off the tree and hit me in the shins. The stupid thing was made out of plastic and it was full! I was so surprised to find that it was plastic. I sat down and laughed till I nearly wet myself! Then I took the lid off, poured it out over the hill and then let fly with the empty jug across the little canyon. Heard it hit the gate post on the road on the other side. Hubby never did remember he brought the booze into the house. Thought he left it on the roof of the car as he left the liqour store parking lot. I don't throw things at trees anymore- it just isn't as satisfying as slamming cupboard doors!

Once you are living on your own, you need to know how prioritize, and follow up on it. Tithing & bills get paid first and foremost. Then groceries and gas for the car. I had to list car gas under bills to insure I had enough money for it. I could always eat crackers w/peanut butter if there wasn't that much money left over. In my experiences and opinion when you wait until the 11th hour to get something done, that you could have easily finished in the 1st through 5th hours - you are an adrenalin junkie. Been there, done that. It is easy to become one and Oh so difficult to un-become one. You actually do become addicted to the adrenaline high-rush. Middle School, High School all teach one how to prioritize - College pretty much requires that you put that learning to use. Make list(s), then use them. Before on-line banking, I had a calendar (big-big calendar) that was near my computer/work/writing station at home. On it I put in the days I received my paycheck & how much I would be getting. Then in RED I put in what needed to be paid and the $ amount on the days that those payments had to be SENT out to be received on/before the due date. On each Sunday, in GREEN I wrote how much money was available for the coming week. Then in PURPLE I wrote in the activities & chores that needed to be done. I saw this calendar when I exited my bedroom, kitchen and when I answered the front door - so it was extremely visible. For activities I included washing the bathroom, doing laundry, vacuuming house, changing the bed linens, etc. I still use the large calendar, but not to pay bills, those are all done automatically via internet now. I use it for activities. Do laundry, vacuum house, set up appointments to visit teach, visit teach, any happenings at church, baptisms I want to attend, local happenings I want to go to. The only list I kept in my purse is my shopping list- I had to follow it to the letter or else I would buy compulsively and run out of money. Another thing that procrastinators need to learn is what is a Need and what is a Want. Get the needs done first, then you can pick a want or two as a reward. Learning to not be a procrastinator is a long journey- be patient and work at it steadily. Don't beat yourself up if you back slide. I prayed and sought help from Father to strengthen me and I also asked the priesthood to bless me to overcome my predilection toward procrastination. I still procrastinate, but not to the degree I once did. I let the dishes pile up till there is no room to cook and no silverware to eat with. I let the laundry pile up, thus doing 6 loads in one day, rather than a load or two each day. I also bought extra g's so that we can go 16 days before I have to wash, and I now have enough bath towels & sheets to go weeks before Having to launder any. But with the bills- Husband taught me how to set up the computer to alert me when the two bills we have whose $ amounts change each time need to be paid. Every thing else is on Auto Pay.

BTW- the eruption was in 1980. 31 years ago!!! Portland got hit hard. My Ex=MIL's car, roof of her house & yard had a foot of the ash. Had to have her car repainted even. She gathered up & bagged all the ash from her yard and her neighbors. She used it as fertilizer on her indoor plants. Her African Violets went nuts- they outgrew their pots in a year! My Ex and I had just planted a small Japanese Maple tree in her front yard about a month before Mt St Helens erupted. That ash enabled it to grow 1/2 times as fast. I brought a trash bag of it to my home on the coast, and used it on my house plants- all 70 of them- They went nuts and took over my entire upstairs, postage stamp, of a living room! The downside of all that ash - the ivy and nettles in her yard grew by leaps and bounds- thought we would never get rid of them.

Why do I feel angry when preparing for the temple
Iggy replied to motherhen2k2's topic in Advice Board
Satan is causing the anger & frustration. You have the power to banish Satan from you, your life, your home, your car. Simply, it is through prayer. Pray directly to Father to banish the adversary from you. From your home, from your car. Pray and ask Father to protect you, to guide you in what to read and listen to, to keep the adversary at bay longer. When I was preparing to go to the Temple, I had to banish the adversary on a daily basis. He slammed me at work, he slammed me via the radio music, he slammed me at home (neighbors who were drug dealers!), soon-to-be-ex drama/trauma, etc. I was separated from & waiting for finalization from hubby #1. In telling my Branch President about the trials, road blocks, emotional trauma I was getting hit with, he said that my home needed to be blessed and dedicated. So, contact your Home Teachers or Bishopric and request a blessing and dedication on your home, and a blessing for yourself. Then in your morning & evening prayers, banish the adversary. Worked for me. Works for me still! The world still creeps into my home through TV, movies, books, news, etc. -
Mmmm that sounds so good. Toss in some steamed fresh asparagus or broccoli with Hollandaise sauce. Then an hour or so later, for dessert: Hot Chocolate Pudding Cake with vanilla ice cream. Now I'm hungry- and I don't have the fresh veggies or vanilla ice cream. Rats, Drats, and phooo.

Anatess, have your Bishopric & Husband bless & consecrate the home. When Husband and I married we lived in his home that his Meth addict brother had been living in for six years. All the hate, lust, evil, etc. that this sibling dredged up from the pits of Hades still lingered there. At first we just prayed and banished the adversary- but this only worked for a little while. One of the men at church said to go one step higher and consecrate our home. Of course it worked. Also, of course, during the course of our living IN the world we would bring home anger/angst, but prayer to banish the evils worked. When I found this home here in Oregon, I never felt any evil living here. This home apparently has always had happiness in it. Husband and our Home Teachers still blessed and consecrated it.

Perhaps your friend should check this out- Pam Stenzel's DVD Curriculum "Love Lessons-Purity is Possible" 7 years ago our Branch President showed the video Sex Has A Price Tag- Faith based, to all of the adults in our branch. If the parents wanted their child(ren) to see, then they could borrow the video. Every single parent opted to show it to their children- I learned a LOT from viewing it, as an adult. I know two households in my branch who went on line and bought more of her videos (DVDs) and show them to their children as they age. She doesn't push her Catholic faith, she pushes faith in Christ and obedience in your Christ based faith.

Yep the selections get better. We have had Netflix for about 3 years now. Once you pay, your speed should pick up. IF not, call their 1.800 number and they can fix the speed for you. Our problems when we watch Netflix are from the server. We get two DVD's delivered via mail, plus we have instant view. Just when we think we have watched everything, they add even more.

In the US, most do. The smaller temples do not however. Nor do the smaller temples have clothing service/rentals.
-
Both the Medford and the Sacremento temples are the smaller temples. They do not have cafeterias or clothing service. Medford Oregon Sacramento California.

I got my vegetable garden planted! I still have the 'exotic' lettuces' to plant. Need more bark rock and soil for that. Then it is watch, water, weed if need be and WAIT. OH, and I am planting bunching onions aka green onions in with the 'exotic' lettuces. Like to kill myself doing it. Those 1.5 cu. ft. bags of very wet steer manure blend are HEAVY, so are the 2 cu.ft bags of even wetter bark rock. Also got my planter boxes of mints done, the hanging fuchsia, petunias and the Topsy-Turvey tomatoes. (10 tomato plants, and only 1 had died so far) Whew- All in one day!
